  1. Andrew Blackburn-Forst by fall over Michael Wolfgram
  2. I don't know enough about whether he would want to make his own stamp or not. I'm not asserting he is grinding guys, but I'd like to see how it plays out if he is also high effective at preparing guys for the actual tournament. Grinding guys was one of first things that came to mind as a possibility, but there are other ways of not peaking at the right time. We haven't seen him ever coach at this level before, so I was just reiterating that all signs are good so far, but certainly a lot left to prove
  3. I'm not as well versed in the history of NCAA coaches, but I am thinking of an NBA coach Tom Thibodeau who grinds everything he can out of his guys throughout the season, and they tend to be injured come playoff time. Those are the types of things I'm hopeful to see are not an issue, because doing well through December is just too small of a sample size for me to weigh so heavily. Interesting point on the Hendrickson piece. I think Kerk could be surmountable based on that kind of self-belief. I would be gobsmacked if he defeated Steveson.
  4. buddy (not Rich) shared this with me this morning: "At that conference I went to, they told us that ChatGPT is like an Ivy League intern. Very very smart, but will exaggerate and is prone to stretch facts and lie occasionally"
  5. A rematch would be interesting because they both had major takeaways: 1) Fish needs to stop going to his own back and generally thinking more about risk management when he is wrestling 2) Hipolito needs more conditioning because he died about halfway through the third period
  6. I agree. I think he is off to a promising start. I'm not one of those people who will say "well let's see how his entire life plays out before we make any educated guesses" but I genuinely do want to see how his coach style translates throughout the course of a season after the original adrenaline bump is gone. And to what extent can he sustain that going forward is the second question. But all positive signs so far.
  7. the last part was a poorly executed joke
  8. out of curiosity what types of things were they looking to change? if you can't share it, I understand
  9. I wondered the same thing. I think it could be a case of once that levee breaks between two schools, and there is a major underlying cause (the loss of RTC and less promising financial situation of ASU), the original transfers become a link to refer and help convince their former teammates to join them. That's my guess, but no clue. Another outside theory is that they identified wrestlers that insist on being taller than their head coach.
  10. And then he went ahead and beat Jaxon Smith this morning as well. haha
  11. The Hamiti we saw last night was the Hamiti we saw his true freshman year and then never again. He's back.
  12. Evan Bates is off to a heck of a start for someone with a losing record last year (although he did qualify for nationals)
  13. Another major. now for Latona vs Jamison
  14. Major decision for Sprat
  15. Surber is going to beat Andy Smith in the rematch
  16. Wonder if we see Sam Fisher get a shot at 184
  17. To me it does. I also asked Rich and he agrees
  18. Schultz has looked disinterested this year and last. He's got a lot of talent and uses it more sporadically than we would apppreciate. The Jordan Wood match was incredible
  19. 125: Lilledahl (extremely high pedigree, but not yet fully tested in NCAA D1 folkstyle 133: Davis was hot to start last year but ended up not placing and that was down at 125 where he had more of an advantage All other starters should be expected to AA, and you wouldn't be crazy for including either the the lightweights
  20. Not to me he doesn't. Respect your opinion though
  21. So it seem pretty likely that Ohio State just matched or upped whatever financial offer was mentioned by OKST?
  22. That's fair. I was thinking of Brock Hardy as a possibility to make it interesting with Bartlett. Main reason I was worried is that Bartlett is a sure three if he gets to the main matches. but he has a higher chance in my mind of randomly getting burned in a close match (hasn't really happened yet, so this is only me feeling uneasy about him playing with fire)
  23. He was for sure. I think this version of McCrone is an AA though.
  24. One guy in the running is Brendan McCrone. Everyone assumed Kilkeary would take the weight this year but McCrone had other plans
