  1. That is technically true but if you want to show the whole picture you should specify that in his last season of competition when he was a heavy favorite to win NCAAs he was not allowed to participate in NCAAs.
  2. He did compete his freshman year - he just wasn't good enough at that time to be one of the best in his weight.
  3. Schalles was not allowed to wrestle at NCAAs his senior year for some arcane reasoning - I can't recall the details - that year he did beat the NCAA OW who was at 177 (Floyd Hitchcock Bloomsberg) who would have been 1 or 2 weights above him. Wade would have competed at 158 or 167 that year.
  4. After further thought I will change 157 to Lee Kemp
  5. Really enjoyable breakdown by Seth - thanks for posting NF
  6. 125 - S Abas 133 - Yojiro Uetake 141 - Logan S 149 - Yianni 157 - Pat Smith 165 - Kyle Dake 174 - Mark Schultz 184 - Cael 197 - Ed Banach Hvwt - Gable
  7. Navy should have Wask (#22) coming in from NAPS - Penn will have Cosgrove (#39) coming in at 197 - he will contend with Urbas for the starting spot. Army has a good class coming in this year but I don't know if any will go diectly to WP or if they are going to MAPS.
  8. I doubt it - If he were to get another year he would have a great shot at the NC at 157 - 165 will once again be loaded KOT, Carr, Amine, Hamitti, possibly Haines if he doesn't RS - I think he would stay at 157.
  9. LU - best guess 125 - Bailey/Seymour 133 - McGonagle/Crookham 141 - Crookham/Hines 149 - Hines/Brignola/Bryant 157 - Brignola/Bryant Josh H is not getting an extra year although I would love to wrong about that 165 - Meyer/Frinzi 174 - Logan/Lawrence 184 - C Rogers 197 - Bears 285 - Taylor
  10. Lee over Glory Fix over RBY Alierez over Wood Yianni over Sasso Humphrey over Haines O'toole over Carr Starocci over Lewis Hidlay over Keckeisen Boboacorsi over Elam Parris over Kerk
  11. In order of closest to being locks - Lee, Yianni, Starocci, Brooks RBY - the other 5 weights have to much parity to have a strong favorite.
  12. Spencer Lee, Bryce Andonian, Tanner Cook, Vito and Yianni.
  13. Not only made the U20 World team but came home with Gold
  14. Is Younger wrestling for Cuba really an option? It is the case that he defected from Cuba as did Echimendia isn't it? - If that is not true and the Cuban government just sent him to study at ISU that would be different.
  15. Football coach would tell him how much $$$ he could make and steal him.
  16. That may be true but it was only the case because most rankers were assuming that Quincy Monday was moving up to 165. Monday confirmed he was staying at 157 prior to the beginning of the season and he was the obvious choice as the #1 guy for 157. I do not know if the various rankers updated their preseason rankings with that info but they should have.
  17. I think Kharchla wants to compete in FS at 74 kg so I expect he will stay at 165. I have been expecting Sasso to move up for a while but he is in his 5th year in college wrestling at 149 (counting his RS year) so I am not sure that will happen either.
  18. Carter Bailey has looked good too.
  19. Sasso has another year to use - Do you think he is moving up or is not going to use his last year of eligibility?
  20. You seem to not grasp the concept that the only way an athlete will get to compete in 5 full seasons of NCAA competition is if one of those seasons of competition was the 2020-2021 free year. If you did not compete in the 2020-2021 season you will not be able to actually compete in 5 years of an NCAA sport.
  21. Gimp my point is pretty simple - the athlete is only going to get an extra year (be able to compete in a 5th year of NCAA wrestling) if they actually competed in the 2020-2021 season. For some people, (those that wrestled in 2020 it means they can be in 5 conference tournaments but will only get 4 NCAA tournaments. (ie Brooks or Carr) for others it means they can end up competing in 5 Conference tournaments and 5 NCAA tournament - is Starocci & O'Toole. Still the central point of the discussion is that as this rule apllies to Glory, Vito and Yianni - they did not compete in 2021 and they will not get an extra year. Yianni and Glory are done this year with their eligibility. Vito has this year and 1 more year after that (can't say if he will be able to use that final year at Cornell or not). Josh H is also done with eligibility this year and (knock on wood) he will have competed in 4 EIWAs but only 3 NCAAs due to 2020 having been canceled.
  22. Also incorrect as explained by BRF - all 3 are done this year.
  23. That is incorrect - if you did not compete in the 2021 season you do not get an extra year. That is why Josh Humphreys (Lehigh) will be done this year. If you wrestled in 2021 is does not count against your eligibility. Not wrestling that year for whatever reason does not add a year to eligibility. That is also why no one redshirted any of their kids that year.
  24. The Ivy League has a rule that does not let an athlete compete if they have completed their undergraduate degree. I also believe there is a limited amount of semesters that the students can be in school without getting their degree. That is why you often see some of the Ivy students not attending school during the fall semesters. Thede rules are only in the Ivy League and would not stop an athlete from graduating and then going to another NCAA school to compete as a graduate student.
  25. Neither Monday or Glory will have any eligibility after this season. Both wrestled at the 2019 NCAA tournament and both wrestled in 2020 and were seeded in the NCAA tournament that was cancelled that year. Princeton took 2021 off so neither were in the "year that didn't count" Both took 2nd in the 2022 NCAA tourney. This will be the fourth and final year for both of them and it appears it will be at Princeton.
