  1. He's undefeated this year with a much higher bonus rate, he's also the 2nd seed and a former AA. All credentials better than Bartlett. Hendrickson is favored by seed and by performance so far in the tourney. He is a bonus point machine.
  2. Crazy! All 7 quarterfinalists make the semis, including wild wins by Bartlett, SVN and Haines. Tonight, however, only 3 out of 7 will be favored to win, by seed. Here is how I see it going: 133 RBY dec McGee 141 Alirez dec Bartlett 149 Yianni maj SVN 157 Robb dec Haines 174 Starocci dec Foca 184 Brooks dec Hidlay HWT Hendrickson dec Kerk Penn State goes 3/7 in the semis, which isn't great compared to their regular success. I see a small chance Haines and Kerk could win though which would make it 5/7 in the semis. I think Bartlett and SVN have run out of lives though, against vastly superior opponents.
  3. He will be 22 when he starts at Iowa. Pretty standard by now given how many Iowa guys finish their careers at age 25-27
  4. It's not that simple. I graded each wrestler individually based on expectations and then aggregated it to arrive at the team grade. Counterexample would be like that Minnesota team that had 10 AAs but no champs. As a team they probably scored a lot of points (maybe more than expected) but I'm sure several of those guys were disappointed that they didn't win a title.
  5. Penn State: I expect 6. Maybe 7. 8 if everything goes perfectly. RBY 100% Bartlett 50% SVN 75% Haines 80% Starocci 100% Brooks 100% Dean 50% Kerk 100%
  6. 133 RBY B+ A 12-3 major and a 5-2 DEC. Never in doubt of losing but not really dominating as much as he can. Maybe saving himself for Nagao? 141 Bartlett A A 8-2 win and 3-2 over Carlson. Has a tough matchup vs Matthews today. 149 SVN A+ Was down 8-0 and came back and got the fall. Then upset Johnson 14-8. Has a winnable quarter final today vs Rooks. 157 Haines A- Two wins but narrowly missing out on bonus so far. Faces a very dangerous Andonian tonight. 165 Facundo F His trajectory was on a nosedive the last half of the season so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. But 0-2 BBQ with 0 offensive points scored is a F for a recruit of his caliber. I hope he has an injury, otherwise I can't explain why he's done so poorly despite being a blue chipper. 174 Starocci A- First round fall and a controlled 4-0 win over DJ Washington. The match was surprisingly devoid of chippiness. 184 Brooks A 13-4 major and a fall vs a game Feldkamp. Faces a tough Romero tonight but he should win. 197 Dean C A 6-1 win then a 7-2 loss to Allred. Much like Big 10s, Dean was taken down multiple times and could not secure his own takedown. Allred is just bigger, stronger, faster and younger. Dean looks very tired and very old. He should beat Hoffman but I wouldn't be shocked if he loses. 285 Kerk A- Fall and a 14-2 major. Odd choice not to go for the tech against Nevills. Instead he laid on top for 3 minutes doing nothing. Maybe saving energy for later. Overall: A- All the hammers performed other than Dean. Facundo underperformed and SVN has overperformed so far, so a wash.
  7. That was odd. 12 point win where he spent 3 minutes on top doing nothing when he could have easily gotten the tech on his feet.
  8. I should have just said "Allred, is bigger, stronger and younger than Dean"
  9. You know what, you are right. Dean = not great on his feet, but great on top.
  10. Any suggestions? He is great on his feet -- slick takedowns and great neutral defense. A 197 pound Dake?
  11. I would wager the odds of Dean and Warner both missing the podium look very very good.
  12. Actually, I'll call my shot now. Allred wins it all this year.
  13. You have to give credit to Allred. He is better on his feet, both on offensive and defense. Dean is too old and too small for the weight. The only place he had a chance was on top, and in both matches Allred scored enough from neutral to allow him to entirely avoid that. As a Penn State fan, I hate to say it, but I think this shows Dean's title last year was more fluke than a show of dominance.
  14. Dean looked about 65 years old in that match. Time to hang em up.
  15. One can hope. His season has been in a nosedive since the midway point. At the current trajectory he won’t be starting next season.
  16. Also not a bad comparison. But Gulibon did AA
  17. The only explanation I can fathom for Facundo being unable to finish a single shot is that he’s incredibly weak for the weight.
