  1. Well there’s no doubt that Zane Richards has improved. However unless Gilman has an off day, I don’t see Zane winning. I think that Gilman just has more tools in his arsenal. I do think though that Gilman will probably move on to something else after the 2024 Olympics. But I thought for sure that Burroughs was going to hang’em up after 2020, and as we all know, he still at it. So who knows what Gilman will do.
  2. Well, my Mount Rushmore would be Big Bruce, John Smith, Jordan Burroughs, and SnyderMan
  3. Well obviously one Olympic Gold doesn’t make you the GOAT, but Gable is an exception wrestler, and appears to be at the top of his game. I am looking forward to watching him compete in the World’s this year and possibly the Olympics next year. And if he wins these events we can certainly continue to discuss his greatness.
  4. Well I was at the U.S. Open and saw Spencer’s matches. He did not look like his knees were hurting him, or that there was something else that might be he limiting his mobility. He looked super slick until the second period of his third match. Now I’m not a doctor or anything like that, and of course what I am about to say is pure speculation, but I think that Spencer’s condition has something to do with his blood not getting O2 or something causing his muscles not to get the energy they need. It seems to me that he just falls into an energy deficit when his initial level runs out. Now I know that some people have floated the idea that because Spencer’s knees have been all tore up that he can’t train like he needs to, and yes that could very well be the case. But whatever this is, I feel that Spencer is an amazing talent and I hope that he can get past whatever this is and we get to see him wrestle again.
  5. I know that it’s useless to say this but where’s Bo Nickal when you need him. He could be the guy at 92.
  6. So reading the comments about David Taylor, I just had a thought, what if Taylor wasn’t at his peak at these lower weights early on. I know that he was extremely good, but maybe he was a late bloomer so to speak, and it took him several years to mature and fill out his frame, to become what he is now. Also add in the number of years that he has been training at NLWC, and David has become the best in the world at his weight.
  7. So on the old forum by USA Wrestling there was a topic called USA All Time Ranking. In that post the author assigned a numerical value for medals and championships won. Olympic Gold 7 pts. World Champ 6 pts. Olympic medal 5 pts. World Medal. 4 pts. NCAA Champ 2 pts. NCAA finalist 1 pt. And All American.5 pts. So using this criteria Big Bruce has a comfortable lead with 70 pts. Jordan Burroughs is next with 52, then Snyder at 50, John Smith 43, Kyle Dake 37, Dave Schultz at 36, David Taylor 29. Leroy Kemp also at 29.
  8. Well I watched the Lee vs Bartlett match and apparently I thought Bartlett won, but I guess I missed something, so my apologies.
  9. Well I a while back I thought that Nick Lee was going to be the future at 65, but so far, it’s just not the case. I am not sure what is going on. Tonight vs Bartlett I thought he was going to win handily but Bartlett rallied from behind and held on. So Nick is out and going to get it figured out.
  10. Gable is just too athletic for Mason, and has tremendous technical skill as well. I think Gable will get the better of Gwizz tomorrow. But I will say that Gwizz does look like he’s trimmed down a bit and looks like he’s been spending a fair amount of time in the weight room. On a side note Hayden Zillmer was here, but didn’t compete, anyone have any idea why?
  11. Well let’s hope that Spencer can get healthy again and we can get to see him wrestle again. I guess that if there’s a silver lining to all this, is that his technique was very impressive.
  12. This is just my opinion but Spencer doesn’t look right. He’s obviously super slick technically, but in his last match he was up 9-0 coming out of the break. And basically didn’t do anything in the 2nd period. It makes me think that there’s something going on with him. And I’m not talking about his knees. Tonight he will face Suriano and I think Spencer is going to have to tech him or pile up the points and hang on to get past Nick. Watching Suriano today, he looks like his old self, a lot of moving around and just enough offense, so we’ll see what happens.
  13. Does Spencer win the US Open? I believe that he will. Then the question is, does he unseat Gilman? I think that with his college career in the rear view mirror, he is probably going full tilt after the spot.
  14. I saw on social media that she isn’t going to accept her spot at Final X. Anyone have any idea on what’s going on with her?
  15. Anyone know anything about Akmed Tazhudinov from Bahrain, he won the gold at 97 MFS.
  16. I know that this has nothing to do with the subject, but I would love to see some World championships come back to the US. I know that we get the World Cup, but it would be great if we could get a U17, U20, or Seniors back here.
  17. I am looking forward to seeing Spencer compete. I hope that he does well.
  18. It’s a tough subject, the individual wrestler has no say in what his or her government did or does. So it’s unfortunate for the individual. However Putin along with assistance from Belarus has invaded Ukraine. Putin and the leader of Belarus should be held accountable. But I guess the question is, what kind of accountability should that be? Difficult for me to answer, I would say that at the very minimum that they should not be able to compete under their national flag. I have been following international wrestling since Dan Gable won his Gold medal in 1972. And I am really tired of all the crap that the Russians and some of these other countries have pulled, and I’m to the point that maybe Russia and their state sponsored doping as well as everything else, that they should get banned, for a decade or so.
  19. Any word on Jason Nolf?
  20. I am wondering if Vito Arujau will end up being the guy at 61. Vito looked really good at the NCAA’s. I am not sure how he and Seth Gross will match up, but I am looking forward to seeing that match up.
  21. Well as I see it, Cael has built a super strong program. So everyone is chasing him, not just the Brands Bros. Iowa did pretty darn good on Friday getting three guys through the Blood rounds. They get to go home with 6 AA’s and a 2nd place. Some will say so what, but others would say that they would love to be 2nd with 6 AA’s.
  22. Well Cael has built quite a dynamo at Penn St. which is going to be very difficult for other teams to overcome. And I bring this up because even if you sent some of these current head coaches packing, the new coaches and staff will still have to deal with the monumental obstacle of Penn St.
  23. Well Spencer if he wanted to, could join the NLWC at some point in the future
  24. So, I kind of feel that Coach Smith should probably go, but who do you replace him with?
  25. Well I feel sorry for Spencer, I kind of feel that he needs a break from wrestling for a while, I don’t know how healthy he really is. But aside from that I was pretty amazed at Iowa’s run through the backside today, Murin, Brands, and Warner, all survived the blood rounds to AA. Earlier in the year, I thought Murin would AA this year, but when I saw his draw I was thinking oh no this isn’t going to be good. But he prevailed. So congrats to him. Brands, I really didn’t think it was going to be in the cards for him, he’s been injured and just hasn’t been much of an offensive dynamo in my opinion, but wow, he got some good wins today so congrats to him. Warner, well from the beginning of the season I really thought that he was just stale, just too many years of the grind in that Iowa mat room, but he showed up and will go down as a 5 time AA. So Congrats. Obviously, Penn St. are just phenomenal they have 8 AA’s, and the title. Probably set a record as well. But you have to give some other teams props as well Missouri, Ohio St. and Va. Tech will all have 5 AA’s. While Nebraska and Arizona St. will have 4 each. So these teams will have 37. Which is almost half of the total AA’s this year.
