  1. Hamiti bounces back with a first period tech against Codei Khawaja of Serbia. Vito is up next on Mat 2. Devan Turner up now. Joey Blaze is after Vito. Brayton Lee on deck on Mat 1. Ruiz a few matches back on Mat 3.
  2. Hamit loses by tech to Vasyl Mykhailov of Ukraine 10-0. Didn't look like the same Hamiti from the Russia dual, he looked slow. Mykhailov is good though. He has two Senior Worlds bronzes. Ruiz is cruising in his match against Codei Khawaja of Serbia. Bout board here: https://www.sportzona.pl/app/events/view/wrestling/6884
  3. Starting now, Hamiti will be first up on Mat 3, followed by Simon Ruiz. I think Vito will be on Mat 2 but not sure when yet Also Plott finished in 3rd yesterday
  4. Plott loses to Ivan Chornohuz of Ukraine 9-6. Should have more matches on the backside in the next session.
  5. Plott techs Luza Tsertsvadze of Georgia 15-5. After the first exchange where Plott gave up a fairly easy takedown I thought it might get ugly. Tsertsvadze looked like a giant compared to Plott, but he was attacking relentlessly and it paid off. Ivan Chornohuz of Ukraine next.
  6. Plott beats Filip Rogut of Poland. He was up 8-2 when Rogut injury defaulted. He was bleeding (from his nose I think) every 30 seconds it felt like. Kind of funny because if you've watched Plott much he's usually the one needing a lot of blood time
  7. https://www.youtube.com/@sportzona4607/streams Plott should be up first in 20 minutes
  8. Result and links to highlights. A lot of the guys were wrestling up in weight. Probably a factor in Dee's loss and it appears par terre was a big difference maker 125kg - Doucet DEC Habila Awusayiman 3-0 | Highlights Awusayiman previously wrestled at 97kg. 2024 Olympian (Lost 9-5 to Kyle Snyder). 2x Asian Championships medalist (Silver, Bronze). 61kg - Ramirez DEC Zou Wanhao 4-3 | Highlights Zou was a 2024 Olympian (1-1, lost 3-2 to Spencer Lee). U23 World Bronze. 74kg - Swiderski TF Shen Tao 12-1 (4:59) | Highlights Shen was 5th at U23 Asian Championships. 79kg - Lu Feng TF Lockett 14-1 (4:18) | Highlights It looks like he got taken down and then turned 3x. Then he got a takedown and was reversed and then turned some more. Feng was a 2024 Olympian (1-1). U23 World Silver. 86kg - Facundo DEC Cao Nan 4-1 | Highlights Cao was a 2x U23 Asian Championships medalist (Gold, Bronze). Senior Asian Championships 5th. 92kg - Merrill TF Narenmanduhai 11-0 (2:40) | Highlights Narenmanduhai was U23 Asian Championships Bronze.
  9. Nothing you said suggests Ben would've beat Pendleton if he had to face him again. Of course Ben's stats improved after he didn't get handed 3-4 losses each year from Pendleton. Plus the fact that he sought out extra matches against lower level guys for the express purpose of padding his stats. You're also ignoring the fact that Ben redshirted and Chris didn't. In their second year on campus, they both lost once at NCAAs and then won the next two years. Give Chris that non-RS year back and he's a 3x champ and Ben is a 1x champ and this isn't even a discussion.
  10. Could be fun if Dake opens up. Or maybe Aeoden scores early and forces the issue

  12. My 2-deep picks 25: Spratley, Ramirez 33: Figueroa, Sakamoto 41: Swiderski, Vega 49: Jamison, Young 57: Travis, Robideau 65: Lockett, Routledge 74: Facundo, Mower 84: Ryder, Thompson 97: Merrill, Goff HWT: Doucet, Simpson HM: McComas, Hughes, Guerrero, Robb, Johnson
  13. The 2009 freestyle match was the year after Ben made the Olympic team. Chris had not been training the year before because he thought he was done competing. The argument that Ben was better than Pendleton relies on the assumption that Ben coincidentally jumped several levels immediately after Chris left. I think the freestyle match is good evidence against that assumption. Ben was always great. There were just two years where he didn't have to face Pendleton.
  14. That's a separate question. On FRL today when taking about the best 184 of the 2000s, Bo Nickal seemed to be an afterthought to them. Toward the end of the conversation one of them said even though he doesn't think Bo was the best of the group, he would most like to have Bo's college career because of how exciting and fun it was. If you ask me who is the better college wrestler, Askren or Pendleton, I think it's Pendleton because he won head to head. During college and after college. I don't think Ben had some incredible improvement between his sophomore and junior year. He was a finalist every year of his career, the only difference in the result was whether he had to face Pendleton.
  15. I don't think Chris wrote his own Wiki page. Here's some more bio on him that doesn't mention Askren if that's what you're wanting https://osubeavers.com/sports/wrestling/roster/coaches/chris-pendleton/3081 I'm not necessarily contending that Pendleton is the greatest of the quarter century, just that I can't fathom putting him behind Askren.
  16. I'm afraid you've got it backwards. As I mentioned above, Pendleton won their freestyle faceoff as well
  17. It wasn't just the two finals wins. Pendleton beat Ben 7 times in college and then a couple years after Askren was out of college he beat him again in freestyle. Pendleton was just better.
  18. Hamiti is just inexperienced imo. Hopefully this isn't his last international competition of the year
  19. I think she wanted to be coached by the Brands
  20. I wonder why Raney went up a weight class for Greco?
  21. For those who missed the match of the night
  22. whoa big get for AF. #5 in the class
  23. Kellen Wolbert and Jordyn Raney take a bow!! What a match!
  24. Wolbert's an Askren kid so maybe he's a late bloomer like the others. He was doing well at the US Open but then missed weight on day 2.
  25. Yeah same thing happened to him against Mirasola. The talent is there so Hawkeye fans should still be excited
