  1. funny how the barstool guy got his company back. I'm guessing from Penn's standpoint, they get more benefits from regulators due to connections through lobbyists when working with Disney than they would with Barstool. I have seen at least one person close to me with a bright future lose control of their life due to gambling addiction. As gambling has becoming a lot easier to do with a click of your button on your phone, and has become more accepted by regulators, I'm thinking we will see some kind of severe social impacts as a result. Ten years later, congress will pass a law that makes it more strict on advertising for gambling, and then taxing gambling revenuves. they'll find themselves in a similar position as alcohol and tobacco I would imagine.
  2. Thread on the Oklahoma State board saying Esposito is gone from Oklahoma State team and is headed for the OTC. Wonder who will replace him
  3. Lol when I was nine I wrestled a kid named Steve Neff from Northampton who had a tattoo of a rose on his leg. He must have been same age as me or similar. My dad would go on to say it was the only kid I ever faced who was quicker than me. He beat me in the semis and earned 1st at VEWL while I settled for third for a second time. 9 year old with tattoos are no joke. I think he ended up wrestling for ASU
  4. “If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.”
  5. Really tough to predict given I haven't seen much of Jamison at this level in folkstyle, but sounds like he was doing very well in the Minnesota room. AA sounds very possible. 4th could be tough with others like Brock Hardy lurking but certainly not unrealistic. Alvarez is difficult to predict given his change in weight class or potentially two. Some guys are able to pull that off and others aren't. Talented enough to be in the convo for AA but for me, finalist would be somewhat surprising.
  6. Mendez off the redshirt or Jordan Decatur for one last hurrah?
  7. Two guys charged with violent crimes doing a clinic for kids. Hmmm
  8. I attended USC for grad school and observed professors develop unusually cozy relationships with football players. I imagine corruption among professors would be pretty common.
  9. All still in the portal as far as we can tell
  10. I hope it's somehow not as extreme as has been reported. I would like to see him wrestle again and would hope a young man could get a second chance after something like this. Personally I am way more forgiving of gambling crimes and drug crimes than I am about domestic violence or sexually motivated crimes.
  11. I think yes - Jamison at 141 and Alvarez to 149 provided he can take Jordan Williams (I think he can)
  12. This extended state of limbo sucks for the wrestlers and fans of the Bobcats
  13. They had three portal entries after last season. One guy is still in the portal and the other two have found teams.
  14. Max Leete of American University will redshirt for his junior year as NQ from 133 Jack Maida sucks down to 125 for next year and Raymond Lopez sucks from 41 to 33. This will create a reopening in the lineup at 141 for Konkrete Kid Ethan Szcerencsits
  15. On the plus side - there is plenty of capacity for flights and accommodation as well as places to host the tournament from an arena perspective. That's pretty much it though
  16. Just my opinion but here goes 1. Very expensive hotels 2. Many dangerous neighborhoods 3. Cultural incompatibility with that of the college wrestling zeitgeist 4. Homelessness/mental illness is everpresent 5. Very little interest in wrestling among locals. Many prominent athletic high schools in the region do not even have a team. 6. Expensive flights for the majority of schools which are based east coast and Central primarily. 7. Lack of public transportation 8. City is extremely spread out and difficult to navigate 9. Although Los Angeles doesn't have full seasons, March is typically overcast and somewhat unpleasant
  17. I live here and I don't think it would be a good choice
  18. This makes a lot of sense to me
  19. I recommend Hashem for a great meal outdoors for very cheap https://maps.app.goo.gl/M6WntvnRe51ZsWsw6
  20. Someone posted the home attendance stats last year and Clarion was bottom of the barrel. It's a shame because that part of PA is rich in wrestling history and has plenty of fan interest. It's just a very low population there and you have a lot of colleges in PA with wrestling all offering state tuition. Penn State gobbling up most of the big fish. As a coach, it's a tough predicament but as a fan even tougher. If the coach succeeds under such hostile circumstances, he is paid more by a bigger program. And then what as a fan? NDSU right now as a prime example
  21. Is the school in question Wyoming Seminary?
  22. For their potential lineup next year all these guys are transfers. They did lose the All-American Will Feldkamp to Iowa State, but they also gained him through the portal in the first place from Northern Illinois. 133: Varndell from Edinboro 141: Sullivan from West Virginia 157: Alejando Herrera Rondon from Oklahoma 165: Cameron Pine from Campbell 285: John Meyers from Seton Hill Couple years ago there was Brent Moore from Virginia Tech and notably lost grad transfer Bulsak to Rutgers where he became AA for them.
