  1. WTF bring up that the victim was an illegall alien?
  2. Fair enough. I guess I remember the final result more then the "bumps" along the way. Still ADS never had any issues with law or "alleged" sexual assaults
  3. He also was before the 4 point NF rule (I think, the years are starting to run together)
  4. But Long Island and New Jersey are. Ivy League sports don't draw crowds with a few exceptions.
  5. Huge difference, in my view, between DeSanto and what we have seen of AJ, even without going into the off the mat legal troubles of Ferrari.
  6. Also about the, same height as Gable
  7. I think thigh the main point is that you don't get to be a top HS wrestler without a year round commitment, lots of high level coaching and specialized training and a family that can afford and support that. Agreed that it seems to be happening in most sports and I don't think it is a good thing
  8. Pretty sure she was a US Olympic alternate even though she was born in France. I assume that she became a US citizen through marriage. A lot easier to make the US team than the French team in Judo
  9. Don't the majority of Americans call themselves "Christian"? A legitimate question that this thread could ponder is if the outlook of wrestling fans is better or worse of the American public in general. IMO, it is probably about the same
  10. Honestly, I think that primarily goal is academics is mostly lip service. Outside of FB and BB, the Ivies tend do compete well with best in the nation (similar to wrestling). Most of the high level athletes would not stand a chance at Ivy league admission without their athletic accomplishments. They may be better much better than average students compared the collegiate population as whole, but for most athletics is more important than academics They do have a few official rules like no redshirting and no grad students competing and a few specific FB rules - freshman cant play varsity (not sure if this rule is still in effect) and the FB team cant go to the FCS playoffs.
  11. True in most sports
  12. Something about having kids compete bring out the worst in people (along with being anonymous in the comments section). The only time I see parents acting like complete jerks are at competitions. I am, of course, the exception to this rule
  13. Yeah, maybe wishful thinking on my part for both the wrestling community and the world at large
  14. Best strategy is to never read the comments. There are always going to be idiots in the world whether they are truly racists or just ding-dongs who enjoy being trolls. They are the type of people who are way more likely to post something in the replies, so while the count of 4 ignorant posts out of 28 is truly a sad ratio, I would like to think the % of idiots is way less the 1% in both wrestling fans and the entire population.
  15. Dont follow college hockey much anymore. ECAC hockey was the dominant league in the east when I was a kid (maybe the only league as well?). This was before Hockey East and it was on TV every week.
  16. The whole Peanuts storyline that Charlie Brown is a loser that nobody likes and is constantly picked on sucks. I realized it was sh*tty as a kid in the 70s, not that I didn't always want to watch the Peanuts specials every time they were on. I present the first Peanuts trip ever:
  17. My memory is that D1 coaches claimed that it was because D2/D3 wrestlers did not have the academic requirements to remain eligible as D1 athletes. I believe this was about the time when the NCAA started implementing minimum academics achievement in HS for athletes to qualify for D1 scholarships. Are those rules still in place? It seemed like that used to be news story every year about a top athlete struggling or not meeting standards. I think there was widespread feeling that D1 coaches did not like the prospect of losing to a lower division wrestler.
  18. I assume they would not do this in ice hockey as the ECAC league is one of the best leagues. Pulling out would hurt both the conference and Ivy hockey. There are only 6 Ivy hockey teams and like wrestling it does not make sense to me to separate from their existing leagues
  19. Seems like a bad thing for the EIWA, the Ivies and wrestling. How NQs are going to come out of a conference with 6 teams with only one being a nationally prominent school. Doesn't hurt the borderline NQ who now likely has to win the Ivy tournament to qualify? And likely need to beat a highly ranked Cornell guy to do so.
  20. Didn't everyone have a kid's table at Thanksgiving?
  21. Inspiration for a whole generation of coaches
  22. Yeah. While we're are at let's all admit that every Charlie Brown special also is trash. The fact that I loved them all as a kid just shows how crappy TV was back in the day. **The jazzy theme song holds up though
  23. I was just at a Holiday party and we ended talking about what a terrible movie Rudolph is. The complete shunning of Rudolf (not just by the a-hole Reindeer, but also Santa and Dasher) plus he is only redeemed because of some silly concept that his nose is bright enough to see through the worst winter storm in history.
  24. RPI did win a D1 hockey title in the mid 80s. Lake Superior State also had some championship hockey teams
