  1. Were all of Nichols AAs when 6th was all that was placed out to?
  2. Metcalf and Burroughs were 2X champs. Jake Herbert's another. David Taylor won a title at 165 - the same weight KOT won his 2. Heavyweights Kerry McCoy, Steve Neal, Cole Konrad were each two-timers. Maybe-maybe not, but recency bias may be at play.
  3. SL was outstanding on top. Once he had a wrist, swipes were likely!
  4. Coincidentally, I read a portion of a study today about recent research from the University of New South Wales stating that "...taking 5 grams of creatine supplement per day does not make any difference to the amount of lean muscle mass people put on while resistance training." Research from the study: "54 healthy people between 18 and 50 through a 12-week resistance training program. Those in the supplement group took 5 grams of creatine daily — the recommended maintenance dose is 3 to 5 grams. Participants began creatine a week before starting the exercise program, which included three supervised resistance training sessions a week. They didn’t do a creatine-loading phase, which involves taking 20 to 25 grams daily for up to a week to rapidly saturate muscle creatine stores. The researchers said creatine loading isn’t necessary to reach saturation levels and can cause bloating or an upset stomach." Personally, I thought creatine did add size to my tris and chest and helped with recovery after runs. I did not notice notable gains in lifting performance.
  5. Hamiti with the quick ankle pick to start the match - similar to DTs v Dake in their finals match (stating the obvious by mentioning it being different results).
  6. Barring any personality issues, if any of the PSU mid-upper weights transfer out, Okie State would be a good place. Probably not a lot to clean up technique wise (as was done with Hamiti and Hendrickson), but a lot of common items via Sanderson/Cunningham/Taylor. Seems like a great fit for both parties.
  7. He's been doing a little folkstyle rolling while in the Lorenzo center. He hasn't had live matches against outsiders, but he's been getting a feel for it. It's not like he'll be learning the referees position on Day 1 of official practice in the fall of 2025. Also, there is spec that he will have 4 years of eligibility as he has not been enrolled in an American University.
  8. Didn't Mendez say he wants to win more titles at 141 than his coaches JJ and Streebler?
  9. with his logistics mos - The Punishing POG/Pogue
  10. Great thing to see on a Monday! Now watch the NCAA syndicate do the MLB money grab that they've done with the LA Dodgers and send Penn State over to Japan for duals with a couple of the unis there. And as I'm sure Jimmy C knows, Coach Oishi would probably be the better tutor/translator for Ono
  11. Maybe you're generalizing, but there's nothing in my statement diminishing Hendrickson's win over Kerkvliet. I posted that Sanderson said he was injured prior to NCAAs and that they weren't sure he'd be able to compete. As for what else you reference above, I guess you're discussing the guy that had torn ligaments in his knee, that had to get an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament and was given a 9 seed? He was clearly injured as well. I'm not a what-aboutism and cake and eat it too type. Posters claim that Kerkvliet got a case of the sads because he lost. He was injured, re-injured and shut down for the rest of the tournament. That isn't fans, that's from PSUs coach. Hendrickson had a terrific weekend and won in the semis & finals against two previous champs and proved he was the best heavy in the tournament. As I stated, he made a great case for the Hodge. For what he did during the season and how he finished, there should be no argument if he gets it.
  12. Sanderson said in his interview last night that Kerkvliet injured his knee at practice during the week and they weren't sure if he would be able to wrestle NCAAs. He explained what happened in his 1st match and how it was through Thursday. Hendrickson very well could have beaten a healthy Kerk. He won regardless and then beat Steveson. Nothing is diminished in his accomplishments. He has a great case for winning the Hodge - a very complete season. It appears you're suggesting that there was no problem with Kerkvliet and based upon what Sanderson said, that shouldn't be the narrative. One thing the Penn State staff doesn't do is make excuses.
  13. Would total freshmen finalists be another (record)? They obviously don't always win it but Cael & Co get freshmen into the finals who typically work their way into being 4X AAs (and usually a national championship or 2, 3, 4, 5).
  14. all due respect Vak, Gable went 3, 1, 1, 2.
  15. Maybe not, but with his pin of Ramos he will have ended up scoring more team points by placing third than whomever the second-place wrestler at 125 does for their team.
  16. Is it possible that AJ ends up at Michigan? They are very active in the portal/transfers and have had a few former Bergen Catholic wrestlers come in.
  17. Keep telling yourself that. Look at what each team graduates and fills those slots with. The alarming issue will be whether PSU threatens 10AAs again next year and a 30+ point margin of victory at NCAAs.
  18. They have a night at the hotel like the Pitt crew did at Midlands a number of years back?
  19. Hidlay has a great rapport with Sparks and the back-and-forth is conversational. Nothing forced and a lot is very matter of fact! It's working well.
  20. 125: Cooper Flynn, Minnie #19 133: Kyle Burwick, NDSU #24 141: Josh Edmond, Mizzu #23 149: Jaden Abas, Stanford #17 157: Jacori Teemer, Iowa #18 165: Paddy Gallagher, Ohio State #26 174: MJ Gaitan, ISU #23 184: DJ Washington, IU #22 197: Michael Dellagatta, Cornell #27 285: Luke Rasmussen, SDSU #25
  21. AJ/Glazier likely R2 match
  22. The CSUs (which Poly is one of) are either cutting entire athletic departments (Solano State) or programs all over. San Francisco State recently announced they are dropping baseball, womens soccer and indoor track n field. The wrestling program, which contributes many coaches to the high school ranks up and down the state, has been close to being cut somewhat recently, and was given a hard look. It's still something of a surprise that Humboldt brought back their program (dropped 40+ years ago at the DIII level and resurrected this past year as DII). Hoping both make it out of this.
  23. he was referencing Owings/Gable, not Cassar/Steveson (which he does to close).
