  1. I've never thought of weight as an advantage for your better than average heavyweights. There is pretty much an inverse relationship between body weight and speed/mobility, as long as skill level is about even. Someone should do a study of high school and college Hwts to see how often the heavier guy wins, using a sample of random dual meets or tournaments. In college it seems like the sweet spot is around 250 lbs. Big enough to not get pushed around, but not so big that they slow down.
  2. I want to see Mesenbrink against an adult male chimp, mono a mono, scratch weight. If it's jungle rules, surely the chimp wins, by using its treacherous tactics. However, if you make face ripping, eye gouging, and genital biting all illegal it might be a good match.
  3. Yeah, the schools may be allowed to have 30 full ride scholies, but that doesn't mean that they will have the funding to do so. In fact, few if any will.
  4. At one time, the site showed their weigh-ins. I think they were something like Cole M. 218, Mocco 230, Hopke 250, Merrill and Dellegata around 265. I don't remember what Ross was, probably somewhat similar to Mirasola. Don't trust me on these completely, I'm going from memory.
  5. Minnesota had a 1st, 3rd, 7th, 8th, and another (Millard) who MFF'd after starting 3-0. These were all true or redshirt freshmen, and McEnelly was the only one who was a starter for the Gophers.
  6. Where did he go to high school? I want to say Jackson County or whatever they were called then?
  7. One of my college teammates just took 3rd in the D division. He was a weight class below me and a couple years younger, so I practiced with him some. He wrestled only about 10 pounds heavier than his college weight! I was that much over the day after a competition, and now about 30 pounds over.
  8. Medical certificate? I need a defibrillator and an oxygen tank in my corner.
  9. What are the age cut offs for the various Masters divisions? I'm just curious how the guys look at my age and weight that would have whooped me if I had entered.
  10. I wondered the same. He was at 133 last year and went 9-3. It would be cool to see 3 Minnesota kids in a row in a college lineup, but I think 141 could be the best weight for all three.
  11. I haven't seen him live, but to me he looks like a bulked up 174 pounder. I think he will have leverage problems against the top guys.
  12. He's predicted more transfers than Robert Kiyosaki has predicted recessions.
  13. Somewhere outside the Big10, where guys shut down his offense pretty easily it seemed. He needs to free up his offense and let the fur fly. He is an offensive dynamo when he isn't worried about defensive reattacks.
  14. These are awesome!
  15. Washed up podcast Episode 12 Washed Up Podcast #12 | Rokfin
  16. I was hoping for this too. Askren said that AWA will be opening an RTC soon though, so that may be a more likely club for PK.
  17. When's the documentary come out about the guy who beat him the last several times they wrestled?
  18. This would not be how I would imagine these matchups going.
  19. He said that he wasn't sure yet but it was a fairly tough cut this year and he now weighs 225.
  20. Sounds like someone wasn't being a team player. Big donors expect and deserve certain perks.
  21. Volk and Flynn are both decent sized 125 pounders (at least not undersized). My guess is Gopher strength coach, Scott McWilliams works his magic and puts 8 pounds on Flynn's frame.
