  1. Nashon Garrett would like a word with you
  2. Are you saying NCAA DI kids are soft? If you had a choice between really a nice facility and a not so nice one, does it make you soft to want to go the school with better facilities?
  3. Except Steveson did win NCAAs in 2022 after he won his Olympic gold.
  4. At this point it is just alleged. I would not be surprised if it was real, but I would not take Chamizo's word as gospel either. I assume there will an investigation
  5. That is basically what I am saying and using the WNBA v. NCAA WBB as evidence. They are almost exactly the same product and I dont think anyone disputes that the WNBA is a t a higher level, they is it less popular? Not sure how the Boxing v. MMA is relevant to this discussion. Horse racing also used to be one of the most popoulat sports in the US.
  6. Team scores are usually secondary to individual performance in T&F, similar to wrestling, but the scoring is straightforward. 10 points for first, 8 points for second and usually to 1 point for 6th place (I think some big meets score down to 8th). A lot easier to figure out than advancement points & and how many bonus points can be scored in the consolations.
  7. Definitely easier to follow T&F than wrestling as nobody has to explain the rules to who wins a race.
  8. NCAA WBB has much higher ratings than the WNBA, for the same reason that NCAA wrestling is popular. It is familiarity and long time loyalty to your alma mater/ local university.
  9. Did he graduate from Lassen? In that case I would not consider it a transfer
  10. I think the OP was looking for transfers who won after they transferred
  11. Where did Cuvo transfer fom?
  12. Seems weird that any DI school would take a coach with limited success at a lower level DI school There are so few DI jobs ands so many young Asst. Coaches out there.
  13. Sam Henson I believe transferred from Missouri to Clemson Aaron Holker transferred from BYU when it dropped their program to ISU
  14. I love this competitiveness and never letting go of a loss, probably not for mental health but I think it gives us mere mortals insight into the mind of a world class competitor. If I let losses eat at me like that I could never compete as I had a whole lot of losses to contend with, some very painful. I( reminds me of an article I read years ago about Bob Gibson, the great St Louis Cardinal pitcher, who a reporter asked if he was over a world series games he pitched and lost many years after he retired. Gibson got so mad at the reporter for asking what he considered ridiculous question, as the the loss still hurt him every bit as bad as the day happened
  15. Personally, if your team is not top 3 why would you care as a fan if you are 10th or 20th? I would judge the success of my team by how the individuals do, A few high AAs or even blood round guys would be a better way to judge than where you are in the top 20. I know it is easier to just look at NCAA team placement
  16. So Rutgers fans who are not happy with the 20th place will be happy with say 16th place thatt Rutgers might get if tournament rules are tweaked?
  17. Snyder v. Gwiz was an all time great
  18. Whatever your religious beliefs are that is a weird T-shirt.
  19. Maybe so long to big time college sports as we know it. The vast amount of colleges and athletes really are student-athletes and there is not any money to squabble over.
  20. It certainly is and I was being a bit sarcastic putting forth that someone would choose a college based on the academics. A top wrestler, from the other side of the country, choosing a historically great wrestling school probably had a lot to do with the wrestling prospects
  21. Maybe the academics?
  22. Yes. My answer is Carlton Haselrig with 3 DII and 3 DI titles and Ken Mallory with 3 DII and one DI title. Both went to schools without wrestling teams and completed in their state tournament only once (PA & MA) as Seniors and won
  23. Would be great for Lehigh and women's wrestling you have them elevate to an NCAA team. Iowa is the only traditional wrestling school with a NCCA W team. Be good to have an alternative in the East
  24. Did a quick google search trying to find this and didn't the answer, but lots of amazing stories about blind wrestlers and what they accomplished. One of my HS coaches used to have us spar with our eyes closed, so to a certain extent I get how a blind wrestler can compete. Being able to attend a "regular" college and graduate is every bit as impressive to me.
  25. Until maybe the last 5 or so years, I don't remember WI producing nationally ranked wrestlers that were winning word medals in HS and going to immediate NCAA success. It hurts for fans to see the top ranked wrestler from their state go somewhere else, but if they are a top national recruit and have immediate collegiate success that has to be at another level of frustration.
