It will be interesting to see how he matches up with Jaxon Smith if they meet at Big 10’s. Smith has some really slick stuff and Glazier has been able to get to the legs of everyone he’s wrestled this year and finish on everyone except Brooks (and AJ I guess).
I gotta stand up for my guys Sloan here. He has wins over Buchanan, Cardenas, Elam, Allred, Surber, Bockman, Joles.. Put some respect on his name. Those are as quality of wins as anyone in the weight class.
The 7 seed has made the finals 12 times since 01 and has faced the #1 seed every time and lost. Thus, the 7 seed needs someone on the top side to knock off the 1 seed so they can beat a lower seed in the finals.
It must be there 12 combined losses as a team that makes you think that. Or maybe their 6 guys that are still undefeated. I want PSU to lose as bad as the next guy but we need to be realistic here. They are juggernauts.
My guy Cael Swensen beat him last time they wrestled. Zerban has a really nice win over Cardenas and a solid win over Saldate this year but that is pretty much it. The wrestlestat algorithm has 3 Big 12 guys in front of him: Chittum, Downey, Mauller.
Yes. Very similar to how David Carr and Keegan O'Toole act. All seem like fine young men with their priorities in check. Obviously they want to win wrestling matches but it is not life or death for them every time they toe the line.
Sloan has that pancake headlock that he hit today but not a mixer that I’m aware of. Clay Carlson has a mixer that he hits a lot. Tanner Cook has the gator bacon he hits all the time.
On a single year basis, they have had seasons where they have been as good or better than Iowa or OK State. If you look over the last 15 years Iowa and OK State have consistently been at or near the top 5. OK State has had a couple of down years in the past 15 but has had 6 top 3 finishes. Iowa has had a about a dozen top 3 finishes. Mizzou had a third place finish in 2007.
I also cannot figure out Picko. He seems to be very athletic, stong and flexible with solid baseline positioning and technique. Then sometimes he just gets throttled by guys that are good not great. Look at his two matches to start the year against Alex Cramer as evidence. A 16-5 loss and a 7-2 win. He did start off his career as a 184 pounder and looks big at 174, so perhaps it is a tough cut and he has not figured out how to properly manage it?
