Howard actually looked good in his first match but struggled in the next two. I'm not sure if it was because he's not good enough or because he hasn't competed in over a year and his conditioning isn't there to wrestle multiple matches in one day. It just doesn't make sense. He was a blue-chip recruit who was a beast in HS so he shouldn't have lost to those guys unless there is something going on.

He already used his regular RS and can't take an ORS since he wrestled today.

I think Iowa might need to offer bullet-proof housing and vests along with their bags of cash. Guys know Ferrari's sister will be around the team and don't want to risk getting shot for talking to her.

The thing is that nobody was going to compete with PSU either way. Kids want to be champs and if they can get in they're not saying no. Even without transfers they'd have had six returning AAs that all fished in the top-3, who was going to compete with that?

This forum is slipping, I was looking forward to hearing why this will actually be bad for PSU. My guess is that Facundo stakes an ORS and Mesenbrink steps in at 165.

Embarrassment of riches is a huge understatement at this point. In the preseason I said they should redshirt Haines because they wouldn't need his points and I was right, they would have still won going away even w/o his 2nd place finish. i have a feeling this will be the case w/ LL as well. They're going to be fine with Robby Howard until 2026 so by the time LL steps in he'll have had an entire year in the room turning into a beast. In three years the premier tournament is going to be the Black Knight Invite because it will be the only chance people get to see PSU's hammers wrestle each other

Nagao has three years left and LL doesn't graduate until next year. As I see it LL redshirts Nagao's Jr year and then Nagao bumps to 141 for his Sr year to make room. I also think it LL won't matter with Lagao because LL looks like a career 125 guy, it's the other guys like Howard, Davis and Gibson who will be battling for a spot. My prediction is: 2023 Davis-Redshirt 125-Howard 133- Nagao 2024 125-Howard/Davis 133 Nagao/Howard 2025 Gibson and LL redshirt 125-Davis 133-Howard 141-Nagao When you factor in the inevitable injuries I think they'll be able to make everybody happy. A lot hinges on Howard and if he can ever get healthy.

I think the sportsmanship is only applied to wrestling. If anything I'd ding Carter for his post-match words with Washington but as as far as smack-talking in MMA that's actually part of that sport.

The only other real candidate is Parris but let's look at the criteria: 1. Record- both are undefeated 2. Number of Pins- Parris gets this but the best guy he pinned was Tinker from Cal Poly. He's also the only guy who qualified for Nationals that he pinned and he went 0-2. Starocci pinned three guys who qualified for Nationals and they all won matches there including pinning the 2nd place finisher 3. Dominance- Carter's bonus percentage was 67% and Parris' was 64% 4. Past Credentials- Hmmm, Carter has gone 1-1-1 while Parris went DNP-2-5-1. Carter's career record is 80-2, Parris' is 126-18. Carter also ended the season with the longest winning streak in the country. 5. Quality of competition- This is a push for this season but Starocci has beaten an NCAA champ in his career while Parris has never done it 6. Sportsmanship- Push 7. Heart- Slight edge to Carter because he avenged both of the losses he suffered in his career.

Maybe they wrestle for Iowa but have to sit out meets in Oklahoma? Is there an extradition treaty between Iowa and Oklahoma?
