yep; https://www.themat.com/news/2025/april/22/senior-men-s-freestyle-seeds-released-for-2025-claw-u-s-open-championships

i don't see mcfadden on the seeds https://www.themat.com/news/2025/april/22/senior-men-s-freestyle-seeds-released-for-2025-claw-u-s-open-championships

not knocking any of the other competitors ofc i'm going w/ hendrickson over zillmer cause he has momentum and has improved a ton this past year blaze's matches w/ fix & gross were both razor thin last time. 61kg's prolly the deepest weight 79kg and 92kg are both relatively weak compared w/ the other weights which is a bit concerning for usa's team title chances come worlds. i'm hoping whoever loses at 86 & 74 bumps up to challenge the gaps really hope we get to see carr vs mesenbrink at 74kg
-
my picks: 57: Lilledahl 61: Blaze 65: Mendez 70: Yianni 74: Mesenbrink 79: Hamiti 86: Dake 92: Hidlay 97: Snyder 125: Hendrickson

he's on flo's latest entry list https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/13994872-2025-us-open-senior-level-wrestling-entries but no idea if that's accurate or not
-
the last time dake wrestled zahid at 79kg (2018):
-
yeah, would've loved to see Dake contend for another world title at 79kg.. but then again, I'm not the one who has to make weight i feel like this is zahid's time to shine w/ taylor in the room pushing him at osu. i expect it'll be a lot closer btwn zahid & dake; just hope we get to see this match. agreed, if zahid loses, would love to see him contend at 92kg again
-
also, any idea why brooks and dake didn't accept their final X bids? is dake because he's moving up in weight?
-
yeah, this list seems to be missing quite a few guys: https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/14089779-the-college-wrestling-fan-guide-to-the-2025-us-open is penn state not sending more reps?

It's been a few weeks ... Still shocked about Satiev.

only info I could find from a quick search is the wikipedia article which says he fell out of a second story window. anyone have any insights or links into what went down or why? -
yeah; he looked so excited and was jumping around. compare that w/ cool & composed cael and it's like a night & day difference. diff styles, I guess, but I agree being overly energetic / excited leads to mistakes like this one. the ref only watched the reply for like 5 seconds.

I think Lilledahl's just one of those guys who really knows how to turn it up for the biggest moments.

Gable Steveson returns to college wrestling
oldschool replied to VakAttack's topic in College Wrestling
he got dropped from WWE due to lack of interest from fans. a combo of low charisma and many fans actively disliking him for his sexual assault charges. then he briefly tried the NFL but didn't make the team which isn't surprising given that he has no real proper football experience. -
2024 UWW Senior World Championships...
oldschool replied to D3 for LU's topic in International Wrestling
Does anyone know how David Taylor does against Kyle Snyder in the room? -
Our 2024 U20 vs U23 teams: 57 kg - Luke Lilledahl (4-0, gold medalist) vs Maxwell Gallagher (5th) 61 kg - Marcus Blaze (4-1, bronze medalist) vs Nik Bouzakis (DNP) 65 kg - Bo Bassett (4-1, bronze medalist) vs Joshua Saunders (DNP) 70 kg - PJ Duke (4-1, bronze medalist) vs John Wiley (DNP) 74 kg - LaDarion Lockett (4-1, silver medalist) vs Mitchell Mesenbrink (bronze) 79 kg - Zack Ryder (4-1, silver medalist) vs Patrick Kennedy (7th) 86 kg - Josh Barr (3-1, silver medalist) vs John Gunderson (10th) 92 kg - Connor Mirasola (3-2, 5th place) vs Jacob Cardenas (silver) 97 kg - Justin Rademacher (4-1, bronze medalist) vs Massoma Endene (7th) 125 kg - Ben Kueter (3-1, silver medalist) vs Lucas Stoddard (5th) I feel like our U20 team wins 57, 61, 65, 70, 86, and 125. U23 wins 74, 92. And a tossup for 79kg and 97kg.
-
Yeah; I feel like we didn't send as many of our top guys this year. Also increasing competition from abroad. I'm wondering if our U20 team would've beat our U23 team head-to-head this year?

2024 UWW Senior World Championships...
oldschool replied to D3 for LU's topic in International Wrestling
61kg Uguev vs Ono first round Bottom side is def tougher for Vito. Maybe Tuskaev in the quarters and should be a tough semi for him likely against the winner of Uguev vs Ono. 70kg Green has as good of a quarter draw as could be expected but will likely hit Ramazanov or Kudiev in the semis. 79kg Burroughs should have Nokhodi in the quarterfinals; maybe Kentchadze or Takahashi in the semis. 92kg Taylor vs Sadulaev first round And of course Ghasempour is on the same side so the top-side semi will be the finals in all but name. --- While I'm glad we'll get to see the Taylor vs Sadulaev matchup, this is once again proof that our sport at the highest levels has clown-level rules when it comes to seeding. I know UWW wants to promote their ranking series events, but these types of lopsided brackets are just laughable for any serious sporting organization. They need to add a "common sense" clause or something to the seeding criteria. -
All ivy league colleges share a no-merit-based scholarship policy. e.g., only needs-based. So no sports scholarships which is one reason they're not usually as competitive in sports. (unless something has changed in the past 15 years since I was there) Flipping aside, I think it's great that Taylor's able to bring so much great talent to OK State. Maybe with a few more years of these caliber recruiting classes, we'll see the PSU dominance start to level out?
-
this interview def makes it seem like he's going and excited to wrestle sadulaev
-
Hope he has a full recovery and we see him on the mat again soon. It was tough to see him injured in the olympic finals this year – you could tell he really didn't want to quit.
-
Looking forward to watching the replays of Blades vs Gross and Blades vs Fix. They're both missing from Flo at the moment.
