1 - holding back has been very popular for good reason before NIL. It allows for better physical and mental development-please don’t try to argue against this. 2-in the NIL era, there are far more “potential rewards” for wrestlers than there have ever been, so giving your athlete the best chance often means, great coaching, great academics and holding back for max preparation for college. 3-I have asked my wrestling kids if they wanted to hold back and the conversation maybe lasted 1 minute. It was a quick no and we moved on. Oldest started high school weighing 103 on a full feed and did just fine. Youngest is tracking the same and we are not holding back. I have several friends that held their kids back. It was hard during the holdback year, then good for 2-3 years and then possibly a mistake for the senior year because their kids were top 5 in the country and were basically untouchable without going to national events. 4-Caring parents often look out for the best interests of their kids and should be left to make decisions that are in their best judgment. Rules should be in place to protect the kids. I would bet that there are a lot of holdbacks in football because the physical maturity that is needed in such a punishing contact sport. 5-maybe the question back to the coach is, why can’t you prepare my kid without being held back 6-coach is a good guy and just telling it like it is!

Will there be a cake with entertainment?

So much can change for 25/26 but it’s always fun to speculate. And yes, this team should be a contender. 125 Kilkeary 133 Davino 141 Blaze 149 Mendez 157 Cannon 165 Bouzakis 174 Birden 184 Welsh 197 Rogotzke 285 Feldman

Why I the world would you keep any of the old staff. They are going to be dead weight against the direction DT is going. Admin stuff is overrated and can be figured out pretty easy. It’s pretty hard to change people and DT needs to remove all barriers and make it his way. He will make a mistake or two along the way, but thats okay for someone that brings a lot to the table.

I'm not sure if you are being serious. Brooks just took out DT while maybe not even being eligible for the olympics. DT screwed Bo back when he had surgery on his knee and didn't tell Bo so he could drop down to 86. Brooks and Nickal are not buddies with DT.

Well, not so fast there. Do you know how many recruits Coleman misled and said he was staying at UNC?
-
Do you not remember the wet mat fest with Cox? No way. yes to Kennedy and Gilman.

Best take away I had was Sammy might be back second semester. To me, that means Sammy is coming back, but doesn’t want to take classes.

any other nuggets from the banquet? Does that mean Levi beats Mitchell?
-
Good picks but do you have any good reason for MM and Haines swapping weights? Same with PK bumping up to 197?
-
125 - Ayala 133 - Crookham 141 - Mendez 149 - Sasso 157 - Haines 165 - Messenbrink 174 - O'Toole 184 - Keckeisen 197 - Cardenas HWT - Hendrickson I only have 2 PSU champs next year, but the overall depth of the team will likely have 7+ AAs making it hard to beat them. Yes, I know, I pulled out the hollywood script for Sasso.

Penn St has had an amazing run atop of college wrestling. He made his money in the upper weights, pioneering financing and special medical practices. He recruited amazing talent (especially in the upper weights) and for the most part, took them to higher levels and developed the most dominate multi-time champions in recent memory. However, the arms race has been legalized and competition by Michigan, Iowa and other schools is making an impact - the field has been leveled. Cael still owns the coaching advantage and will win ties. Cael also is a younger coach beating out the old blue bloods of Smith, Brands and Ryan. Over the next 5 years, these three coaches will likely turn over to the likes of Askren, Taylor, Burroughs, Snyder, Dake....Iowa style will be reinvented, recruiting against an aging John Smith will end, and who knows what happens at Ohio State, but the money and facilities are in place. Penn State has now had to dip into the portal instead of its recruiting prowess and talent development. Casey Cunningham likely retires after his son finishes in 5 years. After this olympic cycle, we will see elite athletes make their move. Askren to Wisconsin, Taylor + Dake to Iowa and Burroughs officially on staff at Penn to take over the ivy league. These big time coaching changes will spread the recruits around and level the playing field. These changes will hurt Penn State and benefit Ohio State the most, not because it is getting the next best set of recruits but because Penn State will drop down to sub 100 points which then makes them beatable.

125 - Kilkeary 133 - Bouzakis 141 - Mendez 149 - Sasso - he's coming back, maybe late December, but he's coming 157 - Cannon - could see Blaze in a package deal with his younger brother 165 - Kharchla 174 - Welsh 184 - Rogotzke 197 - Geog/Potential transfer, but unlikely 285 - Feldman This lineup will score points at nationals and is likely to have multiple finalists.

Agree with most of the grades except D’Emilio and Gallagher. Dylan is an A, he is on track to AA and score over 10 points at nationals. I’d lobby for A+ for Jesse as I think he wins a title this year. Paddy gets a B for year over year improvement, but I see his performance in-line with Geog.

1 pt escape, 3 pts takedown, 4 pts back, 1 pt riding = 9-1

Anyone know the riding time? I thought he should have had the major?

Iowa v. Oregon State (Sunday 11-19-23)
scorenomore replied to Warm Up Champ's topic in College Wrestling
I think Menke 157 from Oregon State is better than what people think. Not predicting a win, but I think he might avoid bonus. -
I think Davis starts. He is the most talented on the current roster and with Lilledahl coming in next year, it's Davis' best time to cement himself in the lineup.
-
Why not Rogotzke at 184? He has 4 more dates he can go
-
Are the scores posted anywhere?

Feldman was amazing! His attack and score rate was off the charts. I thought Geog looked like a full 197 but kind of was hoping for a little more quickness since he was coming up and Masita was coming down.
