  1. it's a really weird post and someone should tell him to stop. Regarding Gabe though, in a preseason presser last year Tom Brands made an offhand comment about Gabe and his off season activities. I think Bob was referring to Gabe not living "The Wrestler Life" as opposed to disparaging his mental health struggles. It was still a bad post though. With the way things are going, I do wonder if we will have General Manager type roles in college athletics soon
  2. that really stinks. looking forward to when he transfers to Iowa as a Junior/Senior
  3. I was talking about the programming language
  4. Homegirl you are doing some seriously crazy and selfless work out here. Thank you so much. Ive never had a better reason to put my python to practice before
  5. Well, with Ono, Blaze, and an ostensibly healthy Nagao, does young Braeden even get on the starting lineup if he is allowed to remain on the roster?
  6. Sweet baby Jesus you are a crazy one. I am not bitter that Seth Gross left. Quite the opposite - I thought it was a good idea that he left, was happy to see his career take off, and I have been a huge fan since, going so far as to promote his YouTube channel on here multiple times. All I said, in response to a question by another poster, was that I heard and read from multiple sources, including Tom Brands, that there was a road back for Seth but for whatever reason it didn't take. Nowhere was there negativity or malicious intent, that was all your projection. Get help. Or at least learn to read the words that are written instead of infusing them with nonsense that isn't there.
  7. Chill out muchacho. I was trying to find the interview of Logan Ryan (the other guy that was dismissed and then rejoined the team) and Brands that talked about the process needed for getting back on the team. The closest I found was an article from the Waterloo Cedar Falls courier about Logan and what he had to do to get back on the team but I know I listened to an interview where Tom Brands addressed this and himself stated that Logan Ryan was "willing to do the work". I thought I would find the interview on flo or atleast the Des Moines register but so far the search has proven cumbersome on mobile.
  8. It's my understanding that the staff proposed a path for Seth to stay on but he wasn't willing to follow the stipulations. One of the other wrestlers that was involved with the Seth Gross shenanigans was willing to walk the path back and eventually made it onto the starting lineup. Still, big what if
  9. Maybe work on your reading comprehension a bit and take another look at what cynical buns wrote. This is disappointing. It looked like Jordan got a good thing going in Little Rock, or at least, if he was having issues, they weren't making waves like this one. The Brands have a "I can fix him" complex but I sincerely hope Jordan gets the help he needs even (especially) if that means setting aside wrestling
  10. I don't see a reason why he stops competing now. Yes, failing to make a team this year was a roadblock but it was clear that him moving up to 86 instead of 79 was an indication that he is working for that Olympic gold
  11. Mesenbrink tried his usual cheap antics but it wasn't enough. No takedowns across 2 matches! "It's nice to see the good guy win"
  12. Heard some heckling when Snyder stepped out. Not as much as I expected, honestly
  13. Andonian throws himself to his back nearly immediately
  14. Wow. Granted, lots of those points wouldnt happen in folk style but I was super impressed with how easily Marcus got to the legs. He obviously leveled up his offense and left no doubt for me that he is a title threat no matter the weight he chooses
  15. Are these camera angles for real?
  16. it's not all hypocritical talk. It does seem like Nebbie has good team culture. I saw multiple interviews by the nebby wrestlers at NCAAs hyping up/shouting out each other and being overall really supportive. I believe Van Dee, Smith, and Ridge all had notable such interviews. But, yeah, "built, not bought" looks really dumb now
  17. What was the second instance? Other than NCAAs, I can only recall him defaulting out of Midlands (no loses) and the US Open the year he lost to Matt Ramos but he didn't lose officially there either
  18. Spot on. To their credit, they did admit to a recency bias
  19. Not sure I have seen anybody claiming that. Just a bunch of Iowa fans trying to clown on PSU and a very vocal and toxic PSU contingent that has gone product orange on Beau. As to your second point, we don't know if there was an incident recently that finally set fire to the situation - perhaps CStarr, frustrated by his loss to Dake and Beau's wife's Twitter posts went nuclear? Maybe it wasn't so severe. Maybe it was simply the retaliation towards his wife, both external (fans) and internal, for her comments that drove him to the edge. Maybe this coming out has been in the works for awhile and Beau was waiting to secure his move to another NYRTC. Having failed to secure a bid to final X, maybe Beau felt comfortable in moving on and making the comments he made.
  20. Sorry about calling you obtuse. I just really wanted to make a Shawshank reference. I do think it's unfair to say he was fine with all this. As he wrote himself, he tried to move things along through the proper channels. That failed. Ultimately, It does seem like he made a calculated decision to tough it and finish his career but apparently either there was a final straw internally or his wife getting verbally attacked was the breaking point. Perhaps both. I have been in a situation where I was uncomfortable taking action or speaking out as much as I should have in a bad situation and have many friends who have been through the same. It's hard, particularly when you are in such a rigidly hierarchical organization like a D1 sports team, to take that definitive stand. Moreso since the people trying to stand up for themselves often get slammed. For all those reasons, including what our good friend, the comical archer, said, I don't find the timing of this suspicious at all. In fact, I think it makes a lot of sense
  21. I think only one obtuse poster is really pushing the narrative that the timing seems weird. Plus, it seems like fans attacking his wife online was an influence as well
  22. Ugh. I can only imagine the pain behind that post. Really sorry that the Askren family has to go through this right now.
  23. I know I'm not eggsactly president of the Carter Starocci fan club but, if I'm following the events correctly, Beau made his post after a couple fans attacked his wife for posting that it was nice to see Dake win (as opposed to Carter) or something. He then alludes to a particular individual in the PSU room that was engaging in bullying and other toxic behavior. Am I overly reaching when I think that the person Beau is referring to maybe is the person that Dake wrestled against (Carter) and his wife was happy to see not win? Admittedly, I think it's possible I'm getting ahead of myself but there is not much else to go off of.
