  1. Is it true?
  2. Minnow claiming Teemer was paid $25K to apply to Iowa, which he did
  3. They do a good job, but this is a bit of an exaggeration. https://www.wrestlestat.com/team/38/lock-haven/profile 26th, 30th, 54th, 18th, 16th, 44th, 50th, 37th, 56th in the last 9 tournaments. The only 2 years where multiple guys made the blood round was Marsteller’s 2 years in 2018 and 2019. Their arguably most successful wrestlers have been transfers that got in trouble at their last school (you could maybe argue Perry, but his 2nd place finish was the only year he AA’d).
  4. Maybe at Hofstra too, getting eliminated right after naming a new coach!
  5. Well I think both Anthony (committing to Iowa despite them not actually recruiting him) and Angelo (throwing the PSU hat despite them not actually recruiting him) Ferrari have shown us that you can still “consider” schools that aren’t actually recruiting you.
  6. Didn’t they compete under the neutral flag in 2021 too due to doping sanctions?
  7. Good for him. I’m still confused if it was just Russian wrestling that told the athletes they were boycotting? Looking at this list, there are plenty of other athletes that accepted their invitations (but not all). But wrestling was the only one where several said “invitation initially accepted but subsequently declined.” There was one tennis player and one judoka (I think that’s what they’re called?) that said it as well, and judo looks to be the only sport where all eligible Russian athletes declined (3 others just showed as declined). There is also one Belarussian wrestler that also accepted. https://olympics.com/ioc/paris-2024-individual-neutral-athletes
  8. “When you wrestle Jordan you have to be ready for some headbutts to the face.” Good interview though, he said he’d be interested In wrestling Sidakov somewhere else. Also some good comments on suggestions for youth coaches
  9. In the interview, he says “when I was on the college team I would lift”
  10. Is Rutgers planning to hire his dad to be the associate head coach? That’s the only way I see him having Rutgers in the top four and honestly he’s already said that schools have offered his dad jobs and he didn’t really seem to appreciate that.
  11. I think the obvious counter hypothesis is that he does actually lift
  12. He also went undefeated in college opens this year, with a win over a NQ and in one of those opens he didn’t go past the first period including beating the guy that finished 3rd in D2 (the only match that lasted longer than 2 minutes)
  13. Gotcha, I was assuming you meant competition years
  14. Disagree. I think the “no press is bad press” line applies here. The Gardner Webb coach sure didn’t seem to have his feelings hurt, and thanks to Bo Bassett more people were able to learn of his comedic talents.
  15. Wondering this as well. He might’ve been able to AA at 133 this season
  16. But that’s not really negative IMO because no one was actually expecting him to consider those places
  17. Women’s and men’s, or just women’s?
  18. Logan Paul can’t be compared to TMS lol, but all of those people had shorter names that rolled off the tongue easier, as well being more well known. Also pretty sure KSI isn’t even in the WWE. Have there been any women that haven’t had their names changed? The only woman I can think of that I had heard of prior to joining WWE was Kacy Catanzaro of American Ninja Warrior fame (who was much more well known than TMS), and she had her name changed as well. There were plenty of real wrestling fans (including myself) that were skeptical that Gable would be successful in the WWE, largely because he seemed to lack charisma (which TMS does not). And once he was in it, he was disliked by many of their fans (partially due to his past SA allegation, but still). At first glance the comments I’ve seen from WWE fans about TMS are mostly positive.
  19. I believe the WWE still markets “Chad Gable” as an Olympian despite changing his name. It seems the only people that don’t have their name changed are ones that already have names that sound like stage names. Looks like there may also be something about the WWE being able to trademark the fake names but if that was a significant impact I don’t see why they wouldn’t just change everyone’s names. What makes you say she doesn’t have much earning potential? I saw mostly positive feedback from her performance, especially when you compare to Gable. We also know she has a good personality and charisma, so combined with her athleticism I would expect her to do just fine in the WWE (and “just fine in the WWE” would translate to “far more earning potential than in wrestling”)
  20. In Iowa wrestling is so big that wrestling stars are much more of “celebrities” than they are other places. Iowa also seems to be offering the most NIL money of late…
  21. People = Ayala’s mom
  22. Some reasons: CHA is arguably the best environment to compete in and at Iowa he can be known to more than just wrestling fans His club coach went there Spencer Lee Yes, NIL money
  23. Never heard of either of them being a “divisive presence or prima Donna.” Lee didn’t really “get injured,” he already was injured coming in. AFAIK Bassett does not have Lee’s pre-college injury history but he’s not graduated yet
