  1. Doesn’t this more maybe just mean Yianni outgrew 65kg as opposed to wrestling 149 in college having anything to do with it? We’ve also seen guys like Micic make major cuts from where they wrestled in college and have success, so I don’t think having 141/149 as the college weights really has anything to do with our lack of success at 65
  2. He only beat Schultz 11-5 and I feel like Mullen is probably in a similar boat. I think it’s a major but not more than that. Could get proven wrong of course
  3. I like this idea
  4. This is not true. 220 in high school is often forfeited too, as @Gus says below
  5. Big Jim Mullen not getting much respect. I don’t think he gets teched or pinned
  6. Per year? Or total? This seems like peanuts compared to the slumlord’s offers
  7. Fair enough. Speaking of CP, I’d gotta agree with him when he said that if they end up using Ferrari in the postseason that it was a monumental mistake to not use Arnold last year. That almost surely gets them a trophy, and possibly 2nd. That said, I do think Ferrari stays in redshirt. He does speak highly of the Brands so don’t think he’ll necessarily be upset if he doesn’t start this year. He’s also probably already getting the highest NIL offer anyway so not like he could get more elsewhere. Using him in the PSU dual could give him his shot at Starocci though (and save a loss for Arnold who would still have a shot in the postseason) Yeah I could see them using Ferrari against PSU for that reason if they think Ferrari is about even with Arnold. I’m still surprised they used him against ISU though…maybe that’s why people are assuming Ferrari must be better…
  8. Am I the only one that’s surprised that people seem to be assuming Ferrari is better than Arnold based off one 8-2 win over a guy that is 2-6 in 3 trips to NCAA’s? I doubt either has a shot against Starocci, but I feel like Arnold has just as good a shot, maybe better
  9. Bartlett has a higher chance to win than he does of finishing lower than 3rd IMO
  10. Minnow
  11. Hopefully for him this one is true which would take some heat off of him for accusing the UWW of antisemitism for not giving Amit Elor wrestler of the year when it was just because of rankings points
  12. I could be wrong but I think the Flo guys said something about there being a question about whether wrestling in the All-Star might actually burn the redshirt
  13. Barr interview on Baschamania. All in on Penn State culture and Jesus. National championship incoming
  14. I’m not sure I’d really call a parent that only cares about their kid a “fan of the sport,” but to each their own.
  15. Good interview on the Bader show. Seems to imply there’s a “good chance” he’ll try to go to Worlds this year. Spoke pretty highly of his time with the Bills, but didn’t get much into the WWE stuff.
  16. ad blocker works for me. Only problem is if trying to read news sites that won’t let you read them with ad blocker on
  17. For most interesting and not necessarily most likely (although sometimes it’s both), I’d say: 125: Battles of transfers/current guys. Some combo of: Ventresca/Flynn Flynn/Ramos/Spratley Robinson/Poulin/Noto 133: Byrd/Ragusin usually brings the fire 141: Mendez vs Alirez last 2 champs 149: Henson vs Van Ness defending champ vs highest remaining placer from 2023 157: Taylor vs Downey rematch of controversial CKLV Saldate vs Fish former MSU Hipolito vs anyone 165: Mesenbrink vs Barraclough 174 and 184: Haines vs O’Toole, Starocci vs Keckeisen little chance it will be any different matchup 197: Ferrari vs Glazer Barr vs Beard 285: Steveson vs Kerk last 2 champs
  18. The casual fan poll would probably go to Haines due to the bandwagon PSU fan factor
  19. “First tier supporters” aren’t really the same as “fans” IMO. Does HS wrestling really have many fans that aren’t “first tier supporters”? NCAA wrestling does.
  20. That wouldn’t increase numbers. You’re removing a middleweight where there are more participants and adding an upperweight where there are less participants. And that’s true even for 220’s in high school.
  21. I’d be surprised if Plott loses in the Iowa dual but stranger things have happened
  22. That would be his 3rd redshirt in 4 years. If he stays at PSU his whole career hopefully he has about 3 degrees when he’s done
  23. Doesn’t look like he helped sell too many tickets
