  1. Especially a jacked up guy like him, skinny guys seem to compensate better, and squatty guys are generally sturdier but its hard for them to heal.
  2. well that is the luxury of being an assistant vs a head, plus it was based on who was in his corner while he was crying and embarassing himself. I didn't say "no twins" but i'm compelled to point it out if a program feels homogeneous in a bad way. What if I admitted I'm not sure and you admit that its not a completely unfair thing to point out?
  3. You're just being obtuse.
  4. two, not identical twins, one was an 118 and the other 197, somewhere around a five year age difference. Other coaches wrestled for Illinois, and central michigan. Compare that to Iowa, you have two people with identical DNA at the Top, then two guys who wrestled for Iowa under the same two guys. See the difference? Which group is more likely to have brought in cronies and which seems like that were looking for the right people?
  5. how did he burn the askren bridge?
  6. I know this was a joke but it would be good for wrestling. The Brands' are great coaches, would add a lot to any program, but they feel dated, and I always thought it was goofy to have two on one staff, a diversity of voices (which is an advantage I think PSU has that people don't talk about) would help Iowa a lot.
  7. he does get the consulation prize that his hips are flexible enough to make it look that ridiculous. Thats a lot of injuries avoided.
  8. yeah but they have to bride the local sheriffs in Sierra Leone to get them on world teams, thats not cheap.
  9. unless you're dieringer.......which was really suspicious.
  10. Worth pointing out that it took taylor 2 years to be a legit 189...meaning you can do it, just not on a whim.
  11. don't know if you've heard about this portal thing, but he can just take him with him. If Asher can't earn a spot at PSU its even motivation.
  12. I really want to see Hidlay Ferrari before its all done.
  13. yeah thats all good. I generally try to push back on people who say "just bump up" in reference to senior level athletes.
  14. I'm really sick of this refrain about how everyone will stay put because they need money and moving is annoying....
  15. i'm sure he will but as you implied he should be gunning for a top 10 team with existing everything already in place. The only reason he shouldn't get the Iowa job is that for a casual fan/donor/recruit it seems like a lateral move.
  16. Not to bash borelli, but look at CMU pre and post Cunninghams departure.
  17. ok so based on your response I'm curious how you think he does at the trials, and if you think he belongs at 65K
  18. 1) his lack of experience, I agree if i were picking I'd take cunningham, but factor in donor hype and recruiting, two aspects which have never been more important, then taylor is a whole tier above. 2) Iowa is the place that can make it worth his while. And lets say it didn't quite make financial sense but was close, whether or not Taylor wants to be a college head is gonna supersede a relatively small financial disparity. 3) As far as uprooting his life, no one wants to do that of course, but he's exactly the person that wouldn't hesitate too. The fact that he's doing club, juice (seems like his wife does most of that just giving her credit), dad, train, and farm....this is a guy who can't sit still. Not saying you're wrong just adding nuance. I'd love to see it happen also that undermines the integrity of my claims too.
  19. no during the week or before dual meets and what not. The contact is pretty consistent.
  20. well one went from 133 to 141, the other from 125.5 to 145.5. His lack of offence has nothing to do with energy.
  21. I get your point that they weren't ignorant, and I still think its a dumb rule but once I thought about how difficult it would be to investigate (you place a bet for your girlfriend whose shaving point in a basketball game or something) I can see why its in place.
  22. it'd be a much bigger jump than pletcher and at a higher level of wrestling. His top work would suffer a lot, i don't think its possible.
  23. I'm sympathetic to the gambling thing. A stupid rule being arbitrarily enforced is the height of bureaucratic laziness and apathy. But yeah I forgot the ferrari thing. You make a deal where you're trading directly on your reputation and then it blows up in your face and you get nothing except all the damage...not fun.
  24. him and the other top coaches are on the phone with the head official pretty often, I actually think it contributes to a lot of confusion with coaches behavior, most know what the refs are being told to emphasize. I also think he wins challenges because he good cop bad cops it with cunningham.
  25. he won two i believe
