Good recap. Thanks for putting it together. Not that surprising. I expect the margins of victory to look different but the results to be similar. Generally, if someone gets more TDs they typically win. I know there a few exceptions but 1 out of 30 seems about right. My fear is we will see more stalling in the 3rd since the margin will be wider and the impact of a stalling call will be less severe. Hope that isn't the case.

Is there list of potential matchups out there?
-
Yep, short guys are not good at wrestling... Everyone knows that height is a big advantage and the tallest guy at each weight usually wins. Hopefully Brooks can still AA despite this large disadvantage.

I'll take Brooks over AJ at 197. Is AJ a lock to get admitted into Iowa? If he didn't leave OSU in good standing academically or was kicked out, it could be an uphill battle with the Iowa admissions office.
-
To my knowledge nothing since May when they basically said “approximately 15” student-athletes from football, wrestling and track and field may have violated NCAA rules."
-
Gomez is obviously a title contender. The only team race is for spots 2-4. Whether the road to the Olympics or NCAA Finals is easier it probably depends on his draw at Pan Ams. If he gets on USA side, then NCAA Finals is more likely. If not, then Olympics is more likely. If we are saying better odds, then NCAA finals as that has a higher probability regardless of his Oly qualifer draws.

I think that is what some speculated but the NCAA has never released anything publicly, even against Iowa. The Iowa suspension only come out from speculation and the Nelson Brands tweet but I am not a aware of a public statement that names or clearly states anyone(s) actual suspension. Everything has been quite with Iowa State so less facts are public but we do know the NCAA was investigating ISU wrestlers and Johnson was charged with a crime. That doesn't mean he would face a suspension but also I don't think he is definitely in the clear unless the NCAA backs off all gambling except for on you own team.
-
I am skeptical that this will help the Iowa and Iowa St wrestlers. Mainly because this would require the NCAA to be reasonable and thoughtful regarding the severity of the punishment with the rule be broken.

Terry Brands applied for the UNC Head Coach job?

Recruiting is part of a coach's responsibilities too. Not sure why it gets discounted. -

The interesting thing with regard to Spencer is (I believe) he signed with HWC through 2028. If Terry leaves I doubt his contract with HWC would allow him to leave. I am sure they would work something out (if Spencer even would want out) but Terry leaving could have a greater impact on the HWC than the Hawkeyes. -
Stanford wrestling's future?

Wow. Good for Standford. I don't know any of the details but that seems like quite a coup to get Ayers to leave the east coast. Doesn't his daughter wrestle on Princeton's club? -
Iowa targeting an 8th transfer starter - Travis Wittlake
Dogbone replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
Those 4 could realistically score ~65 points. I don't think Iowa's transfers will score that many. Michigan's transfers would probably be the contender, but I could be missing another team. -

NCAA points from transfers in KC: PSU > Everyone else... -
You have to think Ramos is the front runner. I would guess they will interview him and see how the season goes, while doing a national search to see if any Homerun hire want the job. I doubt they pass over Ramos for another assistant (I don't think Cunningham is viable but I suppose he would be the exception).
-
I thought Koll just got a re commitment from Stanford after he flirted with the OU job so that one seems unlikely (but what do I know).
-
Esposito is taking the USA Freestyle development job and rumors are Coleman Scott is returning to be head coach in waiting. Who does UNC hire? Assuming Ramos has the inside track, especially this close to the start of the season. Any other potential names?

Big 10, Big 12, and Pac 12 shuffle (maybe) coming in hot
Dogbone replied to bnwtwg's topic in College Wrestling
This is where I stopped reading... JK. In all seriousness, I understand your point and agree that University Presidents/Chancellors care more about academics than athletics and value the research dollars and ability to bring in the best professors as it has the greater chance to improve their academic reputation/ranking. I believe schools have experienced an increase in enrollment when they have had national success in football/basketball so I do think you can make an argument for the 5 star QB, but your point, especially the long term viewpoint remains. Being included in the Big 10 academic alliance is a big deal for them, no question. It is one of the reason any President/chancellor the Big 10 ask to join is going to accept. BUT it is not the sole criteria for the Big 10 conference to invite new members as Stanford would bring more to the table both academically and overall athletic success. It's football that is driving the bus. -

Are we pretending Universities are run like for profit businesses or like public institutions? Not sure I follow the financially part of the question. -
Every time conference realignment comes up: Everybody else outside of wrestling: Silence Wrestling Community: Maybe this new school will add wrestling. This could be great, just think if "X" was the coach Everybody else: Still silence Wrestling community: but maybe? Everybody else: And dilute all of this new money on a non revenue generating sport, why? /end scene. Until another school gets added to the B1G or B12, then repeat.

I wish it wasn't the case, but I don't see any of the new schools adding wresting. -
1) Star 2) Brooks 3/4) Carr/O'Toole - I get O'Toole won the last and most important one but was still 1-2 v. Carr this year. I don't think O'Toole goes 3-0 against him next year so these probably flip flop on who won last. I would put Carr slightly higher since we has the winning record H2H but know that is a minority viewpoint.

Thanks! The one thing I would clarify is the ~20 bets with the Draftkings ID in the complaint are not the totality of the alleged bets. So not $2K a bet. Most likely they are just the ones where they think they can prove it was him making bets under his mom's account. The complaint alleges that the bets were placed on his phone in locations where only he should be (not available to the public) so I am guessing that is why those particular ID are listed in the complaint.
