  1. When I read or hear comments such as yours I'm always curious to know how you get your news and information. What's accurate and sources that you trust?
  2. Don't think I've mentioned, but Weir's wife, Tasha (I'm one who refuses to call her Natasha, which came into being when they got married), is an old friend of mine. We grew up together in Rochester, MN and we all hung out in one big group together. I missed by one person being included in an old picture that was shown in the documentary, The Other One.
  3. I was surprised to learn about Mydland's drug problems. I think I always thought he was one of the clear headed members. Not so much.
  4. Ben Bennett's dad was a real treat. Anyone who ever cheered for Ben's opponent got his wrath. There was a heavyweight from somewhere recently whose dad nearly went at it with Terry Brands, but I could be wrong about some details there.
  5. He was the last keyboard player when I stopped. Never saw Hornsby, etc.
  6. His sunken in eyes told the tale to me. Big weight cut that zapped the fuel out of him.
  7. Now there's a song I've heard. I just didn't know who the original artist was. During the years that I was mini touring with the Dead that song hadn't quite made it into their repertoire yet. Has the same Aiko Aiko groove when they do it.
  8. I'll bet that gets your attention. I'm pretty good in the music trivia department and I can't say I've ever heard of them. It's a great song though. I love instrumentals.
  9. For all of the hedonism that it's worth.
  10. That's kind of like the Rorschach test and "what does that cloud look like to you?" all in one.
  11. I think I'll drop a Hank III song on here tonight for all to hear.
  12. Psychobilly was around even in the 80's. Even Dwight Yoakam would reference it, but there was a good scene of it in those days.
  13. Not a Jr. fan at all, but I've been on record for a while now that III is the most talented Williams. I love him, but true to how he is, he walked away from it all several years ago and hasn't been seen since.
  14. Honey doesn't go bad, but doesn't it lose its punch over time?
  15. If it's any encouragement, I've always been a huge music fan and collector, but only understood melody, as you do too. When I picked up the banjo I had to first learn music, but it was easy, and now I'm playing the instrument. All that in less than two years. So, there's hope. Steve Martin proved it too!
  16. There's a Hank IV just starting his career, but if he's doing what he said he was going to do it's a sure career killer. Wants to just go by IV, with no reference to Hank or Williams at all.
  17. LOL! My wife wouldn't get it.
  18. Cool. Just saw your "guitar post" above.
  19. That's a beautiful pic. I've wanted to get back since 1990. Came close a few years ago by visiting Virginia again.
  20. Do you play?
  21. In 1990, I worked on the App. Trail for a summer. I found that specific area of NC to be one of the most beautiful places that I've seen. I was initially surprised (then, not so much so, when I saw the area), to learn that Mount Mitchell in NC (right by Boone) is the highest elevation east of the Mississippi.
  22. I love Hoyt Axton. I have this great album of a benefit concert that he played at and he was drunk as a skunk on wine. His ramblings in between his two songs were worth the album price.
  23. I ask because I've decided to take on playing the banjo at the ripe old age of 56, as a COVID hobby. I've had it two years, but didn't decide to commit until just over a year ago by taking lessons through a folk school in Kentucky, which I'm still doing. So, I've actually been playing for just over a year, but I'm improving a lot. Weird you say that about Gilmour. He's a guitar hero/God of mine too, and I've always noticed that about him. He's not fast, but he also never misses, nor is he off. There's a lot to be said for that. Fast is too often just for show. I'll keep sharing my music journey.
  24. Watch it! I'm a banjo player!
