  2. Shouldn't have been a takedown for Surber. Ref reviews his own call.
  3. Minny leads Wiscy 18-3 at halftime. Gophers wrestled true freshman 125 pounder Blake Beissel at 133 and lost to Fugitt 8-4. Cooper Flynn needed a last second takedown and nearfall to beat Rivera at 125.
  4. He should have just looked away from that crossface.
  5. For what it's worth, Steveson was working out regularly with the Gophers and the Minnesota RTC in the year leading up to the 2024 Olympics. My understanding is that he had hoped to compete in the Olympics if it worked out with his WWE obligations. Ultimately the WWE but the kibosh on that idea, and then cut him shortly thereafter. I don't remember the exact timing, but I think it was just weeks before the Olympics and Mason Parris was already set as the team member.
  6. Or this...
  7. This is an appropriate celebration.
  8. Being the worst Big 10 team is like being the ugliest girl in a beauty pageant.
  9. Hopke had surgery in August or September and hasn't been wrestling yet, unless he has just recently started back at it again.
  10. Nelson Brands, Jacori Teemer, Gable Steveson, Sammy Sasso, Brock Hardy (just a Jr.), Michael Beard, Gavin Hoffman, Seth Nevills, Jakob Comacho, all graduated in 2018 and are still competing in college. As far as Olympic redshirt, someone like Gable who actually won an Olympic gold medal and won the '23 national FS world team trials certainly deserves one more than Ferarri, a 23-year-old sophomore who didn't wrestle freestyle at all last cycle.
  11. There are a bunch of guys still wrestling in the NCAA from the same high school class as him. Are you upset about all of them too?
  12. 157 RS Charlie Millard, Minnesota over #6 Cody Chittum, ISU 9-4 decision at Cyclone Open finals.

  14. Nice win for Lovett. Really good on top.
  15. I've noticed that a lot when one guy drops to a weight and the other moves up, the one moving up looks bigger to me. Must be some kind jedi mind trick.
  16. That was the best Brands interview I've ever heard! More insightful than normal.
  17. Love me a Bulliet Old fashioned, but I prefer a small dose of really good maple syrup instead of simple syrup made with sugar.
  18. UR Sam Cartella, Northwestern over #11 Kannon Webster, Ill
  19. Well, take off the last part of my quote and just leave it as "He had the flu". The Gophers scratched 13 guys at the last minute. If they had the same bug I had that week, I wouldn't have considered getting out of my chair, let alone wrestling in an unnecessary open tournament.
  20. He had the flu. You don't want a guy taking his first college loss at an open tournament when he's sick.
  21. Whittmer, Mena, Ironside was a pretty salty 1-2-3 back in 1997. Finished 1st 2nd 1st.
  22. Gophers use some of their former star wrestlers, Mack Reiter and others, for home Big Ten duals.
  23. It looked like Whiting mouthed to Eggum not to throw the brick, as if he knew he did it.
  24. It doesn't bother me. Sometimes kind of funny...fist to the back, etc. You can always turn the sound off. I'm old enough to remember when the only option to watch high caliber wrestling was to drive for half a day and pay for gas, admission, food, lodging.
