  1. He's missed the last 2 duals...anyone know if he's hurt?
  2. When's the cutoff for him to come back to NCAA competition this year?
  3. Or could it be that Mekhi is just not a great rider? He has awesome defense and reattacks, but I don't think he's really known for a being a hammer on top.
  4. Hoffman decommitted and switched to Ohio State immediately after Beard committed. This was a direct result. Jenkins left because of Taylor, he actually specifically mentioned he was kicked out of his "home" because of Taylor.
  5. Put another way, if you don't seed the wrestlers based on who you think the best wrestlers are...you could have #1 and #2 wrestle each other in the first round and #3 and #4 wrestle each other the first round and you are guaranteed that 1/2 of the top 4 are eliminated immediately.
  6. Actually, the point of seeding is to ensure that what are predicted to be the best wrestlers reach the final 4 of the tournament. So they are predictions or projections in that regard.
  7. Since I'm a Penn State fan I only know PSU examples. To me, recruited over means there is a wrestler already on the roster who is either the starter or expected to be the starter when the coach brings in a new wrestler via recruiting or transfer who supplants the first wrestler. This only really applies if the first wrestler is a top level recruit. Examples: 1. David Taylor over Bubba Jenkins 2. Greg Kervliet over Seth Nevills 3. Max Dean over Michael Beard 4. Michael Beard over Gavin Hoffman Not an example: Anthony Cassar over Nick Nevills, since Cassar was always on the Penn State roster but just couldn't crack the starting lineup. What are some examples from other teams?
  8. They both wrestled each other as the last match of last season. It was basically the same outcome, so I don't think either of them got any new information.
  9. Right, it has no effect on any seeding or rankings or records.
  10. #4 (Beard), #5 (Dean), #6 (Warner) wrestlers ahead of him all have at least one loss. #5 Dean lost to Laird head to head. Why isn't Laird ranked higher? I would have him at 4 or 5.
  11. His motor and aggression would be awesome in the cage. Would love to see him transition to MMA. Same with Nicky Suriano.
  12. The crazy thing is if Dean rolled without touching his hand down it's no a TD. The hand touches while he is inverted mid-roll and the match is over.
  13. Here is why: 1. Spencer is back and looking great. 26 points to Iowa with Spencer getting his 4th NCAA title. 2. Holes at 125 (won't qualify for NCAAs) and 157 (might qualify but won't win more than 1 match) 3. Dean is either hurt or has regressed. He has dropped 2 matches in a row and likely won't be a top 4 seed going into NCAAs. What can be done: 1. Nothing 2. Nothing about 125. At 157 pull Levi Haines'. Haines could be a low AA this year. 3. Get Dean healthy
  14. Loses 11-9 to Beard. Beard has his revenge on Cael. What is going on with Dean...has he ever lost 2 matches in a row in college?
  15. Laird is a giant. He's really a HWT. Made Dean look tiny.
  16. How many months can one go without competing and still be ranked?
  17. Iowa makes the most sense. They need a 197 pounder after this year.
  18. https://iowa.forums.rivals.com/threads/warner-just-looks-better.406178/
  19. I am shocked how people aren't putting Warner at a solid #2 to Lee. He was an eyelash away from winning it last year and I've read about how he's looked different, in a very dominant way, this year.
  20. Also, Hawkeye fans would have you believe he is already next in line to be the next head coach after Tom Brands retires.
  21. For me, it's David Taylor. He may *only* have won 2 NCAA titles but he has the 2 Hodges and the Olympic Gold.
  22. Spencer had a torn ACL when he lost to Desanto in the PIAA finals when he was a senior in high school. I think he's had at least 1 bad ACL every single season he's competed in college. He's worn one or two giant leg braces that go from his ankle to his hip. That said, the toll of these injuries is definitely cumulative and I think freestyle can be especially hard on the knees...think all the torque you go through when you get leg laced. A "healthy" Spencer could win a Olympic gold medal...a Spencer with two shot knees and 6 years of NCAA wear and tear...well I guess we'll see...
