  1. Sorry, very clever, but it needs to be a bit more obvious for folks like me
  2. West Virginia?
  3. Hard not to pick Vito if he comes in free of injuries, after his performance at last years NCAAS and Worlds. He was clutch when it mattered
  4. Except if they are top ranked recruits interested in a "academic" school they are recruiting against Cornell/Princeton/Stanford plus Northwestern - all schools with equal or better academics and much better wrestling results. Then they also have to compete with Harvard/Duke/Columbia/UPenn for good recruits the top schools pass on
  5. Was that just an EIWA rule? Is it still in effect?
  6. You sent me down a rabbit hole looking at old EIWA results. Hopefully their new assistants will lead them to better results than 1985 when they managed to score -3 points! How does a team accomplish that? I remember seeing a few teams getting -1 points at NCAA, but -3 has to be a record
  7. Noted hippy Steve Mocco had an older brother, Joe, who wrestled for Brown and won EIWAs (I think)
  8. They had good teams in the early 90s. With a few top 3 EIWA finishes.
  9. That's how they knew she was lying
  10. Fix excuse was that his dad was doping and he drank some of his dad's PED juice by mistake. Didn't he get just a year? The strawberry desert and heart medication seems much more believable... Still not believable but better Fix's story
  11. Having up to 6 FR (RS or true frosh), seems like a big stretch to challenge PSU or even contend for #2.
  12. Those are mind boggling numbers to me. Lost of professorships could be endowed for that amount or lots and lots and scholarships
  13. Wrong thread!
  14. Whatever the rankings say right now don't matter. Ramos will be the guy to beat come NCAAs
  15. My neighbors have two kids named Cale and Cody (both now college aged) they are not a wrestling family. Names are like fashion styles. The names go in and out of fashion and there is not always a good explanation. We named our son the same as an NFL QB who was popular at the time. We did not name him after the QB but we were fans and it put the name on our list and we choose it because we liked the name
  16. Already torn about this. Part of me still regrets not getting to Atlanta in 1996. Last kid should be through will college by 2028, so it should be well within my means, but it just kills me to spend outrageous amounts on sports tickets. I have cancelled NCAAs plans after the prices kept climbing.
  17. Really hard to adjust mindset to understand the international passivity criteria after so many years of watching/wrestling Folkstyle. And when I did wrestle Free, it was always with local refs who were basically using the folkstyle criteria for stalling. I guess I will have to just accept that international refs are probably calling passivity correctly and stop bitching how the US wrestler took all the shots.
  18. LOL. I went down the same rabbit hole and spent too much time looking at Wikipedia. I did notice that the lack of results theUS had for about 20 years and the recent outstanding results,. Bodes well for the future
  19. I think he his held in lower regard because he was not able to to make the US national team and had no international accomplishments. Not passing judgment whether this is fair or not, but I dont think he was ever very high on the US ladder. He pursued a football career because he had no path to continue as a wrestler. Kole Conrad is similar in this regard
  20. I am still amused that wrestling has a high crotch, deep crotch and crotch lift
  21. World According to Garp has enough wrestling in it to qualify for your list
  22. If memory serves, Cael was 4X OW at NCAA as well and 3X Hodge winner v. 1X of each for Dake
  23. I have posted about this before, but I still don't get why wrestlers are so impressed by the four weight classes in four years. He got bigger and moved up. Maybe to the general public it sounds like he is taking on all comers, but he never really wrestled up a weight class. He also had a reputation as a big time weight cutter, so he was never wrestling guys that where bigger than him, maybe some years he cut less, but he was never undersized. When I was growing up and boxing was big, some of the top guys would go up a weight class or two and fight the title holder so they could have multiple belts at the same time. Sugar Ray Leonard famously weighed in fully clothed with rolls of coins in his pockets for his fight with Marvin Hagler. This is not what Dake did. This does not take way from his amazing career. MY personal rankings of his feats (collegiate editiion): 1. 4X titles 2. Beating an all timer in Taylor 2X 3. Winning as a true freshman ... 99. Got bigger and moved up in weight class (Hell I got him beat by a mile for putting on weight as I got older)
