The classic, I know something you don't but I am not going to say what it is...

Yes, the HOF was intended to be hyperbole but you were flabbergasted that there is still wide range on his potential has a coach. He did a good job coaching 1 of 10 guys for 1 season. Chertow was an assistant on a runner-up team and that being Gilman's floor is not crazy.
-
He should get credit for Spratley but 125 is such a toss up weight. He was at PSU last year when Davis didn't AA and none of their other lightweight at OSU AA'd, including 133 who didn't qualify for NCAAs. He did a good job this year but he has only coached for 1 year. Let's not put him in the HOF of coaches just yet.

And I thought when they were called Okie Lite it was offensive because of the "Lite" part so I always try and be respectful and call them Okie State.

Unless you want to go down the donor dinner rumor mill, the most likely story is he wants to go back closer to his wife's family and didn't love coaching enough to continue to make the sacrifice.

I actually thought Pinto looked better at 174 once he got acclimated to the weight. He always seemed a little puffy at 184. Haines was coming up from 157 so while I think he filled out the weight well, I don't know if he was the biggest 174 either.

UNC is a good school but its not impossible to get into. Has admissions standards similar to Michigan and other top B1G schools. Plus they make exceptions for really good basketball players, I am sure they can get AJ in, who probably has a respectable transcript. I assume UNC main donor/NIL person s the guy that lured Koll to comback. I haven't seen the rumor of AJ's deal, but I would almost bet its going to be inflated more than his actual deal.

Interesting. Iowa was the speculation ever since he took his Medical year and they need a 197. All of the other contenders don't really need a 197 (to my knowledge) so it could Iowa or bust.

Thanks Mr. PB

Ben Keuter - wrestling only going forward it seems

My bad. -

What does that mean? Not hating but when I think of Dake I think 4xer, went up every year in college, stuck behind a legend on the international scene before breaking through and winning worlds. Kueter can be a world champ but curious why you used Dake as the comp? -
PSU's Eric Gibson -174 is in the portal

Not every Nebraska star is B1G caliber. Obviously Trumble is and they did go after him, just lost the recruiting battle.
-
Holy Strawman, Batman... Saying the word "fact" before making a statement doesn't actually make it true. What are you talking about?? Not one person has accused PSU of a rule violation or a massive conspiracy, including myself, who just challenged the ridiculous notion that Rocco is only getting some minimal NIL deal that all PSU athletes get. Just because you offer less than somone else doesn't meant PSU is offering nothing or the minimum deal everyone else gets. Cael recruiting over Ryder isn't a crime, rule violation or conspiracy, but it is a fact because it actually happened.
-
What "facts" point this this???
-
Nebraska did go after Trumble, but were a little late and couldn't make up the ground NCSt had made by getting in early. Nebraska HS talent has come a long ways recently but it wasn't good enough for the first 20 years Manning was in Lincoln to build a strong B1G team. I don't think they did not want NE kids but they probably were defaulting to the areas where they had built strong recruiting ties over the local scene that hadn't historically produce D1 AAs regularly.
-
No chance Rocco is getting the same deal that Gary Steen was getting (before he transferred).
-
You are really reading a ton into the "we build, we don't buy" quote. Getting 1 or 2 guys to supplement holes doesn't mean you "bought" a trophy, especially when the other trophy teams have more transfers and are spending more on NIL. He never said they wouldn't go after a top transfer either. Manning acknowledged they use NIL, but they don't have the NIL money to spend as much as other programs so they have to build guys.

Did PSUs weak schedule ruin starocci’s chances of the hodge?
Dogbone replied to Caveira's topic in College Wrestling
It wasn't the schedule. He wasn't even the most dominate wrestler on his own team, but the strength of competition at 184 put him above MM who was more dominate. Carter is the reason Carter didn't win the Hodge. He wanted to control matches and not take much risk so he could win matches. Thanks to the 3 point TD, he was able to increase his bonus rate but he wasn't out trying to dominate or tech his opponents. If Carter went for techs and domination, he would of won the Hodge. -
- This assumes a huge falsehood that Rocco isn't getting any NIL. - What should PSU do when Rocco called? It's crazy no one thinks Cael could of said "we like our guy at 184" He does have he ability to say no thanks. He wanted Rocco or Rocco wouldn't be on campus and he surely knew losing Ryder was a risk he was willing to take. You don't check with Ryder first unless his response changes your decision to take Rocco. - These kids only get 4 years to wrestle, while there a few room guys happy to be on the team, you can't blame Ryder for wanting to maximize his limited time in NCAA wrestling. Even if he thinks he can beat Rocco.

Welsh said he wants to go 184. I don't know why Barr would go down, he is the returning finalist If PSU buys AJ and bumps him to HWT, then it eliminates his biggest threat and Barr will enter next year as a strong favorite. Marasolas might need to get "hurt" playing dodgeball and get a medical to avoid losing a year of eligibility.
