I think Avery Allen will push for a spot at 141/149. 141 and 149 are pretty open right now. I think Gross and Daniel Kimball are probably the front runners for those spot as of right now. I believe the plan is to redshirt Logan Swenson this season. Rhodes is the favorite for the 165 spot but Gaynor will push for it as well. Gaynor has wrestled some closed matches against high level competition but has been unable to get over the hump to this point. HWT is Rasmusssen's spot to lose.
Nope. The transfers fit nicely in for SDSU. Cobe can fill in for Swenson while he rehabs his knee and we really did not have anyone of note at 165 or 197 with Sloan and Cook graduating. The SDSU coaching staff values have a tight knit team and would not bring in guys at the expense of team chemistry. Go Jacks!
Yes, that was a shameful display. If Duke could have figured out a way to score that body lock he could have blown the match open. I still think that grounding is the worst rule in freestyle wrestling and needs to be done away with.
Why do you think Teague Travis is gonna lose to John Wiley? He smacked Wiley last year 11-2. Wiley has been an interesting case study because since he beat Paniro 2 years ago he really doesn't have another meaningful win.
I was waiting for this to be officially announced. All good gets for my jackrabbits. I expect Cobe, Drake and Glazier to start. Cade will throw his hat in the ring at 149 but I am not sure if he will win the spot. Certainly won't be favored to win that spot if Alek Martin goes (which is still up in the air as far as I know).
He will be BIG at 165. Probably needs to make 165 to be a starter with Sax transferring in. I have always though Picklo was going to make the jump to be an AA contender (probably tainted because I watched him beat Devos in Brookings). Perhaps this will be the year.
I’ve listened to enough FRL to know that this is not Askren’s take on this issue. He thinks kids that adequate size and skill level should not be held back. He thinks that kids that are not adequate size or skill level should be held back. He doesn’t really support a one size fits all approach but rather tailored to what he sees as best for each kid.
Brandon Meredith upgraded to Robbie Howard upgraded to Drew Hildabrandt upgraded to Gary Steen upgraded to Braeden Davis.
It did not work out for those guys but they kept trying to roll someone new out there.
