  2. well said. I am curious, but far less disciplined and methodical and I appreciate him for all of these traits
  3. I just noticed North Dakota State did a clean wipe of their roster of anyone who had previously entered the transfer portal. They are left with only a handful of guys that were on the team last year, combined with a large group of red shirt freshman, and bunch of incoming transfers Weight Name Class Status Count 125 #163 Witt, Ezekiel St FR True Freshman 1 125 #163 Tanimoto, Kody FR Redshirt 2 125 #163 O'Brien, Sean FR Redshirt 3 133 #42 Burwick, Kyle St SR Incoming Transfer 4 133 #188 Olson, Michael FR Redshirt 5 141 #70 Drexler, Gavin St SO Returning Wrestler 6 141 #173 Moore, Peyton SO Incoming Transfer 7 149 #39 Petersen, Maxwell St SO Returning Wrestler 8 149 #25 March, Kellyn SR Returning Wrestler 9 149 #168 Radenz, Clay JR Returning Wrestler 10 157 #58 Greenley, Boeden St RSFR Returning Wrestler 11 157 #127 Schumm, Gabriel JR Returning Wrestler 12 165 #60 Howes, Brendan St SO Returning Wrestler 13 165 #192 Hutchings, Dante FR Redshirt 14 165 #269 Barker, Luke RSFR Returning Wrestler 15 174 #90 Wasley, Devin St SO Incoming Transfer 16 174 #193 Magayna, Max FR Redshirt 17 174 #193 Secoy, Tyler FR Redshirt 18 184 #84 Cherne, Adam St SO Returning Wrestler 19 184 #83 Brenot, Aidan RSFR Returning Wrestler 20 184 #159 McMonagle, Andrew FR Redshirt 21 184 #159 Glover, Tayshaun FR Redshirt 22 184 #159 Schneck, Barrett FR Redshirt 23 197 #123 Baker, Michael St SR Incoming Transfer 24 197 #154 Whitright, Bradley JR Incoming Transfer 25 197 #154 Hight, Aiden FR Redshirt 26 285 #81 Blackburn-Forst, Andrew St SO Incoming Transfer 27 285 #168 Huff, Schey FR Redshirt 28 285 #168 Jones, Shilo FR Redshirt 29
  4. I can't help but think as I look at this list about the awkwardness of some of these situations where its going to be literally one person that doesn't get to make the roster and the other 30 do (like in Northern Iowa's case)
  5. Tyler Badgett from Pitt to the Citadel
  6. People are resilient and push envelopes and think of creative ways to respond to nonsense. If I was a head coach of a program that usually ran a bigger team than 30, I would try and get around the rule by having a larger group in practice and then there would be wrestle-offs or another form of assessment to determine which of that crew got to be officially listed on the roster. For those that couldn't make it the first time, stick around, keep practicing, and you'll get your shot again. They may just not be formally listed on the roster any longer
  7. With Michael North moving on from college wrestling, Dario Lemus completing his redshirt and ready to start at 141, the younger brother Kal Miller is bumping from 141 to 157 while Ethen stays at 149. Separately David Szuba, heavyweight MAC champion last year is redshirting this year as a senior.
  8. West Point has nearly 70 kids. Does this apply to the military academies?
  9. Sacred Heart has 55 wrestlers currently on their roster. They are among the biggest teams that will need to be chopped down nearly in half
  10. Also if Mesenbrink was so smart, shouldn't he have known the score in his own finals match? Or maybe he's better with the arts than sciences?
  11. Northern Iowa probably another
  12. Even with both having football and wrestling? I guess volleyball, field hockey, and something else I'm forgetting?
  13. my great grandmother played college basketball for east stroudsburg back when guards weren't allowed to cross half-court. I guess they have a history of women's sports. thanks for sharing this list thought which paints a different picture than I realized. I still would like to see big programs adopt like Iowa has
  14. In particular - where is Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan in this regard? I'd expect those schools to step up
  15. real answer is https://iwcoa.net/hall-of-fame-2/herb-house/ if you were okay with being rude, we could say this:
  16. Wrestling off-season is SLOW! This process of elimination gives at least one extra side show of distraction to follow. It's a creative approach to making a selection. It would be tiresome if everyone did this, but its a fun change of pace.
  17. A trusted poster on Rutgers board says they are very close to hiring an assistant who was an AA from the Big Ten at an upper weight. Sounds like it could be Labs
  18. you're probably right - I just missed it
  19. Given the makeup of their current coaching staff, the Scarlett Knight fans over on their team forum seem to emphasize that the new candidate should meet a couple requirements: 1) It should be someone who has personally experienced division one wrestling excellence as a wrestler (not just as a coach) 2) It should be someone ideally who is an upper weight Given those asks, I've seen the name Kollin Moore thrown into the wish list. I would ask myself why not J'Den Cox who just left his shoes on the mat? And as a more under the radar option, maybe someone like Jordan Wood or even Greg Bulsak.
  20. oops wrong OSU and too late to edit! Bob!!!
