Does he do freestyle much?

Perhaps to older folks. But I’d say time has moved on. If there is a face for US wrestling now I’d say JB or Taylor. If Dake is an option in this poll, Taylor should be. My vote - JB. Has reached the pinnacle more. And has duration going for him as well. I get the Smith votes though.

Page 2. Anyway … seemed like a good interview. Ryan didn’t tear Pyles a new one. Ryan made incorrect statements. But he made it clear that he was reacting based on his perception. Pyles made fair and good points. I appreciate Ryan acknowledging some of them (Ohio State wrestling benefits from good funding). Also appreciate that Ryan is stressing that ‘win at all costs’ is not their approach. He feels there is a right way to act in life and in coaching. Very interesting that he talks to team about transfers they are considering. Sounds like he has a big focus on being forthright with people and his team. Wants to be able to look people right in the eye and know that he himself is fully above board. Seems like a great role model. Pyles made fair points. The original poster here and some others are so wrapped up in their bias against Pyles that they project negativity where it is unwarranted. So be it.

I’m picturing a situation where the wrestler pinned everyone he/she faced in the first period (including freestyle)…. Except for one opponent that simply had the recipe to beat him / her about 5 to 4 each time they wrestled and let’s say prevented two or three out of four NCAA championships. Yes - I can see GOAT talk. But they need to be super dominant.

Just watched the Forest vs Tomasello final … wrecking ball is right. Wow. That was a butt kicking. Started with a sweet counter shot that was a fireman’s! Executed so well. Then another TD off a slide by I think. Tomasello seemed to not have any idea of the risk he was in on that last 4. Forest knew it and launched him. Really impressed

No!!! Damn it!! Told my wife we can go do something at 4:30 …. Freaking people with the curveball. Oh well.

I’m always a bit surprised when some continue as active wrestlers when all signs suggest you have reached your peak and are now on the descent …. And your peak wasn’t all that close to the top.

Is there a set start time for finals (looking for Eastern time)?

@wrestle87 - that move is dirty AF. Appears to be very intentional. Easily avoided. Grounds for DQ to me.

This is relevant and speaks to the crazy tactics parents will take. Sad overall. It isn’t needed … at all. Impacts the kid’s social circle. Makes a clear point that learning things outside of wrestling is not the priority (play games and wrestle). Delays the kid’s entry into the money making world when, for the large majority of them, they don’t become a world championship level wrestler. Completely warped. And yes, it does put an asterisk next to their accomplishments. If you disagree, I suppose taking 3 years off from middle school would be fine by you as well.

Buddies and I got a 4 bedroom Air BnB … worked great. $340 a person - each with own bedroom. One had car - parking was simple near enough to arena … $12 all day. Consider rental car next time. Saw plans for KC to put in a baseball stadium just south of T-Mobile arena. Quite the sports complex. Glad to hear the basically unanimous agreement on KC … here and in other social media posts I am seeing. NCAA - make it happen pls!!

My perspective: Wrestler not taking risks / not trying upper body moves / no trying real leg attacks …. and generally back to line. Going on for good period of time. Bam - stalling! What I see: Ref sees the above, notices there is an aggressor, …. but does not call stalling until opponent takes ANOTHER shot. Why do the refs wait like this? Why can’t they call stalling even when the two are simply hand fighting?
