Iowa at PSU Predictions - Fourth Annual

99% of gamblers quit before they win big -
He redshirted in 2020, 2021 was the free year and 2024 was a medical. This is his 3rd year of active competition and, I think, means he has 1 more year of eligibility remaining.
-
that is a guess on my part based on his wrestlestat. If he's not available next year then the Tan Toms might get locked up in the tanning beds with no way out
-
bro, I can't believe I forgot about Welsh. Davino-Bouzer-Mendez-warm body-warm body-Gallagher-Kharchla-Welsh-warm body - Feldman is the making of a good lineup. I'd say they've gone from "cooked" to "laying on the baking sheet ready to be salted and roasted"

Race for the Podium - 2/4/25

You can't bait or hound people into talking about Basset. You need to let these things play out naturally or else the over/under becomes void and you'll be penalized CBs -
Idk what exotic lands you've been to but around this here parts the 69" means 69 inches, God's preferred height for his male subjects and even if Bo never quite makes it to that golden standard, he'll be ok. Aaron Brooks did just fine at 4'3"

I'm cautiously optimistic that The Tan Tom University can start cooking with peanut oil in the next 2 years. Get Davino in the lineup, continue to progress Bouzer and Gallagher, get Sasso back on track, gear up Feldman for top 3 and figure out something between 184 and 197. It's a lot (I'm probably overlooking eligibility) and I think there are valid concerns regarding development recently, but I think Tan Tom and his bronze battalions should not be underestimated. As an aside, I think it's funny that none of the wrestlers have had a noticeable tan in at least 5 years. You might not though
-
That's way too high. I'd say over under 5.5 on new threads that are started strictly about Bo with 8.5 on total new threads that at some point talk about Bo.

Does Iowa panic if they DON'T land Bassett
Mr. PeanutButter replied to Masonbuckeye's topic in College Wrestling
There will certainly be some bellyaching. Have you been paying attention to what a loud subset of PSU fans have been saying on Twitter and the forums about Bo? -

Ohio State is toast. Iowa is charred to a crisp. The DT era will end before it begins. Michigan is defunding and Cornell is getting annexed by Canada -
Bo Bachelor ready to give his final rose

I feel like this is an overly cynical take even per the wrestling community's standards. What will people be saying if he commits to PSU or VaTech? That not even Bob Nichol's nickles or David Taylor's gnome ears could sway him? -
Carter stallrocci strikes again
Mr. PeanutButter replied to AOCStallsLikeAMug's topic in College Wrestling
I rewatched the match just now and, I'm afraid to say that I was wrong. By my counting, Carter took one more meaningful shot than Angelo in the first period and initiated the only meaningful sequence in the 2nd. Angelo got both arms around the leg twice in the third and made 5 other shot attempts - but I wouldn't call them good. Carter got in very deep very late in the third but it seemed to me like he didn't work terribly hard to finish. Which is funny because I read over and over again that Angelo was simply shooting to burn clock. I think that is a dumb take but if ever there was a display of "shooting to stall", Carter The Scholar exemplified it masterfully in the third period. However, overall Starocci was more offensively minded than I gave him credit for initially. Finally, to make it abundantly clear, I think Angelo deserved those stall calls, just like how I think basically anybody that backs up to the edge to reduce action is stalling. I've aired my grievances sufficiently regarding this match so I won't burn clock any further. -

My thoughts on Mr Hollywood are well known but I think that is a bit much. My frustration with the match stems from the fact that, if the singlets were swapped, people's tune on the match would be completely different. If "Iron Mindset" Starocci pushes forward without a single offensive shot == that's action, he's taking ground and imposing his will, the other guy taking shots isn't actually trying to score, etc. But when a different wrestler does the same thing, particularly if they are from Iowa, it's stalling. When the PSU singlet wrestles a low scoring match it's because they are "trying to not show too much" (quite possibly one of the most crackerjack things I've ever heard) but if a different wrestler has a close match, it's obviously because they are allergic to offense and, depending on their status, overhyped. The hypocrisy is insane and hilarious. Edit: just to clarify, I'm not advocating that Angelo shouldn't have been called for stalling. Im fine with the calls and was fine with Arnold getting called on Sunday. My issue is with the double standard. I guarantee that many PSU fans watched Arnold wrestle on Sunday and unironically concluded that he was stalling the whole time. -
Bo Bachelor ready to give his final rose
Mr. PeanutButter replied to okokzach's topic in College Wrestling
If he goes to: PSU: Swayed by Starocci's impressive mindset Iowa: Swayed by Terry's snow shoveling ability OKST: the cowboy mascots face will be replaced by Bo's Tom Ryan Tan University: he is allured by the power of positive infinity Anybody else: bags of cash Edit: I posted this just before he announced his final four. Unfortunately, I don't have anything dumb to say about VaTech -
I think he means 1 national champ started and ended his career at RU.

Trying hard to not read too much into the prominence of the OkSt family pic -
I came in with unnecessary heat. I apologize. Winning by just just enough is super lame. I'm annoyed when Parco does it and was annoyed when Brands, Warner, and other Hawkeyes did it. Sometimes a wrestler just needs to grind out a win. Fine, it happens. After all, you can't know whats all going on behind the scenes, as Shane Sparks loves to point out. But to attribute a close grindy match to a "superior folkstyle mindset"? That's bananas. Nolf and Retherford (my favorite PSU wrestlers) would never wrestle like that. Now there's a mindset that's worth celebrating and writing about. Not whatever this is.

Really WKN? This level of cope is beneath you. Starocci is a loud mouth who wrestled a very poor match against an undersized and outgunned true freshman. The standard for any 4x champ should be much, much higher than what was demonstrated last night. Please don't subject yourself to the humiliation of prostrating yourself before Carter Hollywood like so many middle aged PSU fans are wont to do. You can do better
