  1. I had a dual meet come down to one team point the other day. My parents were naturally curious as how it worked and when you actually explain the current setup. It can get convoluted real quick
  2. I think it will naturally encourage matches to be more exciting as well
  3. Of course it is.. I won’t be there. What other reason you need lol
  4. It tells you something that literally none of the other Illinois people had a problem with my opinion of that area lol
  5. That literally almost happened to me my first year in Chicago. I looked up directions to NW. then was told I had to drive for over an hour of bad traffic to go watch
  6. I’m well aware. I probably would have lost a dual I won recently if they changed the rules. But I still think it would help especially with fans. I also would like to do dual meets with 11 or 13 weights. 14 for tournaments. Criteria 1. Weights with matches MUST be wrestled first 2. alternating picks by coach of weight class minimize forfeits without actually cutting weights
  7. True. My point about overall decline stands
  8. Agree Willie should have just taken it over. Another location would be great but idk where you would put it instead in Chicagoland. My jokes about Schaumburg notwithstanding. ALL the tournaments will continue decline, just like good dual meet matchups if the current incentive structure continues Some sort or committee or commission to coordinate teams to maximize number at certain events would be nice but we know it won’t happen
  9. That’s for former presidential candidate Bob Dole to decide. I of course will abide by his decision as.. I don’t really care that much. And I do this forum when not busy with work or other things. Hence why I missed the error in the title. An occasional typo is going to happen.
  10. Mods can I edit the title please
  11. Some of my least favorite people are from that area lol. I’m refraining from talking bad about the area in general.. but.. I wouldn’t wish those people on Iowa lol
  12. Decided to post here and not the HS thread so hopefully it gets traction. I think we need to make dual meet team scoring much more simple for a host of reasons. I’ve more and more come around to “a point scored is a point earned” type of idea. Basically if a match ends 10-2. The team score is 10-2. Add 10-15 points for pins. I think simplicity and an extra incentive for athletes to score points are greatly needed. I think people forget how convoluted and weird normal team points can seem to an outsider. I don’t want to overload the first post. But I do ask people actually discuss ideas and not just cover their ears and scream
  13. *Northwestern University lol
  14. They need to bring the tournament back to northwestern. I’m not driving out to freaking Schaumburg to watch
  15. Like others have said. Smith has seemed a bit fried mentally/burned out the last few years. Any coach that’s done it as well as he has for so long gets my props. Me and my buddies were joking about how we now understood in our bones how and why Gable retired so early lol. I actually might root for Fix to win now. I don’t want Smiths last NC to be.. Ferrari.
  16. You got 15 minutes to edit. Thus says lord Dole. Rejoice and be glad, it minimizes chicanery.
  17. Unless one can “acquire” talent. The trend in wrestling for mid tier programs is this. The athletes are either 1-3s or 7-10s. The days of having the “average” guys around a 4-6 if you will is disappearing
  18. Shrug, what they mean by fun is often misinterpreted I think
  19. Agree to disagree. I think Fix is too dependent on bully boy wrestling lately to go up being so short limbed
  20. A big one. Someone used his interview about it as an argument for matside weigh ins
  21. As a squat person who was stuck in the position of. Cutting to 149 was.. a chore but having a leverage/length disadvantage at 157. I have a strong feeling that’s been a big reason for why Fix probably hasn’t ever considered going up. Its not “just” height. It’s the limb length relative to build Its actually why I get so irritated when people are like “oh my gawd, that there skinny fella with long limbs seems really wrasslin strong” because it makes it look like they never wrestled a long lanky person. But if you point that out they get butthurt like ban boy did over people pointing out his underhook probably wasn’t the best
  22. Fix is too short for 141
  23. Iowa state will be in position for a team trophy. every team including penn state will look far more vulnerable than most expect There will be at least <5 seed national champs. Watch these predictions crash and fail spectacularly
  24. Don’t sleep on Griffith
