The state of South Dakota allows middle school athletes to participate in varsity wrestling. The city of Sioux Falls has put up red tape, not allowing middle school athletes to wrestle. This is a new rule that has been imposed this season. Kids that were wrestling varsity as 7th graders are not relegated to middle school only competition, while the rest of the state allows middle school wrestlers the opportunity to compete at the varsity level. Please consider signing the petition to show support. The impact will be lasting if this rule is not changed. Dean is a very solid wrestler on top but he’s a step below guys like O’Toole and Spencer. I would give him an A. If the criteria is making me wince for an A+, there would be a list list of guys with A+’s.

Why would an athlete stay in college just to wrestle in dual meets though? I think this would be a huge outlier and would not happen very frequently. To circumvent this, the rule would just be stated in such a way that once you have competed in 4 postseasons you are done. Problem solved.
