Where will AJ and Anthony Ferrari end up?
Jimmy Cinnabon replied to AOCStallsLikeAMug's topic in College Wrestling
If he is a legit NFL prospect meaning, he will be drafted, there is absolutely zero financial rationale for him to wrestle. Getting injured wrestling (knee, concussion, etc) would literally cost of millions of dollars (maybe over $10 million) if he has the talent to be a NFL draft pick. By comparison, someone like Spencer Lee, once of the greatest wrestlers of all time, has no shot at earning 1/50 of what a legit NFL prospect will earn over a football career, through wrestling alone. -

Gun crimes aren't a big deal in Iowa. In fact several wrestlers in recent memory got in trouble for gun-related offenses and it was NBD, if I recall. Also what happened with Montell Marion's "permanent" temporary suspension? https://www.thegazette.com/crime-courts/former-iowa-wrestler-montell-marion-arrested-again/ "Marion's once-permanent suspension from the Hawkeye wrestling squad was lifted in January 2011. Despite an offered transfer release from the UI, he chose to stay and try to regain his spot on the team. Marion earned his spot back and received the team's Mike J. McGivern Award for the team's most courageous wrestler. In March, Marion made his second NCAA finals appearance and placed second in an overtime battle." -
https://www.linkedin.com/in/carson-manville-03769a21a/ He is graduating this year, and appears no, he didn't wrestle in college.

Iowa targeting Nic Bouzakis along with other 2 Ferraris

Ok, well if Bouzakis ends up at Iowa will you be back here to say "I was wrong"? -

Are the 3 brothers close? I assume yes. I assume they will hang out and live together if they end up at the same college. I assume they will go out together and get into trouble together... Doubt it's 2 of them out at the bar and the 3rd one studying in the library. -
Would have helped if Ok St and Oklahoma were bigger title threats. The state is in a major downswing for wrestling.

Iowa targeting Nic Bouzakis along with other 2 Ferraris
Jimmy Cinnabon replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
vhsalum HR All-State 58 minutes ago #684 Anthony - middle brother of the Ferrari clan (and likely the most troublesome one) "commited" to Iowa. Hawk Insiders Gobblin and bnicolls have confirmed that Tom is going after older brother and former natty champ AJ and the younger brother. AJ has felony charges pending, but it's possible that they get dropped. Anthony has pled guilty to misdemeanor assault charges, with sentencing likely on April 11. Nic Bouzakis, assumed to be Ohio State's 133 pounder next year, is very likely going to leave tOSU and transfer to Iowa. Considering the likely $$$ it is taking to secure these 4 transfers - they will all be in the lineup with the exception of Angelo (who will be a high school senior). So our lineup next year could be: 125 - Ayala 133 - Bouzakis 141 - Woods 149 - Chittum 157 - Ferrari 165 - PK 174 - Brands 184 - Assad (please god no) 197 - AJ 285 - Cass -
Hawkeye Report has a long discussion thread following the commitment of Anthony Ferrari to the Hawkeyes. Apparently Tom Brands is courting the other 2 Ferrari brothers despite their pending criminal cases. But the bigger surprise is that Nic Bouzakis from Ohio State is supposedly ready to transfer to Iowa because the academics at Ohio State are too difficult? Any Ohio State fans hear about this?

If I were an Iowa fan I would immediately delete every utterance of "Andrew Long" on any Iowa forum, blog, website, commemorative t-shirt, etc. Just accept that you've lost the moral high ground and will take anyone, no matter how many pending criminal charges, if it will get you closer to a NCAA team championship. Embrace it. -

Ok, I will check back on this next year to see if you're actively protesting Anthony and AJ being on the team when they are racking up the bonus points. Something tells me you'll learn to be OK with them on the roster. -

don't pretend like you aren't ecstatic about getting the Ferraris this is honestly the only way Iowa becomes the favorite for next year (and beyond) -
How is your favorite program trending? I'll go first Penn State - it's seems hard to say you are trending up when you've already won 10 of the last 11 contested NCAAs. But I think there is room for improvement. Sure RBY is gone but guys like Bartlett, SVN, Haines, Facundo and Kerk have lots of room to improve. Would be interested in hearing opinions of fans of the following teams: - Iowa - Ok St - Oh St - Cornell - Michigan - Minnesota - Rutgers - Wisconsin - and more

To tell Mrs. Lee her new glasses are ready for pickup...and to go easy on them -
I didn't know this because I'm a PSU fan, and not a Cornell fan but: 1. Vito was 216-1 in high school in NY. Which is a much better wrestling state than Arizona. RBY was undefeated but Arizona is pretty low on the list of best wrestling states. 2. Vito is way more credentialed in FS wrestling. Cadet silver in 2016, Jr World silver in 2019, bronze at 2019 US Nationals, gold at 2020 US Nationals, gold at 2021 Pan Ams. He also beat RBY badly at FS in both meetings. 3. Vito has better wrestling heritage - he's Russian and his dad was a 2x Russian freestyle champ AND a Olympic bronze medalist (1992 Barcelona). 4. Vito goes to arguably the best school for developing elite wrestlers. 5. Vito is also considerably taller/longer than RBY while being just as fast and quick. So notwithstanding how good RBY is, it's not like Vito was some schlub with no wrestling chops. His credentials (other than previously winning a NCAA title) and physical characteristics are all superior to RBY. So hats off to him for winning it all and winning OW. Well deserved. RBY still had an amazing career and I look forward to cheering for him in the UFC.

I think Penn State needs to upgrade 165. 0-2 BBQ isn't good enough. -
