  1. Yeah, this story is not gonna instill a lot of confidence in recruits. It could be the case that there wasn't much left for Smith to do. I mean, Fix was in the Cowboy program from birth. He likely knew everything Smith had to teach him. But this possibility is just as damning. It suggests that Smith and his methods have stagnated. I'm not saying anything new, and it's hyperbole born out of frustration.
  2. Old news: I take it that the ordeal was/is beyond explanation, no?
  3. I thought Figs would wrestle one match the way he wrestled Spratley. Every round I would wait for that match, and every round it wouldn't come. Instead of seeing that he was on, I figured he would wrestle that match in the finals. I was wrong.
  4. Yeah ... and silence on the set. The circus at 133 has pushed me over the edge.
  5. I disagree. It should be like tennis: no coaching during the match.
  6. Good point. What about if he started his flurry at :50? ** Edit ** However, if it were just a 1 point stall, then Carr for sure gets hit.
  7. Yeah, it seems like JS uses the brick like a fan sitting at home would.
  8. If no td, can't imagine a scenario where he doesn't get the 2-point stall call.
  9. Mesenbrink's dad seems like a pretty involved parent. Does he give Cael a talking to?
  10. All hail the Edgelord!
  11. I'm not done talking about this, and my wife and kids are still getting up. So, here goes... First, a disclaimer: While I have been an OSU fan all of my life (a legacy case), I stan with Ragusin. John Smith worries about the refs and intricacies of skirting the rules way too much. He did it as an athlete, and he does it as a coach. I imagine it was a part of Cowboy wrestling culture when he got there, and he has carried on the tradition. This preoccupation wins some matches (Fix vs Suriano part 1) and loses some matches (Fix vs Suriano part 2). I can't say if it leads to more wins than loses, but it does leave me with a bad taste in my mouth either way. It just seems that constantly trying to game the system is bad juju. But last night, what other options did they have? Every time Fix moved forward or even thought about initiating action, he got burned. The only time he got close to scoring was in the scramble on the edge, a scramble initiated by Vito's attack. If you know you're outmatched going in -- like the dude's got more physical and technical tools in every position -- do you just concede? Or do you do try to stall, bitch, and brick your way to victory?
  12. I think they are inconsistent.
  13. Let's give credit where credit is due bc he learned from the best: Perry-ism tactics.
  14. To be fair, his go-to moves ... errr only scoring moves ... are "high flying": the inside trip and the leg wingroll thing on bottom.
  15. JS is the GOAT, but his matside manner is shameless. **Edit** I know that I completely misrepresented what you said. I'm just really frustrated with my team.
  16. What ever happened to the crab ride?
  17. 125 I don't trust Figs or ASU. Going with A tale 133 Vito w/ at least 3 takedowns 141 Bartlett. OSU gets out over his skis, gives up an early takedown, and has to play catch up ... can't 149 Henson. 157 Haines. Again, I don't trust ASU. 165 Carr. Ugghh ... I'm a moron for not picking the team and kid who always show up and exceed expectations 174 CStarr 184 Keck. Not as brutal as Big 12 but never in doubt 197 Brooks with at least 3 takedowns HWT psu
  18. Philippi
  19. How many AAs does Askren have this year and how many team points would Askren U have scored?
  20. Better question: Will the Cowboys even get an opportunity to throw a brick ... or beg for the brickless review? I say no. There won't be any opportunity for Fix to question a call.
  21. Smith and Co are shameless.
  22. Sanderson did what to the National duals?
  23. No, I mean his refusal to open up in big matches. They were all elite, yet they all wrestled tight in big matches. They wrestled like they were scared to make a mistake, like if they gave up a takedown it was over. A boost in confidence didn't seem to come along with those national championships.
