Hello list, I was at an NAIA/NCAA D3/NCWA open this weekend. They had 4 mats going total and it was a long day. I saw some teams leave early and forfeit in the finals/consi finals (including a few of the double FFTs). Do those circumstances not count as a loss? I know that the first medical forfeit in an open counts as a loss now. thanks in advance.

At the Newberry Open (Newberry College, SC; NCAA D2) both of Newberry’s coaches are competing (149, 184) as a result of a fundraising challenge. Any insight into how this will be/ is done? I’m thinking of the scenario for NLWC this year at a few weights. Curious how practice goes with Dake/Nolf or Taylor/Brooks in the same room. Who will coach each one at Final X? Thanks in advance.

This topic made me think about my best friend from high school. He was a football player, and never wrestled. All 3 of his daughters wrestle. I convinced him to enter an open/masters tournament last April that his daughters were wrestling in at our old high school. He asked me who would be wrestling in it in our age group (39 to) and I told him it would be dads and maybe some coaches, but I specifically told him "There won't be any hammers in your bracket." This was consistent with what I have seen in the past at these types of local tournaments with a masters bracket. He shows up and there are 4 people in his bracket, and the other 3 of them are ACTIVE COLLEGE WRESTLERS. 1 D1, 1 D2, and 1 NAIA. He went 0-3 for the day, but felt he got perspective for coaching from it.

Rumor is that ISU's heavyweight may be out for the rest of this event. My apologies if this has already been said.
