Chattanooga... Chattanooga...Chattanooga... Chattanooga had a very young roster last year and return basically everyone except Brayden Palmer and broke the ten win barrier for the first time in nearly ten years. Here is what their starters looked like this year... 125 - SR, 17W - 4L 133 - SO, 18W - 6L 141 - FR, 25W - 4L 149 - JR, 13W - 4L 157 - JR, 11W - 4L 165 - FR, 17W - 11L 174 - FR, 17W - 8L 184 - SO, 5W - 8L 197 - FR, 7W - 8L 285 - JR, 6W - 12L One thing to note is that I did leave the names off... that was deliberate. I wanted you to see the numbers as only numbers. Many of these gents were only a match away from qualifying and won two or three matches at their conference championships, as it were. Now 184 is deceiving in that the kid who ended the season started it at 157lbs, so some lineup shuffling and the weights will fall right in to place. Especially if they can get a transfer along the lines of a Rocky Jordan in. One of their redshirt frosh at 125 is a pinner, and that looks promising, especially in a dual sense, but they have two guys coming off redshirt that will be vying for the spot there as well as a two year starter returning to the lineup after being displaced by Palmer dropping. This lineup, with a replacement at 125 and perhaps a small shuffle in the 165-184 range, has potential to grow together and increase their peak wins, which is typical year after year. Those 17W should become low to mid 20s and those Ls should be about the same (assuming they qualify for NCAAs and take 2-3 losses there as well). I think this team could challenge both App State and Chattanooga, especially in a dual format (5 of their first 7 matches against Campbell were one takedown, close decision losses). I hope the coaching staff is out their shooting their shot with the likes of Billy Janzer (Rutgers 184/197), Kraisser (Iowa State ~157), Alvarez (OSU, Rutgers 141-165 ), and the two Navy 125lbers. They land two or even one of them, and that could provide the leadership needed to help with that next step next year.

Got someone else to follow - appreciate it. For those looking, OLD SCHOOL WRESTLING CLIPS:

I am not disputing any of that, really. Prevailing wisdom should dictate, though, that his #1 Assistant would not be a home run HC hire, right? Even if he had no say in anything, the indifference to the shit show in Wiscy is also not okay, right? I am trying to make sense of it because I actually want Reader to be a rockstar of a HC at CMU (if he gets the job) for the next 20-30 years.
-
Nope. I was sincere. I could have been mean. Words hurt, though, and I didn't want to be the one causing harm this fine evening. My response was deliberate. There was no pretending.

We do agree here, if by 'no' you agree that it is ~5%. Brooks still has to get through a rested Valencia too, gents. Valencia will have one match to Brooks' three by the time they meet. Then the winner gets a rested DT.

Well you're about as bright as a wet noodle there, bud. (I joke, so don't get all hurt and shit) All of your points are layered in ignorance, with all due respects. First off, you ignored the first majority of the post. I don't even think DT loses. Second off, yes he would be upset with a loss. Anyone in that scenario would be. In the end, he would also be proud of his good friend, and student. Third off, he (DT) has cited that he does and has trained with everyone in the room, sans Kerk because Kerk is a monster. Lastly, if he loses? I think the shoes are left on the mat. Please keep in mind I prefaced much if this with a 'with all due respect' and I meant no disrespect. You genuinely seem to want one of our GOATs to look like a douche his last time on a mat, though. To believe these gents (DT, KD, Starocci) can't grow, which they have shown signs of such wisdom, is wrong.

What about it is nonsense?

Now I am one of the bigger detractors that has no actual horse in the race... but why does Bono get the full brunt of his Wiscy failure? I find myself pretty excited about the idea of Reader to CMU... but Reader has been there with Bono the whole time, yeah? Maths isn't mathing.

I would be 100% on board with this.
-
Oh, wow. I didn't even notice him. He could slot in as a 184lber as well, I think.
-
It is a digital age. Some might be able to finish everything digitally. It also likely depends on the situation. I believe Saldate leaving has nothing to do with ill-will. He likely will be allowed to train with the team, and he should be allowed. He put four solid years in.

Two are Frosh at other colleges and extremely happy. Two are injured and done. One has been wrestling 132 and 138. The moat realistic one is the true frosh dropping ~10lbs.
-
It might just be.

Appears Saldate has landed already as well...
-
A couple of interesting entries in to the portal that could thrive in the right environment. Iowa's Bretli Reyna at 149lbs (People's Champion) Utah Valley's Evan Bockmon at 197lbs (19W - 9L on the season, NQ)

Is this a wish list?

