Overall impressions of both squads Ohio State was on Senior Night and except for Mendez their squad looked as if they had this date circled. Penn State looked good in some spots, but a few guys looked tired for lack of a better word. Maybe that pinfall at 125 changed some of the mindset with both squads. 125 - In period 1 I thought Lilledahl was gonna tech McCrone, but he failed to finish that 3rd takedown and then McCrone cradled him. Oh boy. 133 - Davis looked a half step slow, plus he really needs to clean up his mat wrestling. I thought at one point he was on his way to getting decked by Bazooka but then the camera guys looked the wrong way, then the challenge brick, then he comes back and wins ugly. 141 - Bartlett wins by one TD. Musta been boring, right? Maybe not. I kept expecting Mendez to eventually get to a leg but it never happened. In fact, Bartlett had not just one good shot in the match but 2 good shots. Converted only once, but enough to win. 149 - Van Ness also looked a half step slow. He'd have fired off 6 or 8 shots normally, so what's up with that? Got the tight win over D'Emilio but not his typical pace. 157 - Cannon overwhelmed Sealy. Cannon looked good and I think he might beat Sasso tomorrow. Sealy looked like he had no energy and no confidence. He even started to take a shot and it was there and he wouldn't fully commit. No confidence there. 165 - Mesenbrink. Superman. Next Topic. 174 - Kharchla had a lead and a second good shot as well, but Haines got out of that shot and converted his own for the win. Both guys walk away with something. 184 - Stallrocci wins a boring 20-5 match. Home run hitter Ryder Rogotze had nothing for him, allowing Stallrocci's boring style to wear him down. 197 - Did Barr score almost every one of his points in the third period again? Don't show up with 5 minutes in your tank against Josh Barr or you'll be getting taken down repeatedly in the last. Hwt. - Feldman looked his normal tough self. Probably the best Hwt with returning eligibility. Mirasola lost by 7 but I thought he at least looked like he belonged on the mat with a guy like Feldman. He'll be OK by 1 year from now.

Will Ethen Miller sit tonight against Blaze?
Pinnacle replied to 1032004's topic in College Wrestling
Booooo. -
I knew he was in an accident but never knew it was as bad as it was. Made him question things, but happy he has such a strong family to help him in his time of need.

Will Ethen Miller sit tonight against Blaze?
Pinnacle replied to 1032004's topic in College Wrestling
I voted NO because I think he likes to compete. He competed in February duals against some tough wrestlers in the past like SVN and Austin Gomez so no reason to believe he won't compete against Blaze. -
Did Iowa have a loss the year they set the prior scoring record?
-
Any school that gets anywhere near title contention will have had to double book, so part of their equation will be which among their recruits will transfer. Iowa and Oklahoma will probably make it closer in the next few years, but the portal rumors/actuals will start to effect them as well when that happens.
-
It kept the score close, I would agree with that. He never threatened offensively.
-
Facundo at least got one year and could get more. Also, he is at least improving in freestyle at NLWC. Manville makes sense in this category, but he never transferred out as well. Not sure his high school recruit ranking, and it seemed pretty obvious early on that he was probably not destined to become an NCAA champion.
-
Are you trying to claim that taking a knee and backing up straight for the boundary won't beat Carter Starocci? What's-a-matter you?
-
Without counting injured wrestlers like Robbie Howard, has there even been a top ten recruit that never started at Penn State for multiple years? Maybe Seth Nevills? Not sure who else. There are a lot of ways these guys can be slotted in and Cael seems to know how to do it.
-
Sticking with PSU worked for Cassar. I think it worked for some other guys like even Terrel Barraclaw as he has improved tremendously. Looks like a probable All American in his final year and I'm not sure that ever happens without his time at PSU.

3 or 4 year Penn State starters to NOT win a title?
Pinnacle replied to BruceyB's topic in College Wrestling
I would like a fan of a team not listed here to rank the top ten listed wrestlers by how much internet ink they received for their title pursuits. I'd place Fix #1 followed close behind by maybe Marinelli and Kemerer. -
I doubt that. Davis re tweeked his knee against Shawver but was able to finish the match. Not that I know anything, I don't, but I guess he's fine by the Conf. Tournament.
-
Just to be clear, I did not nor am I now accusing Drake of ducking. Just Brands expression as applied to Gabe seems funny to me. Also, I think a lot of PSU folks see that Davis missed a couple of matches and that Kasak's head has a nasty gash in it. Should PSU fans be worried? Personally, I think both will be fine. Starocci seemed far worse off late last year than these guys. Nolf in a prior year as well.
-
Drake was not ducking, it was "load management".
-
In a prior interview Cael said it was his knee.

Bo, Blaze, Jax - who has the best college career?

I mentioned the weight disparity above. Like I said, dummy me. Lol -
Beau Bartlett and Carter Starocci win by 17-3 major and 20-3 TF to upset intermat poster boredom.

Is that Joey's win? I read the headline, but thank you I stand corrected. Probably should have also considered Scott outweighs Marcus. Dummy me. Lol. -

Still, high school junior beats two NCAA all americans. Those all americans being dead or not dead does not translate to Blaze not being able to get folkstyle takedowns which prompted these responses. -

Blaze beat Ed Scott in that same Clarion Open where he beat Matt Ramos. He also recently put a td clinic on the #2 guy at his weight in Ohio. -
Ok. It isnt Penn State. Its whatever school you want it to be.
-
No. I would say the environment and philosophy around the Penn State program are bringing out the best in more wrestlers than anywhere else. Mesenbrink is an example of that.
