We had 3 Champions, a runner up and a Bronze. And we nearly had two other Bronze medals. Obviously some guys didn’t perform as they wanted, but all in all, I thought a 2nd place team finish was very good.

David Carr, another guy who is new to the Senior team and he only a couple of seconds away from beating our nemesis at 74 kg., in Sidakov. I think he also over performed. Levi Haines, gets in the finals by beating a World Champ, and nearly won the Gold. Again Levi is good but was he a World beater? Especially this early in his Senior level career. I think he also qualifies as an over performer. Trent Hidlay, who picked him to be the World Champ? And although he’s had some good success on the Senior level I didn’t think that he would win the whole thing on his first go round. Pretty amazing if you ask me. Another over performer in my book.

Well I think that you could say that we had many people over performed. Let’s start with Jax Forrest, true he beat a lot of great guys to make the team, but that doesn’t always mean anything when you step foot on the mat at the Worlds or Olympics. Jax came within a malfunctioning challenge button from a Bronze. But my point is prior to the Worlds I think his only Senior level international experience was at the Pan Ams. So although we knew Jax was good but did we know that he would be this good? To me he qualifies as an over performer. Real Woods did over perform because of the fact that 65 is one tough weight class and the we the USA hasn’t had the best of luck in this weight class, but the difference between Jax and Real is that Jax is still in High School.

Well I know people will disagree, but I think the GOAT was Baumgartner. 13 World/Olympic medals. 5 Golds I believe. And John Smith 6 Golds being 2nd. But it’s a different era nowadays, so you can certainly make a case for JB, and for that matter SnyderMan. As for Helen, and Adeline, they are our greatest Women wrestlers, but the comparison between the Men’s and Women’s competition is light years different.

Well with Raney, and Jacobson both getting two wins under their belts, it’s something to build on.

Unfortunately for me, I didn’t pay much attention to Stanish until I saw him wrestle Bassett in the best of three series. But afterwards I realized that he had a great chance of doing very well at U20 Worlds.

No clue, but he didn’t look right, some people suggested that he just got out wrestled, but it looked like he just got manhandled to me. So I don’t know what happened, maybe a bad weight cut, maybe he overtrained and was just stale. I don’t have any insight or information about any specific health issues regarding Spencer but I have suspected for some time that there is something else going on with him besides his bad knees.

Well the 2028 Olympics are a long way off, and I am not sure who will even be on our team next year. We have a ton of talent coming up, and I am sure that some of them will also make our team along with Jax, and PJ.

Honestly I don’t know, I think he was very flat, so was it the cut? Was it that he was burnt out by overtraining for this event? I don’t know, but I will say something controversial, I have always felt that ever since Lee got pinned in the NCAA’s that there’s something else going on with him besides his banged up knees.

Well I am very excited for the future. I’m not sure who will be our 65 kg guy going forward after this year. I have to believe that Stanich will grow, so maybe it will be Blaze or Forrest fulfilling the role.

Eight medals, three champs (so far), the USA MFS juggernaut continues. Great job let’s close this out tomorrow with two more Champions.

So far I have been very impressed with our MFS team. We already have 2 Champions, and 1 Bronze, 2 more in the finals, another with a chance for Bronze medal and two other Studs starting their run tomorrow. We could end up with 8 medals which would be fantastic.

I agree, we need Kerk in the mix as well

Well as a fan of USA Wrestling, I am glad that he is back. I see this as a positive for our team and that weight class.

Well I’m sure CSBU would love to have him. He would certainly inject a lot of energy into the Roadrunners.
