  1. I think we found Shane Sparks' new burner account.
  2. I like Zac Braunagel's prospects in challenging for the 197 spot in this lineup. He had an identical dual meet record to Warner (9-4) this year, but a key difference is that Braunagel started every Illini dual, while Warner sat out a few (including vs Wisconsin where Iowa took a loss at 197 and had to squeak by on criteria). Zach also had a better conference dual record, and won head to head against Warner in the dual vs Iowa.
  3. Chat GPT should update its calendar. Gable's ncaa wrestling (competitive) career was over 50 years ago...
  4. I don't want to brag, but reading these forums, I eventually did figure out (prior to this thread) what HEW meant simply through context clues (took me several times seeing it in print to make the connection though!). However, I fail to see what the Backstreet Boys have to do with any of this.
  5. Which definition of the word? The one where it means peddling shady merchandise on the street, or the one having to with coughing up excess phlegm.
  6. Lucas Byrd at 132 and 133 would be insane. opposing teams would never find momentum again, and ILLINOIS would would go undefeated in dual meets!
  7. To really pollute this thread, that's exactly what caused Hastert to finally go down...
  8. presumably would be #1 if it had more product placements for Resilite...
  9. like top 5 wrestling movie or top 5 all time any film?
  10. Link kind of short on details. Is this student-athletes having fun with a low stakes march madness pool, or something more serious?
  11. smart to wait out most of the the covid-year benefitting super seniors.
  12. Nice that we send a strong team. In some sports the all the major stars ignore competitions like this.
  13. From recent post in another thread: Iconic wrestling coach & minor character in a '90s sitcom.
  14. You know, I always though Cedric had a strong resemblance to Dan Gable... could be why Kramer didn't put up a fight.
  15. It was said that Smith was so fast that his hands would sometimes appear to be invisible. The tales of Marx's prowess in the practice room are exaggerated from what I've read - the reality is that he refused to join any wrestling club that would stoop to the level of admitting him as a member.
  16. The sunlight would kill all the microorganisms on the mats. No need for the UV mops!
  17. I think a fan would have a blast if they chose a hotel in/near the west loop and were up for a little bit of walking. Yeah, always unplanned...probably about half of the time I fly home connecting through O'Hare. Agree it sucks, but the upside is many cheap hotel rooms, and close to the airport. and Allstate is probably a better sized arena for the NCAA tournament anyway? Not saying chicago would be the best choice, it's certainly a viable option.
  18. The United Center or the Allstate Arena (fka Rosemont Horizon). How is this complicated?
  19. Sure, at the NCAA tournament level they are tough to come by. but in a regular duals, I saw quite a few techs this year. Doesn't take too many turns to tech an inferior wrestler. In reality, that may be a good thing though. sort of a penalty for not being able to put away the match by fall, once you turn them a third time and don't pin, it'll just be a TF.
  20. If anything, 3pt TD could be seen as compensating for bumping up NF to 4 some years back. edit: misread TF as NF, so my post doesn’t really make sense. Still, I think a major even with 3 pt TD is fine. majors aren’t east to come by against good competition. Will see how this goes though. If majors come too easy, I’m wiling to change my mind. techs are already kind of too easy due to 4pt near falls, so I do agree with you on the matter if tech falls.
  21. (Effectively) Taking away riding time just encourages stalling on bottom.
  22. Also crazy how much stuff is on video and easily accessible online these days!
  23. another observation about 3-point takedown were it to be approved. I don't think it would impact too many match outcomes W or L, but it certainly will make it easier to score a major decision, which I think is a good thing for duals. Currently to get a major, it's a takes quite a bit of work, but with 3 for a TD, I'm thinking you could have a major from a match that looks much closer that it would have in the past. edit: oops, looks like this point was already made but i hadn't read the reply above before submitting!
