  1. That's awfully pessimistic from my perspective considering you are a Mizzou guy. I don't have a horse in the race and consider O'Toole to be almost 60/40 favorite over Carr which is a decent margin. Starocci hasn't lost a match since Michael Kemerer as far as I can remember - so I think it would just be cool to see him face stiffer competition
  2. The summer between my freshman and sophomore year of high school, a teammate's father who was a doctor- helped several team members get hooked up with HGH over the summer and came back huge.

  4. next year it will be Cory Land
  5. I wrestled from age 7 through 18 on a very regular basis and I did not mess around with that stuff. If it was my choice first - I always deferred. And for the third period I would always choose bottom. I never chose top or neutral in my life.
  6. Just in case it wasn't clear - I wasn't being facetious. You should be interviewed by MatScouts or Flo for these insights
  7. We need a way to start formally downloading all of the knowledge from gimp's brain. For the sake of future generations. I would hate to think about so much of this information being passed on by mouth only.
  8. @Southend - any idea as to who will man 125 for the Hoosiers going forward? Wrestlestat just switched the designated starter from Blaine Frazier to Michael Spangler. That may prove to be wise, but wasn't sure what prompted them to change it
  9. Another guy that has a funny sense of humor about his own matches is Cael Happel. When he got tossed feet to back by Echemendia, he replied to the tweet saying "wow looked liked that one hurt!"
  10. sounds like he has a lot of wisdom for a college kid. you don't hear stuff like that from young 20s in my experience. lots of testosterone flowing and everyone wants to be the man.
  11. Askren tried to explain his rationale in that 1000th episode. It didn't make sense to me because it wasn't consistent. Shame Pyle couldn't put a stop to it
  12. The point of showing all of that is to highlight that this isn't the result of a couple of good coaches or programs - or a result of a couple of good relationships with college programs. It's very widespread and varied, because this area benefits from having a strong wrestling ecosystem.

  16. To put out the best possible starting lineup for a dual among these lads, I might go like this: 125: Brett Ungar 133: Ryan Crookham 141: Julian Chlebove 149: Tyler Kasak 157: Sammy Sasso (Evan Maag as replacement if you won't allow me to choose an injured wrestler) 165: Andrew Cerniglia 174: Connor Herceg 184: Lenny Pinto 197: Sonny Sasso 285: Matthew Cruise Other than heavyweight, 174, and perhaps 157 (depending on how you view it), you have seven guys that are good enough to qualify for nationals. After that you figure you'd have Sammy Sasso and Crookham as title threats, guaranteed AA. Kasak, and Pinto as likely AA. And then Cerniglia, Chlebove, Sonny Sasso and Ungar capable of making a little noise. It's not a team per se, but I would be rooting for these guys individually
  17. it's a classic depth vs breadth trade-off. I think if you stay in one place longer, you could achieve deeper and more meaningful relationships with people. If you go around a lot, you can see lots of different types of things and meet different types of people - at a more superficial level though.
  18. Funny enough - two the four times I have been detained were not in states of my residence. This was a chart with time-weighted percent of my life lived in each of these places. In many of them I moved around within a neighborhood, and just kept it to the overall metro area. I move every 18 months or so over the course of my life so far
  19. it's nice to see a guy win with humility like this. he doesn't even care if the other guy gets the credit for something he didn't earn
  20. Just in case you guys didn't know about this, you can search the following database to see which people have donated to which politicians over time (and how much and when, etc). Tom Brands has donated nothing, while Terry has made two donations shown below: https://www.opensecrets.org/donor-lookup/
  21. Dan Gable - Iowa Gable Steveson - Indiana, Minnesota Robert Louis Stevenson - Scotland
  22. While I may not have a bias toward any particular team, I do tend to root for guys who came through the Lehigh Valley. From my experience, the strength of the youth system in the region is spread throughout mostly public schools with just a handful of private schools. It's generally accessible to everyone. And the culture and history are rich, boosted by Lehigh University and their success in NCAA wrestling. This is a pocket of land with 131 mile circumference and a population of just over 861,000. As a percentage of the US population it makes up 0.26%. As a percentage of division 1 wrestlers, the region supplies 2.04% of the overall pool. This translates into this region below having a 7.95 times greater conversion rate from resident to division one wrestler.