Obviously some coaching changes could shake up a few rosters and make them seem almost, if not actually entirely different than last year. Given what we see right now and what we could see, I think there are a few teams that come to mind that could make another leap next season... and I don't think either of them are Stanford (with Koll's massive recruiting class) or North Carolina (I think he is at least a season away - if not two - from a trajectory leap there). Cal Poly, Chattanooga, and Illinois. Cal Poly They came in to the season with high expectations and because their upward trajectory didn't seem to pan out and LRA came 'out of nowhere' it can be ignored that they had a comparable season to last year. That is still a massive improvement for 3/4/5 years ago. If they were to play with their lineup a bit and get a solid incoming transfer (or two - ahem Saldate), they could make another step forward. They will need to with OSUW, ASU, and LRA all improving as well. I want to see them land Saldate (I will explain what I, as a fan, want to see below). They either need an incoming 141 125 - Mendez, SO 15W - 12L 133 - Romney, SO 19W - 9L 141 - Heracules Windrath, TrFR - He will need to live to his name... 149 - LEGEND Lamer, SR 15W - 12L 157 - CHANCE Lamer, JR 19W - 7L 165 - Wick, SO 14W - 12L - Coming off Injury 174 - Saldate, SR 25W - 8L - Incoming Grad Transfer 184 - DASCHLE Lamer, FR 8W - 4L 197 - Priest, SR 9W - 9L OR Hodges, FR 4W - 3L 285 - Tinker, JR 11W - 7L Their only true hole will be at 141lbs and I understand their valley could be right where they are now, depending on injuries, but their peak could be an outright P12 title. Saldate a double bump? Why? Because I don't think Wick has the strength, even if he has the length, to go 174lbs. I would be okay with the swap, though. Saldate could have a helluva chance for content on social medias with 'bulking' or whatnot. I think the 'smaller' Lamer brothers swap and both will see an increase in productivity. Big Lamer will wrestle outside his weight class for a season, though. He'll be fine as I think he should focus on 184lbs long-term anyways. Priest? He is a 165lber at heart, but he always gives it his full-go. Anyone else care to give it ago? With a breakdown with hows and whys? Illinois and Chattanooga to follow...
-
So the Michigan State gents... Chase Saldate: Saldate going out west almost seems inevitable, right? Who needs a 157/165lber for a season that offers a great situation (not money, necessarily, but degree that might help in his current path down the lines of Media and Information. If it is purely for wrestling I think OSUW and ASU make the most sense (if he is going 165 or Teemer is going 165). He might have a tough time making the lineup at ASU, though, tbh. Cal Baptist has a need at 157 (not really 165, unless their 0.500 Frosh goes to 157 or 174). I don't see him there. Utah Valley has a need at every weight he could possibly go from 149-174. Cal Poly has their lineup set from 149-174, but if young Lamer were to go 184 things could get interesting for him. MACtion? Aside for Ohio, he could go to any MAC school and he would start, either at 157 or 165. Caleb Fish: This one is a bit perplexing as he was always Green and White growing up. It is the one that makes me think that it is more to do with school/funding than actually wanting to leave. Unless some B12 or lower B1G school is desparate (no disrespect intended), I think we see him at a MAC or SOCON school as their 165lber next year. I think he'll pull a season similar to Lock Haven's Henson and rock off 35ish wins en route to a low AA finish. Disclaimer: I know actually nothing. This isn't even conjecture at this point, just discussion.

Honestly, I don't think he does it. While he looks a good amount thicker, he isn't bigger. DT has a frame on him that is perfectly suited for 86 KG, hence one of the reasons he has absolutely dominated the entire planet for nearly half a decade. Again, I don't think he does it. On the off-chance that he does, I think DT leaves his shoes on the mat and embraces his student and good friend Brooks at the center of the mat, raising his (Brooks) hands in triumph. They both win, if Brooks wins, and I think DT well understands that.

I mean... it's all still there, bud. Read again. If it hurts, drink a bottle of Jack and move on.

Or you just don't read good.

Northern Michigan, our MGR Mecca.
-
Already did, bud.
-
You understand how many transfers OSU had last year too, right?
-
I mean... Oly last year, Truax and Nagao last year... all came straight out and it was rumored they were headed to where they ended up. Same with the Northwestern gents... it was rather known they were probably a package deal and Davison was set on Michigan from the get-go.
