  1. Guess not, he didn't wrestle at the OU/Mizzou dual yesterday. The funny thing is that wrestlestat shows Hamiti is the favorite against KOT in the dual today! First of all, that's a match I can't wait to see, secondly I can't believe Hamiti is the favorite.
  2. Tyson isn't known for his towering intellect.
  3. I think people tend to forget how good Pat Smith was, despite his 4 NCAA titles, because he never made the national team at the Sr level. Plus that was 30 years ago, how many people under the age of 40 can claim to have watched Pat?
  4. At least Smith wasn't afraid to take shots!
  5. I think the Hawkeyes brought in better transfers than OSU did, actually. Parco/Teemer/Buchanon are all multiple AAs who placed last year. OSU got Cam Amine (ugh, no bonus points there!), Fish (exciting but has never AA'd), Hamiti (2 time AA, failed to place last year), and Hendrickson who finished 3rd last year. Yeah, Smith needed replacing. Nice guy, but he should've been canned a long time ago.
  6. I think the Brands' boys are legends. World champs, multiple time NCAA champions, and successful coaches. They may be crazy, but those boys are legends in my mind. Also, Oklahoma State has looked a lot better this year, primarily due to transfers. When those guys are gone, what happens next year? We'll see if DT can maintain the enthusiasm long enough to truly rebuild OSU, and it ain't going to be easy. Have you seen "The Best of Times"? During halftime of the alumni football game a guy gives the team an inspirational speech. As the team files out Kurt Russell's guy says "that should keep them going through the kickoff". That's what DT reminds me of so far: he's inspirational to the guys wrestling for him, but how far can that take them in the long run? I'm hoping he takes them all the way to the top, it's time for another team to rule the roost for awhile.
  7. Kasak doesn't look inbred to me.
  8. Yes, Pat Smith did beat another NCAA champ. Guy from Wisconsin, I think. Can't remember his name but Smith wrestled him at the All Star meet.
  9. That's a surprise. I thought Iowa would be a big favorite against OSU. Guess I need to find the OSU/Iowa prediction thread...
  10. You may be right. I hope Plott wins, Okie State needs all the help they can get against the Hawkeyes, and I want to see a good tight dual. I think Iowa is going to smoke OSU though.
  11. You think Ferrari is going to beat Plott?
  12. That wasn't always the case. Back in the days of unlimited HWT it was very common for guys to both wrestle and play football in college. The 275 and later 285 weight limits on HWT killed wrestling getting the talented huge guys. Do you think Gable Steveson would've been able to beat all 450 pounds of Chris Taylor in an NCAA match? Forget about it!
  13. Sumos don't have the endurance for football.
  14. I don't even know when techfalls became a thing. Sometime after I was done with my wrestling career. There was no mercy on the mat when I wrestled
  15. I've never seen a score that high before. I remember seeing a 34-6 score at the state tournament back in 1981. Back in those days any win by 12 points or more scored the same as a techfall today and was called a "superior decision", but there was no 15 point "mercy rule" like today. Seems to me if you can rack up 30 points on somebody that you probably could pin him if you wanted.
  16. I had Branch near the top of the list of guys to replace John Smith, along with Coleman Scott. I was stunned when OSU hired David Taylor (but pleased).
  17. Tom Ryan is wrong. CSU doesn't deserve a wrestling program, and soon they won't have one. My condolences to the kids who accepted scholarships to wrestle for such a rotten school.
  18. I hated that dude. What an ego that guy had. I remember him talking between rounds at NCAAs about what cowards guys were who turtled up so he couldn't pin them.
  19. I remember Cael beating that fat dude from OSU that went into MMA. Cormier!
