  1. Unfortunately it seems that almost everyone has transfer potential now a days
  2. Never mind - I see he is part of Bono's incoming recruiting class for Wisconsin - I think he has a lot of potential.
  3. Does anyone know where Julian George is wrestling in college ? - he just had a nice jr world tournament where he made the semi finals against Meyer Shapiro - thanks for any info
  4. You are correct about what happened - Most of the time the ref will stop the action and issue a warning to the offending wrestler prior to calling the penalty point. The ref did not issue a warning nor did he call the fleeing. I can't believe they did that on a challenge. Young Miss Janiak does bear some of the fault in that she stopped wrestling to score one minute before the match was over - she gave up 2 TDs in the last 25 seconds while she was in killing time mode. I hope she learns from that. That being said the call was still horrible.
  5. Gwiz iwould be a good bet - If he doesn't qualify as an AC I might pick Varner - he probably trains with Kerk & Snyder still.
  6. Thanks that is good - Flo has brackets up and there was no USA guy shown in those 2 brackets - glad to hear they are all set
  7. Does anyone know what happened with Ben Davino 60kg and Brock Mantanona 65kg? - the brackets are out on Flo and neither one of them are shown in the brackets.
  8. Vito starts his tournament with Abakarov from Albania - the 57 kg World Champ who beat Gilman last year - should be interesting.
  9. All of the military academies have prep schools they often send incoming freshman to for a year. For the Naval academy it is NAPS located in Newport RI. I think they send a lot of incoming kids there to see if the military life is a good fit for them - it seems a lot of athletes go that route. Once you start at the academy you are right it is usually 4 and done. On the good note for the recruits I believe the clock starts for their service as soon as the enter the prep school.
  10. I'll bet that changes next year with PSU getting 2 in 1 year.
  11. Dake is obviously a "Vet" (already corrected above) and I would think having an Olympic Gold under your belt where you beat 2 multi time world/olympic Champs would qualify you as a "vet". So We have Zain, Dake, Taylor, Snyder and Gable who all have had significant success on the World/Olympic level. Add to that Richards, Lee & Chance all took out people with World medals and Vito beat the guy who took out silver medalist Fix and I would say the team is looking good. Zahid also looked really good against some pretty tough 92kg guys. I think this team will do really well in Belgrade.
  12. Vito has 1 year left - he does not get an extra year as he did not compete in the 2021 season. This will be his 4th and final year competing for Cornell. Hardy has 3 years left. Carlson has 1 year left. Parco has 2 years left. Alirez has 1 year left. Matthews has 1 year left.
  13. That is probably true as long as Nagao stays at 133. With his build I could see him out growing 133 - time will tell.
  14. Aside from Robbie Howard PSU is stockpiling a great deal of talent that could be at 125/133 over the next few years (it is tough to project exactly which weight these High school kids will be) Steen is already in the room, Nasdeo and Davis arrive this year and Lilledahl and his teammate M Gibson the following year. With McHenry added to that mix I expect a high level guy will emerge for both of the 1st 2 weights
  15. I would hope that Chandler Rogers would be the starter at 184 and that he will be pretty competitive as a RS Frosh.
  16. I agree with you that Zare is a great young heavyweight and could rack up a lot of World level medals if he gets the chance. However I think there is good chance he gets overtaken by an even younger Iranian prodigy Vala Masoumi (19 I think) - Not only is he huge and athletic but he is already competitive with some of the best in the world. He had the Mongolian WSM beat hands down in the Asian semis before allowing an inside trip with a few seconds left that cost him the match. I think this kid overtakes Zare by 2024. We will see. You are also right that it isn't reasonable to consider Mason on par with Zare considering everything Zare has accomplished on the senior level since the 2019 loss. They are both different wrestlers today and Mason will have to prove himself on the mat. Hopefully he will be attending many open tournaments and get a shot at him. I am very much looking forward to seeing what Gable can do against the field - I think he may dominate more completely than he did at the Olympics.
  17. Pretty Simple 2020 - Started as true freshman - counts as 1 year against eligibility 2021 - Started Does not count - Free Covid year 2022 - Started Counts as 2nd year of eligibility 2023 - Red Shirts does not count That leaves him with 2 years of eligibility
  18. I doubt Sadulaev walks around much more than 220 unless he has gotten really fat. I expect when he is training hard and in great shape his natuural weight is 97 kg without cutting. Gable is probably mid 250s so I would guess there is a 40 lb. difference. Sadulaev is the best I have seen but that amount of weight against a great wrestler is a lot. I think Gable would be to much for him.
  19. It was decent of you to put the word allegedly into your post at one point. I doubt that AJ will be showing up at any campus to participate in athletics until such time as the ongoing case is resolved. If the case is resolved and AJ is not found guilty of any criminal wrongdoing is it still your position that " under no circumstances should AJ be anywhere near that program."? just curious.
  20. I would say the 1st 3 spots are J Smith JB and Big Bruce - As for the last spot DT would have a pretty good claim if he won gold in 23 & 24. That would give him 2 Olympic Golds, 3 World Golds and a W Silver. However his claim might get murky depending on what Snyder and Dake do in 23 & 24. If Snyder were to win both I would put him ahead of Taylor (especially if were to beat Sadulaev doing it) If Dake were to win both it would be a close call.
  21. Where did the older Santaniello who started out at Navy end up?
  22. Prayers for a full recovery for a great young man.
  23. Agreed - both of those guys are a credit to our sport
  24. Do you know which conference they will be qualifying through?
