  2. The Mrs isn’t a big fan of garlic so the old-school maitre d is probably what I’ll try first. Thanks for the ideas.
  3. They never have.
  4. Try chimichuri too !!! On steak is great.
  5. Google a bunch. Matre d is old school common but Garlic parm southwest style butter …. Google this. Confit garlic.
  6. Today
  7. Welp, that didn’t last long. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. nobody said they aren't special, but my point was the guys who've been in RTCs full time doing sr level training probably aren't going to see a huge jump in performance heading into a college room... The guys who haven't had world class training for their entire high school career might be more likely to jump levels. Could be a dumb hypothesis, and maybe everyone on this list has been afforded that same world class training Jax has had, so it might be a mute point.
  9. and a million retirees that can't afford their taxes after inflation + property spike + the ultimate stupidity of having their SS taxed. there's absolutely no rationale for most existing (or more) taxes unless you're a shill or simply uneducated.
  10. This last step might be a game changer for me. I usually top the steak with a bit of plain butter.
  11. Are the 18 year olds in college accomplishing these things? If not than I don't think them being 18 as HS juniors is a sign that they aren't special. I also don't understand why you've just decided that Duke is just going to keep getting better but the other guys have already hit their ceilings. This whole post reads like a 50/50 mix of fact and fiction to create a narrative.
  12. He wouldn't be able to compete this upcoming year in PIAA if he was currently 19. Has to at least be 18 until the end of June
  13. Yeah, my understanding is UWW puts the age that they will turn in the current calendar year because that's what's relevant to UWW for age divisions. I think Jax's bday is late October
  14. I think RAF has a great shot tbh!!
  15. Yeah, maybe I have worn out my welcome here. Time to take a break.
  16. are you sure? his uww profile is where I got it https://uww.org/athletes/forrest-jaxen-patrick
  17. I bet there is a recruiting bump from this. Quite literally one of the nicest thing you could do for someone.
  18. Yes, the pace of building slowed in the last decade, foreclosures were high, exclusionary zoning rules, etc etc etc.
  19. Gradually started before this but the big shift came in the 90's with the rise of Howard Stern and Jerry Springer. It culminated with the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal. Meaning the public was ready to shed the US "morality myth" that made it's last stand in the 80's.
  20. Good point. Famous people were always known to be adulterers and whatnot, but they at least had to pretend that it wasn't the case or cover it up. Now it seems like even when it is public knowledge, nobody gives an f.
  21. I think this has been the case throughout history. Rich and famous always get a pass breaking certain social norms vs the common man. I've always seen it as the common man is perceived to be the more decent human so is expected to have higher values.
  22. You won’t be unhappy. I love to add some garlic. Shallots. Thyme. Sometimes rosemary. And baste the steaks with the ghee when searing. Especially post sous vide. deglaze with something. (White wine or stock )… add some more liquid. (Usually stock) scrape down the good good fond gunk off the bottom. Reduce. Emulsify with something. (Mustard or butter) and now you got yourself a good sauce. make a nice compound butter. Traditional Matre d butter does well…. Or any other is probably fine.
  23. I plan to try ghee for the first time tomorrow to sear some NY Strip coming out of the sous vide bath.
  24. Oldie but a goodie. We need tolls just to build these roads. Then we’re done. Their political slogan was “toll free in 73” That was over 50 years ago https://www.illinoispolicy.org/growth-in-tollway-revenue-shows-illinois-never-planned-on-keeping-its-freeway-promise/ the gov is wasteful in ways I don’t think we will ever understand. Even with doge. They move the tax goalpost ever so slightly year over year to make this years feel minimal…. But the reality is they are going to keep going until they tax the country into oblivion. It won’t occur over a year. It won’t occur during one specific administration but there is no end to their nonsense. Illinois is #2 in gas tax behind good old Cali just and just raised the tax again. I think we’re top ish in property and combined state taxes too …. No end in sight as we are STILL paying hundreds of millions for bidens illegal alien scheme and they are asking to raise property taxes in Chicago / cook county specifically for that…. AGAIN. don’t sit here and tell me it’s for “schools” either. Chicago public schools are shyte. Yes we need schools but this joke of a public school system is not the utopia anyone thinks it is. https://www.illinoispolicy.org/report-illinoisans-pay-nations-highest-combined-state-local-taxes/#:~:text=Illinoisans average %2413.1K in taxes%2C highest burden in U.S.&text=A move to Iowa%2C the,%2479%2C004 U.S. median household income.
