The real problem with RAF sustainabilty?
nhs67 replied to BruceyB's topic in International Wrestling
Nomad needs to come here and educate us on how it isn't sustainable. I say that tongue-in-cheek, but I suppose I really shouldn't. He has talked about it endlessly since before RAF1 and believes he has the numbers to prove his point. Meander through his feed, if you want to know some of those specifics. I can't disagree with him, because I am ignorant on a lot of the details. He seems to have done the research. -

Recruiting in the Class of 2027 is starting to heat up. Coming into this weekend, we only had information about three current high school juniors who have committed to wrestle at DI institutions. By Monday morning, that number had doubled. Two of the three happen to be top 100 overall recruits. #51 Caige Horak (Massillon Perry, OH), #66 Roman Stewart (Liberty, MO), and UR Ben Ziola (Skutt Catholic, NE) all made their collegiate intentions known over the weekend. Last weekend, Horak visited the University of Pittsburgh and less than a week later, he committed to Keith Gavin’s squad. Horak finished third in Ohio’s DI classification in 2025 at 175 lbs. Last year, Horak was third at NHSCA Freshman Nationals and eighth in Fargo’s 16U Greco tournament. Over the summer, Horak wrestled at 190 lbs at the Junior Duals and went 6-3 in Greco and 2-5 in freestyle. By the time Horak arrives in Pittsburgh, he could wrestle at the 197 lbs weight class, which should be wide open after All-American Mac Stout’s graduation. Roman Stewart was in Ames over the weekend and must have been impressed by the festivities surrounding the Cy-Hawk football game, as he committed to Iowa State on Sunday. Stewart is a two-time Missouri state placewinner, who took third as a freshman and won a Class 4 state title at 144 lbs in 2025. He recently wrestled in Fargo’s junior freestyle division and picked up five wins, but did not medal. Heading into Fargo, Stewart was ranked #19 in the nation at 150 lbs, per MatScouts. Looking at the 149/157 lb range for the Cyclones, there is some youth in that range, but no clear-cut long-term solutions in place. Ben Ziola is a two-time Nebraska Class B state champion. His most recent title came at 126 lbs; however, he wrestled at 150 lbs in Fargo. I’d expect Ziola to continue growing, as his older brother, Cade, graduated in 2025 and won a Fargo title at 215 pounds. He’s a true freshman at Nebraska. Knowing that, it’s a nice recruiting win for Rob Koll’s staff getting the younger Ziola out of state. We’ll monitor the younger Ziola’s progress. I would guess that national-level success will eventually occur as he settles into a weight range. For all of the recruits in the Class of 2027 who have already committed: Click Here

Why would he campaign on releasing them if he thought he was implicated in some way? Makes zero sense. -

There’s the second grade name caller we all know about. Carry on jr. -
from the news article linked in the tweet. A child who was playing on the monkey bars in the park saw Mart holding her penis and wiggling it at her, and she immediately told her friends and father.

Instances of a college coach's kids wrestling for another program?

We were just talking about this and his kids! I too am curious to see how this all plays out. -
Minnow is the biggest Douche out there, and it aint close. BUT, people give him the attention he wants. I know 2 guys that tried to track him down, because he was telling lies about their families. I cannot believe nobody has grabbed him in public, he has made a lot of people pretty mad.

The ball dropped into a mostly empty row and the guy walked down the empty row and grabbed it. Not like he walked over anyone or pushed anyone out of the way. Fair game. No way I would have given the ball to my kid then taken it away from him to give to her. One of the best parts of this story is she was incorrectly identified by some as an administrator for some school district in Jersey. They put out a statement clarifying this woman never was an employee there, while also having a little fun with it stating (paraphrasing) “ anyone who has ever been a teacher, supervisor, or student at (XX) school district clearly would have caught that ball and none of this would have happened in the first place”

The word on the street is that college coaches were polled and they voted in a great majority to push back the first date of contact. right now it's June 15th of SO --> JR Year what was proposed was a first contact date of Spring after JR season. (essentially 9 months later than it is now) i, for one, think it would be a good move for both the athletes and college coaches.

No Sadulaev means Tazhudinov murders the whole field on his way to gold. For US and Iran, our chance of medalling increased drastically but it also means worse quality wrestling with him out. Of course anything can happen at worlds but Tazhudinov gives off the kind of aura that Sadulaev has and that guy doesn't lose.

This could either be a stroke of genius or a complete disaster. Payam Ahmadi is great but with such little time for world's this could end up really bad. Also I don't think he would be seeded so he could hit Azizli first round which would be awful. I'm not too sure about this one tbh.

Yep. There was a pretty clear plan initially to bring him back to OU when he could start, but instead he fell in love with Mizzou and never left.
