Are you sure? You’re also in the minds of the AD’s and know what you would be looking for if you had interviews lined up today with Bearclaw and Joe Lee? Or are you experienced enough in the field to know that one is automatically over the other? Do you think an AD looking for a long term resolution might give any weight to staying vs not staying? We could go on all day back and forth. The bottom line is you and I don’t know what is best for each individual kid and their decisions. All I am saying is to answer the question put forth here, maybe we should just listen to what those very individuals are telling us, instead of wanting to argue they are wrong in their decisions. It’s not me saying this is why they want to be in that room, it’s them.

Joe Lee and Mason Manville have a few big pretty rings to show for their efforts. Walling into that interview with a hand full of bling, talking about your time working with the best staff in the world, doesn’t make for a horrible interview.

Where do you get the college athlete doesn't have to sign a contract? I had to sign a contract. In fact I had to sign a new contract every year. They are one year contracts. In terms of the legal and administrative dynamics, they are beyond an apples to oranges comparison. On the athletic side of things, yes they are both athletes, yes there financial transactions involved. But this topic is about the legal and administrative side of things.

There's no point to prove here, and I'm certainly not trying to get into any manipulative word games. The only point is that each of these kids is their own individual kid, with their own ideas and aspirations and what is going on inside their head and heart, all of which you and I and 99% of others on this board have absolutely no idea of. If you go back and actually look at what I said without trying to be argumentative, it may be a little clearer: people are wondering how Penn State is able to stack these kids in a room when they could be AA's elsewhere; the language, and philosophy, and culture that comes out of that room....both coaches and kids....is that it is about more and bigger than the NCAA's, in competition and in life. Which led to my post that you had an issue with....maybe we should acknowledge there may be some truth to that. It is not up to you or I to decide what is best for the lives of kids we don't know. It may make you feel better in your own brain, but it is no factor in the matter.

If you are not the starter at Penn State, it is more likely than not that there is a multi national champ or 3-4 x all american in your weight. Would you like to research a list of people who did not win multiple national championships, but did win world and olympic medals? Further, even if you are not the starter at Penn State, it is even more likely that you are going to have better training and better coaching than in any other room.

Did you read the whole post...the parts where he says "parody' and "just kidding"

I thought a number of these guys were pretty obsessed during the Biden administration (and a few who still are).......but damn kid.

Maybe there is actually some truth to their claims that the goals in that room are bigger than the NCAA's and these kids feel that room is the best path to those goals even if it means missing a couple NCAA tournaments to get there. Is there any room outside of Dagestan with more olympic and world gold and other medals? EDIT: yeah.....what portajohn said

Micheal Franti and Spearhead: Songs From the Front Porch, has been on loop for a couple days.

Actually, that’s not what I was referring to. What I was referring to is that sometimes whether or not someone is charged or convicted is the end all be all, the court of law is the final word. And sometimes someone being convicted doesn’t really matter that much because…well…reasons. (i.e. feelings) But you certainly bring up another truth, or excuse me, observation.

Well, first.....it's a dumb azz question. I know common sense is not your strong point, but even a minimal common sense would tell you that an incident that happened on March 11 would not go to trial yet. If one wasn't so determined to just jump to the defense of certain kinds of people (sexual abusers and traffickers included), one might be able to utilize common sense a little better. As for what I'm "dancing" at.......well a little common sense would help there too, along with some objective observation skills.

agreed

Classroom discipline is certainly the responsibility of the school. To act like a child's development of discipline and accountability begins and ends at the school and not at home.......is not ridiculous but scary.

In the 80's and 90's you didn't have the opportunity to say whatever you wanted behind an anonymous keyboard. If you wanted to express some of the types of things you see here (or anything for that matter) you had to say them in person, face to face. So no.......there wasn't as much.
-
Yes definitely agree with this. And I am somewhat in that category. My first wife (with whom I have my children) we split up about 13 years ago. But I will say, and I actually just said this at our awards banquet the other night, you will be very hard pressed to find a divorced couple that works together as well as her and I do. So while we are not married, there is still very much a family unit intact, we live five minutes from each other, no single parent scenario. But anyway to your point, I know that is not the norm and I know that is a huge piece to this. Probably tied directly to my comments, as in those situations, unfortunately a lot of the time, the parents are more focused on being the favorite parent, than they are focused on raising strong and well equipped man or woman. And that's were entitlement goes up, and accountability goes down.
-
Clearly explained in the post you quoted.
-
Agree with most of what you say here, but with a very large omission of what is a huuuuuuge source of those problems you speak of……..PARENTS. Our, my generation of parents. And I say this with much experience, it is why I got out of public schools, because my peers are raising these kids with ten times the amount of entitlement than there is accountability. When Johnny doesn’t do the things he’s supposed to do because he knows mom and dad will back him up if he doesn’t want to do it….theres not much the teacher can do. And that type of thing is not at all rare these days.

Waiting until after the attack to bring this out out in the open is exactly the right thing to do. THAT is the role of the media in our constitution. Being the government watchdog. Not covering up for pumping up your favorite candidate while finding anything you can do to trash the other side. It’s been so long since the media has actually performed their given role in the Constitution, we don’t know what to think of it when it happens.
