Does he stay in Stillwater for the next cycle? He seems to bleed Okie St. Orange as much as anyone. If DT cleans house and doesn't retain any OSU guys, does Fix remain in Stillwater?
-
Can't guys still enter the Portal? Now that the deadline has passed, they just need a waiver from their prior University to make them eligible next year or did that change?

The time I was indicating was actually Lindland when it was ruled that USAW process was not fair and equitable to the athlete. I also understand your argument (3>4) and agree that it would be the likely outcome of any hypothetical challenge/lawsuit. Just because I don't find procedural arguments compelling when the parting setting the procedure wasn't forthcoming, doesn't mean that is how it will play out.

If you are ignoring all the money and resources that PSU has thrown at wrestling, I guess. PSU/NWLC have had a leg up on the field for a while, in part because Cael saw that possibility there and not at ISU.
-
I get your point. What is different for me is that 1) USAW didn't disclose that Brooks could be ineligible and 2) we know there will be a non-Olympic world championship and Zahid by being a returning medalist will be sitting out until the finals and de-facto #2 on the 92KG world team even if he loses. What is point of the wrestlebacks and determining the "team". Stipend, opportunity to compete oversees, etc. If Zahid is already getting those things by being on the 92KG rep/team member then he doesn't have a purpose to wrestle for the 3rd spot at 86KG. It's not like he just quit and said he didn't want to be a team member. He will be on the 92 KG team if he wants. For USAW to claim their policy is the #3 guy gets moved up no matter what, but also not disclose the known possibility that this could occur as it might of changed Zahid's decision when he otherwise had no benefit to challenge for 3rd is the stuff that lawsuits are made of. This isn't a guy got hurt so everyone move up situation, this is USAW not disclosing a possible outcome that could have impact on the team/rep. It wouldn't be the first time USAW procedure to be overturned in court.

If I am Zahid I try and sue. If I am Hidlay, I also try and sue. Now, both may lose but I would still try it. Hilday lost to Marsteller on the front side and was never going to make the team if Brooks was ineligible, but has a legitimate claim because he finished 3rd on the backside. Zahid may actually be our best rep, unless USAW has a rule that you forfeit any chance you have to be on the team if you MFF out, then it is worth a shot.

Not to mention, he would have to have some commitment that Gable will stay in Minnesota and train with him the entire year. Gable has been known to go back and forth, I wouldn't commit to Minnesota just because Gable said he was planning to return.
-
No it wouldn't. If you think you have a 1% chance of being the in Olympics, you take it. Nothing awkward about it. I don' think he has a losing case because he didn't wrestle the true 3rd. Of course, I could be wrong but there would be nothing ducking awkward about it.

This doesn't seem that big a deal to me. All Cael needs to say is I didn't want you to know so that you weren't distracted and approached the matches like you had to win it. - Also could be what actually happened. I don't know why not knowing would upset DT that would sour him on PSU.
-
I would bet Zahid files a lawsuit to get a challenge match with DT if Brooks is ineligible. We have seen guys make legal challenges before and Zahid was an inadvertent singlet pull away from beating Brooks in State College. It seems like he would have a good case.

Finesilver unable to compete in Olympic qualifier

Yes. Security will be much higher in Paris than in Istanbul. -
Minnow is spreading a rumor that Brooks was popped for Adrenal at U23 last year, making him ineligible for the Olympics and that USA wrestling was aware but didn't disclose it to anyone as they think they can win an appeal, but if not DT will get the spot despite not winning a match at the trials.

Why are you assuming PSU will hire a first time coach as the next head coach after Cael? If DT, or anyone mentioned, is running a successful program when Cael retires, they can still be hired away by PSU. DT, Dake (??), Nolf, Zain, should all get into coaching if that is what they want to do. If they are good enough they will get an opportunity to be the coach to succeed Cael.

Thanks. I must of missed it. No need to dig it up, I will take your word.

In non revenue sports? Honest question as I could see it happening in basketball and football but I don't follow Wisconsin's non revenue sports enough to know.

What does baseline security mean? So Israel doesn't think their athletes will be safe and need more than baseline security. Even if they have been guaranteed maximum military safety and it is politically motivated, it is the not the first nor will it be the last time international politics impact sports. Yes, it sucks for the athletes. -
Good for you to keep trying, but he obviously doesn't know or want to know what he is talking about. It's a lost cause. This all started because the conversation was about Gable investing his money. He signed his WWE deal in Sept. 2021. The S&P on 10/1/21 was $4,357 and it currently $5,516 or up about 18%. You have to try and be ignorant to claim Gable couldn't be well on his way to getting 7-8% return to retire. Most likely he just wanted to point out that inflation is currently higher than it has been historically (maybe politically motivated) and now is double/tripling down on poor investing statements instead of admitting the original claim Dark Energy was very responsible and probably conservative.

Per Willie, CAM AMINE is in the portal! This shocks me considering the Amine family history at Michigan.

Wrecked?? Ha. I guess if you only watch PSU wrestle you might not know David Carr is really good at wrestling (I'm joking, I know you know your stuff) David Carr is a 2x NC who would be a 3xer if KOT wasn't in his weight; KOT is a 2x NC who would be 3xer (by now) if Carr wasn't in his weight. Carr or KOT would be the best wrestler Starocci has faced in college and he doesn't wreck the top guys. It's likely a close match that comes down to a scramble or 1 exchange.

No group think here... Everyone has independently thought a wrestling room is terrible if it doesn't have natural light and the same facility would be better if it had windows. Always the number one thing you hear when talking about a facility, "whats the window situation" Thank goodness Cael, JB, John Smith, etc. all lifted and trained in naturally lit buildings that led to their gold medals success....
-
I am not convinced he wins 174 if KOT goes up. He wins 184 but it would be nice to see him and PK. Both finalist leave 197 and its probably the easiest of the 3 weights.

Sax to Oklahoma.

Well, Minneo didn't mention the $500K until after Willie said he was going in. It's not like Mineo to sit on anything so I would guess he is just making stuff up. I'm sure Iowa will offer a strong NIL offer but I doubt Mineo actually has a clue what it is.

Women's wrestling should take the lead and become a 1 semester season. Start in January and end in April with the championships set away from the Men's wrestling and BB tourneys. If it gains traction it could lead to Men Wrestling following.
