  1. Before Michigan, I was thinking that 3 wins was the expectation and 4 would be gravy (5+ would be when the giggles start). Post Michigan, I can't say I'm in a bad mood exactly but I'm definitely less excited. In fact, I'm considering going out with my girlfriend and her crazy friends instead of watching. Will definitely be more eventful.
  2. Yikes. Looks like I am the insane one. I haven't seen any of their episodes come across my feed lately so I wrongly assumed they were on hiatus without verifying
  3. I watched the most recent episode (Iowa-psu preview). I thought it was pretty good! Basch's PSU bias doesn't bother me. He is close with the team. It makes sense and he totally owns up to it. He has great guests sometimes and usually pretty good discourse. I am annoyed/disinterested at times but still tune in more often that not. I guess that makes it a solid podcast? With blood round out of commission and clash of combat going south, there aren't many options.
  4. Are you senile? Basch has had an entire episode about football, goes off on rants about the Bills for minutes at a time, brags about how much meat he's smoking, moans about how he doesn't want to go to NCAAs unless he gets a suite, and, as another poster mentioned, never misses an opportunity to name drop, and does this for every episode. On top of all that, he complains and/bags on some entity on a regular basis, usually Flo, then has the audacity to call them the "most sensitive" people (paraphrasing). Mind you, I'm lukewarm on FRL but Basch's podcast is a hurricane of turds rampaging through an ocean of crap, in comparison. You seriously have me concerned for your sanity now. Willie is a nice addition though.
  5. Indeed. But that was at 61kg. I think he's the favorite but the looming weight cut and the injury have added a wrinkle
  6. I'm continually surprised at how many people watch podcasts, especially hour+ long ones. Podcast listening is something I do when I go for a ride, drive, or even rock climb. To each their own!
  7. Carter. Don't expect him to lose but I wouldn't be shocked to see a very competitive match where Carter wins by 1-2 points but is essentially in control throughout. Maybe that doesn't count as a "Carvering"
  8. Don't know if this fits his degree aspirations but Iowa and Michigan would be happy to use him. Penn state could maybe put him in the lineup and redshirt their talented freshmen. Rich get richer. That being said, it would be cool to see him at a school outside of the usual dominant ones. North Carolina with Koll is particularly a juicy proposition
  9. What does anything you said have anything to do with anything?
  10. That would leave us with 9 weights. I'm not necessarily opposed to the other changes but just wondering what is crazy about 200 and 215? (I didn't put a lot of thinking into the weight suggestions)
  11. Franek wins 2-1 on locked hands
  12. 128 135 143 153 163 174 186 200 215 MaxUltraWeight I think adding an 11th weightclass is an interesting idea. But I also think overtime should include a round where strikes are allowed so maybe don't let me write the rules.
  13. Hm. Okay let's go: Ayala, 3-0 Nagao, 3-3 Woods, 6-3 Kasak, 6-6 Franek, 9-6 Messenbrink, 9-9 Star, 13-9 Bernie, 16-9 Brooks, 19-9 Kerkvliet, 23-9
  14. Totally sound logic but I really, really hope we don't get any ducks. If it were to happen, I can see either team sitting their 141 pounder. Bartlett has more of a reason to since he presumably has the 1 seed on lock but the chatter on line is that Woods has been sick and possibly dealing with a minor injury so I wouldn't be shocked if the Brands sit him to let him gel. Mind you, I'm not confident in the validity of this chatter. It could just be excuse making. One could also argue that Gabe not wrestling at 174 is a duck variant given his prior online comments.
  15. If I were to lobotomize myself and go full homer, I'd pick a 5-5 split with decisions only and with 125, 141, 149, 157, and 165 going Iowa's way. Iowa gets the criteria win. More realistically, I think 3 wins would be good and 4 would be great. Iowa gives up bonus at heavyweight and most likely at 174 but I believe Glazier and Arnold (at 184) keep their losses to decisions.
  16. As a hardcore Iowa fan: gd, that was painful. Good work, Michigan. Woods isn't going to make it to the NCAA finals. I am in pain (but not really)
  17. I bet money on this meet. If things go par, I lose big
  18. why is deagu all of a sudden in shape
  19. Carter still a little under the weather or Rogz tougher than we (I) thought? Rogz didn't get to his offense, but he stayed in the middle for the most part and actually took some ground in the 3rd
  20. I forgot about the major. Maybe not much of an upset then? Foca has been inconsistent this year
  21. Foca just lost to Ayzerov of Columbia
  22. not the right thread but I thought it was noteworthy nonetheless: Foca just lost to Ayzerov of Columbia 4-0
  23. I hate to say it, but Kasak is looking like a very promising true freshman, even up a weight
