  1. The better way to judge strength of schedule is to measure your opponents vs all opponents. Is Matt Ramos great because he pinned Lee? If he is great, then where are his titles?
  2. I thought O'Toole would win it last year, then he lost to Carr. Then over the summer he got beat by Haines in a way that I can't un see. This reminds me that nothing is written in stone. You can climb the mountain or fall off of it every time out.
  3. He seemed to be moving pretty well even after the injury vs Drexel, so maybe this is precautionary.
  4. 10 ounces of wild venison will get you 1000 calories with 50% less fat and 20% more protein than beef. But if you only like veggies then none for you.
  5. This could be the new NIL scam. Guy doesn't actually want to make the big sacrifices any longer, but since they throw so much money at him he decides, "WTF, might as well take it". Then he limps off the mat to count the bag money only to never really step back on. Not saying that i s what happened here in this case or any other case, but portal slum lords caveat emptor.
  6. When did Intermat hold the auditions for the new Cinnabon?
  7. While it is true what you say, once you can differentiate the expected paths of the incomers you can then rank however you want. The difference between a freshman heading towards the top and one headed to redshirt to shore up defeciencies can become obvious after a few weeks.
  8. I meant Facundo needed to be better on his feet. Post edited.
  9. Truzzcat, the one thing I am noticing is that vs. the last two years I think Barr is growing in confidence. Mentally I think he is ready to start to win a round of 16 or quarterfinals match at NCAA. I think even against Cochran I have to respect how he closed that match out.
  10. That's the weird freshman ranking where all the rankers know the incoming true freshman is a podium guy but they still start him out at #33 to protect the sanctity of their ranking criteria.
  11. Kasak was always a top hammer in PIAA, so Facundo would need to be better on his feet but he could not produce a good shot let alone takedown. At least Facundo didn't get ridden for 3 minutes, so moral victory there.
  12. 20-20 hindsight, maybe Askren wouldn't have been as polished in presenting the product, but UW would be a much stronger program had they hired him the last go round.
  13. Turns out Kasak. He beat Facundo 5-2 at the Black Knight Invitational. The other weight of interest to PSU wrestle offs in that tournament was 197 where Josh Barr beat Connor Mirasola 11-0 and then beat Lucas Cochran 10-1.
  14. Caliendo match was a 2 point match with something like 20 seconds to go. That surprised me.
  15. Iowa fans should mainly be happy, ecept for the injury of course. I thought keuter might do more.
  16. I like Va Tech to generate some excitement and come out with a dominating W in this match.
  17. Looks like Davis is not wrestling this wknd and perhaps neither is Shawver.
  18. I forgot about Shawver, but that is probably a toss up if Davis is healthy.
  19. If Davis is healthy on Saturday i.e. he just got temporarily dinged vs Drexel, then PSU might win all 10 weights at the Black Knight Invitational. If Davis is not 100 percent than maybe Ethan Berginc would be favored. At 197 there is RU wrestler John Poznanski who might be favored vs Josh Barr or Ethan Cochran.
  20. I should add one additional element. I was thinking about championship caliber wrestlers. Bubba made sense in that regard, although I was flexible with weight class.
  21. Because I don't see evidence he transferred mainly due to not being able to beat McKee.
  22. I would not count Ramos in my criteria.
  23. If you include challenge bricks this brings in Fix vs Vito.
