  1. If RBY doesn’t wrestle Sunday that will be three missed duals in a row.
  2. I heard RBY just dances and stalls. Maybe that's why the coaches rank him at 3?
  3. I think he is behind (in no particular order): DT Ruth Zain Bo Nolf
  4. Under this hypo Nick would have to wrestle for an Indiana team but Matt could wrestle in PA.
  5. I would make the hypothetical rule that you would have to spend at least 2 full years before enrolling in college in the "home" state.
  6. Imagine, hypothetically, that NCAA athletes had to be residents of the state in which a college is located. In other words, Penn State could only use Pennsylvania wrestlers, Iowa could only use Iowa wrestlers, Ohio State could only use Ohio wrestlers, etc. How would this change the current landscape of best D1 wrestling programs, if at all? I imagine Penn State and Ohio State would still be the top 2. But how about colleges like Illinois or Rutgers? Maybe Cornell would not be nearly as good and Iowa and Oklahoma State would also drop significantly.
  7. However this is the only year where there could be multiple 4x champs. Cael, Dake and Stieber all won Hodges when they were the only 4x champ that year.
  8. Why is it a lock that a 4x champ, 1 loss Yianni beats an undefeated 3x champ, 0 loss RBY or Starocci (if that happens)? What if those 3x champs bonus their way through the tournament? Yianni's bonus percentage isn't that impressive compared to other top Hodge contenders this year. Overall career accomplishments is lower on the criteria than dominance in the current season. There is no rule that says the Hodge winner must win the most overall career NCAA titles.
  9. I would wager that if Spencer finishes the year undefeated the Hodge will be his alone.
  10. He won't win if he has a loss. Hodge is supposed to be the most dominant wrestler, primarily. An undefeated Spencer 4-timer plus multiple undefeated 3-timers and 2-timers (RBY, Starocci, O'Toole) would trump someone who has losses this year, even if they are a 4-timer.
  11. He's likely going to be a 4x champ but will not win a Hodge unless Spencer loses in the finals. Is he the best ever not to win a Hodge? I have to think yes since Cael, Dake and Stieber are all 4 timers who won at least 1 Hodge. Ruth and Nolf are two 3 timers who never won the Hodge.
  12. He's out unless Spencer takes a loss AND there are no undefeated NCAA champs.

  14. So you contend most Iowa fans don't think Spencer Lee is the best wrestler of all time and don't have him as pick #1 to replace Brands?
  15. To be totally fair to Iowa fans, none of them are thinking that Spencer takes over as head coach or AD in the next 3-5 years. I think they are projecting more in the 8-10 year range. But yes, Spencer is literally a god to Iowa fans, so it's not crazy at all for them to want a 20-something or even early-30s sports GOD to be their next head coach or AD. For anyone who doesn't believe this logon to Hawkeye Report and start a poll asking "Who do you want to replace the Brands once they retire?" No doubt Spencer Lee will win with like 90% of the votes.
  16. Yup. I don't know why people think I am making these things up. It takes 5 minutes to read through one of the dozen Spencer Lee threads to verify that these sentiments are shared by a large portion of Hawkeye fans.
  17. Is this from the ADS RBY match? He's holding the shoe upside down and not bending the toe...so it makes me think this is not from that match.
