  1. Ah didn’t know that, thanks. IIRC (could be wrong), there was a newspaper article where Erik said he was “offered a full ride” to Cornell by Koll (although I think it was later edited). I would assume for Koll to know that going in it would have had to have been based on family income anyway. But, I’d still put my money on Mason just really wanted to go to PSU and Erik wanted to be with him.
  2. Ah, got ya. Although I would doubt that’d be the case at least for Erik who has claimed to have gotten a “full ride for academics” to Cornell - https://www.federationforchildren.org/voices-for-choice/erik-gibson/ Although is he there now or TC3? Can you get an academic scholarship 2 years in advance? Regardless, my guess is Mason really wanted to go to PSU and they were a package deal.
  3. Did we also enjoy the “Yianni could be #2 on the GOAT list” era?
  4. As long as it’s freestyle, seems to be allowed
  5. Aren’t a lot of them just called “intrasquad” matches?
  6. So what is that, 5 transfers in Pitt’s lineup? Phillippi Heller x2 Casto Slinger
  7. I predict if Lee is at least 15-0 he will win the Hodge alone, barring some sort of crazy season by someone who finishes with a 100% bonus rate or something. Although should O’Toole be disqualified for being the only Mizzou guy to not tech or pin against Lindenwood? I think this thread is a decent question btw even if I’m responding to a Cinnabon alias. In spite of the trolling and bet welching, Cinnabon can start some good discussions…
  8. Do you mean any athletic scholarship, or any scholarship at all? Erik was on record as saying he was getting a “full ride” to Cornell, so I’m sure they’re getting something at PSU either academically or need-based. Depending on how much that is, I would think Mason at least would get something athletic, doubt Erik though.
  9. It’s different than Steveson because Steveson was never charged. But I agree, if Ferrari is acquitted he’ll probably get another chance in D1. I’m not convinced it will be at a top 15 or so school though. Another comparison could be Dayton Racer although not sure on the timing that actual charges came into the picture. Apparently he was expelled from Virginia Tech for alleged sexual assault, but was still eventually able to get a chance at tOSU - https://www.abc4.com/news/top-stories/the-justice-files-former-athlete-called-a-serial-date-rapist/
  10. Depending on your definition of “the field,” they are probably worse than the field at 125 since Suriano. But to be fair, most of that is driven by the 3 years they expected to have Suriano - 2018, 2019, 2020. Howard was 2-2 at NCAA’s in 2021 and Hildebrandt 1-2 last year, probably about equivalent to “the field.” But not looking good for this year. As far as Ferrari goes, I’d agree with the post saying Cael probably would have been sick of him sooner than Smith. He seems to stay away from guys with character issues or whatever you wanna call it to begin with, and doesn’t seem to have great results turning around the ones that do (although I’m not sure anyone does).
  11. Looks like wrestlestat has anointed McHenry as the starter
  12. Fair enough. I guess it would at least help the forfeit issue.
  13. Ben did talk about FTX on FRL 859 this week and made sure to say FTX wasn’t bitcoin as well as that SBF created his own worthless token which was part of the scam. Not clear what his opinion of SBF/FTX was prior to the recent developments though
  14. I don’t really see the point of this proposal other than eliminating Olympic and Medical redshirts, and presumably also more than one grayshirt year after enrollment. If you want to do that, just keep the current redshirt process and make a hard 5 in a 4 rule or whatever. Letting people compete for the entire season but not the postseason seems weird to me, and IMO would further deemphasize duals. What I kinda envision happening is guys wrestling their first 4 years, but then becoming a player coach or something while wrestling in the regular season but not the postseason. Can’t wait for the team ranking discussions…”well Penn State beat Iowa in the dual but David Taylor Jr isn’t eligible to compete at NCAA’s”
  15. I wonder how many creators cash the majority of their RAE out immediately vs “hodl’ing” if (not sure if I used that term correctly)
  16. Well Noto only beat him 3-1 so doesn’t seem like a huge upgrade. He does seem to be off to a rough start this year but Trombley made the R16 at 133 in 2021. Wonder how tough his weight cut is though
  17. Off topic from Iowa/CBU but speaking of former wrestlers doing a good job announcing - Hayden Hidlay was great for NC State
  18. You keep talking about the creators but they’re irrelevant to why @flyingcement started this thread: for the consumers. In addition to the confusion about not being sure how many events will be PPV or not, even one $15 PPV annually would be a pretty steep price increase, being 15% of the cost of an annual subscription (higher than inflation even). 4 PPV’s in a year and you’re paying more than Flo. And with tweets like the below, a lawyer better than FloKaren could probably make an argument it was a bait and switch/false advertising, although I’m guessing there’s something in the T&C’s saying they can change the price at any time: If you actually cared about the consumers and not just the creators, @nhs67’s idea of a higher subscribtion level that includes all PPV’s might not be a bad one.
  19. Eh, looks to me like Pop was clapping in a different direction and Noto came over and stared him down.
  20. Lol was Pop the one that said “bring it”?
  21. And yet it seems the creators that “roundly requested a PPV option” weren’t…
