  1. based on the criteria they say they go by I'm not sure how nagao is seeded above madrigal but I really wanted to see him vs Van dee so I guess I'm grateful.
  2. I know PIAA always catches heat for how their seeding works but at 121 AA you have 6,7,8 ranked wrestlers nationally and two of them are going to be meeting in the quarters. Not really a post to hate on the bracket system because thats been done but I guess more to highlight there are gonna be some great matchups Friday. If all goes as chalk: AA: 107: Deputy vs Bachmann 1,2 Final 121: Botero vs gill 7,8 quarter 121: Winner of above vs Aaron seidel who's 6 127: Forrest vs vargo Final Forrest is ranked 2 but just lost to vargo who is not currently ranked 133: Brandt harer vs mason gibson 15,16 semi 133: winner of above vs Camden Baum who's ranked 13. 152: Melvin miller vs max stein 6,17 final AAA: 114: Landon sidun vs Sloboda, Sidun is ranked 1 sloboda is not ranked but he just beat sidun this past weekend final 127: Andrew binni vs eren sement final 13,16 139: Maddox shaw vs Brock weiss 4,11 semi 139: winner of above vs dalton perry whos ranked 12 Final 145: Manville vs simcov 1,3 Simcox is the 3 but beat manville in the regional finals 152: Collin gaj vs kollin rath final 3,5 160: Garvick vs Kunstek 10,18 Semi 160: Cunningham vs winner of above final cunningham is 14 285: Sean kinney vs nick pavlechko 7,11 final After doing these I should have used matscouts rankings and not flow but I am too lazy to go back now
  3. drew foster was never a HS state champ 2x AA 1 time champ
  4. I'm personally of the belief that having as many good guys in your room can only be a benefit, a good example of that obviously being NLWC and now Michigan's RTC I believe they have 4 Olympians in there now. However I think the united states is starting to approach Russia territory where we have 2-3 legit medal threats at every weight and in many instances in the same room and while that's awesome you do start to wonder if you want to prioritize the guys who will be representing the red, white and blue. Although I think the more American's in worlds/Olympics the better even if it does not show in team standings it grows the sport domestically.
  5. I think a lot of people argue (just make it a push out point) without thinking about how terrible and inconsistent grounding is called in and of itself.
  6. If I recall correctly, Nick tried to go inside trip which hes very good at but Austin just was ready and pivoted it. I'm wondering if we have a bit of a peaking "issue" with our international team. I put issue in quotations because the last 4-5 years we have absolutely peaked when it mattered most at worlds/olympics. However, this instance, zain getting caught (that was likely more of a fluke) and if I recall correctly yianni lost to one of Indias backups like 6 weeks before the worlds he took second in. I'm not sure the proper way to fix this or if its simply our usual reps are not wrestling enough in competition until right around the majors.
  7. I don't think chittum is a gatekeeper too young in his career so there is still going to be some major volatility. Cam amine feels like that type of guy to me at 165 if you beat him you're definitely in the AA convo. Latona seems like a good one for 133 or like a coliaocoo. 141 Vince seems perfect. 149 D'emilio or abas? 157 will lewan or paddy Gallagher when healthy although I think he was getting better prior to his injury. 174 is a weird weight to me in that there is an established top tier and then nobody that really differentiates to me perhaps Peyton mocco. 184 Layne malcewzki or a jump up Will feldkamp. 197 id say silas Allred just for this year but historically I think hes a better wrestler than hes shown so im gonna go with Luke stout. 285 Owen trephen or Konner doucet.
  8. Zahid beat Amirala Azarpira at this past world championships and Amirela is a fairly clear #2/3 depending on if you think Sadulaev will be back at 100% for the olympics after beating Snyder so I think he may test his luck at 97kg.
  9. thats true I think both were put in an odd spot given how long they have been in school but that was also their choice so can't really knock the process for that.
  10. not to take anything away form vargo but I have to wonder if forrest is sick, vargo is super tough but Jax has been teching kids I would consider comparable. Should definitely get to see it in a weeks time.
  11. my only qualm with the qualification process is guys like Vito and dalton not really having an opportunity to challenge for the spot because it is during the collegiate season. Gillman could have and I wish he did but I know the cut is hard on him. In nicks case I think he was our best rep you could argue Alirez and I personally think he's gonna be our rep to try and qualify at last chance but given the last 12 months nick was the right guy so I can't fault that and he beat Yianni albeit the concussion muddied the waters a tad. I can see an argument that Yianni has more international pedigree so maybe you want him at an event like this but at the end of the day I think hindsight is 20/20. It could be foolish of me to say like even though he did not meet the criteria Spencer should have been allowed to try and compete to qualify the spot because well hes Spencer but I know you can't make exceptions.
  12. it'll be whoever wins the spot at trials!
  13. to put in perspective how hard it is to qualify at last chance JO lost to Gadzhiev who won worlds that same year following the olympics.
  14. he said he wants to devote all his time towards coaching. I feel like he likely makes some reappearances because I doubt a T,Th show for an hour from 8:30-10 hampers his ability to coach that much.
  15. im not sure how danny fongaro or jordan hamden snagged allocations over crook
  16. There's no wrestling this weekend aside from pan am's and NJ states so there was not really a ton for them to talk about aside from carter hypotheticals. Generally, Tuesdays they recap the weekend and Thursdays they do picks and talk about the upcoming duals. I personally enjoy the banter although it may lose some of its luster once ben is done.
  17. Vito vs michael mcgee pt 2 last year
  18. was there ever any confirmation on the tweet about carter dislocating his knee or was he talking out his ass again.
  19. I think hed likely still be our rep however I dont think he can compete with zare only training a little bit the past two years when zare has a guy like masoumi pushing him for his own team spot.
  20. Hope SVN can stay healthy seems like hes had the injury bug dating back to HS
  21. love the molton shout hes super athletic and has not lost since December which I think is something only one other 125'er Matt Ramos can say.
  22. Team that can beat penn state if they all get blessed by god the night before NCAA's and everything that could go wrong for psu does NC state Camacho stays in form wins 125 Orine draws in opposite side of fix and vito is not healthy/is cutting for trials already makes finals ryan jack reaches back on beau in the quarters like he did eierman but gets the fall call and then proceeds to beat whoever the 4 seed is makes the finals but loses because lightning cannot possibly strike 3 times Jackson arrington gets the first takedown on ridge then chooses neutral and proceeds to circle but gets 2 stall calls on ridge for getting himself pushed out. Goes on to stun henson in the finals. Ed scott throws people and gets a lot of pins AA's I got nothing at 165 Nc state says f it and pulls singletons red shirt for confrences and he shows why he beat gabe arnold in 2 matches at u20's takes out a hobbled carter in the semis and avenges his ACC finals loss to mehki (in this hypothetical he loses to mehki at acc's) Fishback steals all of tj stewarts speed like its space jam and AA's Trent beats Aaron in the finals (the most realistic prediction on here imo) and celebrates by punching himself with one hand and holding a hoagie with the other trephan AA's
  23. hes going to be an absolute nightmare to seed with wins over mendez, lachlan, jack, crook. I cannot name someone off the top of my head with better wins but he has a lot of really bad losses too.
  24. I think he was the clear #2 in Russia having beaten baev the last two times they wrestled 9-1 and 9-3 however that was almost 18months ago you could argue bizhoev or valiev but Zhamolov to me is the most talented guy at the weight. As you said he definitely lacks experience and savviness as well as perhaps the mental to win consistently but I think he can beat anyone in a given match certainly not a guy id want to draw in before the semis.
