The University of Louisville - they throw money at all their sports and their facilities across board are top notch. I would imagine they would make a splash hire for coaching and the room itself would be awesome It would make for some interesting meets for the city with Bellarmine 10 minutes down the road Wrestling a Big10 team in the YUM would be great too

Indiana State tournament, two more weekends
nick replied to Southend's topic in High School Wrestling
I'm fine with one class, but we need wrestle backs at some point in the state tournament With that said, I get the plight of small schools - mine is the smallest big school (smallest 4A for team state which puts us up against Brownsburg, Center Grove, Crown Point, Cathedral, etc...) which more or less drops us from making team state ever -

Thank you! Our guy has done the whole glow-up (JV to Varsity B to Varsity) and put a tonnn of time in, so it's awesome to see him move on We have New Castle's 145lber - will be an interesting matchup -

I had one qualifier out of the hardest semi state…. Had to beat a kid who has pinned him twice (once this year and once last year) in the ticket round and ended up in the finals Can’t wait til Friday! -
At least in Indiana, he would be the guy kids coming up watched growing up (to a degree). He did it with a ton of swag too None of my kids remember Tsirtis, but you ask them about Red, they all know. I would say the same for the coaches, everyone knows his dad and at the coaches clinic this year, I would say he was the biggest draw this year (in which every Indiana college was represented, including Purdue)
-
As far as instate, I thought Jason Tsirtsis would have helped with that, I guess not the case (and now he's gone) Having C.J. Red is big tho, he 100% draws folks in Indiana...

Did you watch it on the stream? Just curious

Coach Shuck and co have Bellarmine going the right direction, interested to see how recurring picks up Being the only D1 in Kentucky and in Louisville, a metro of over a million folks, they have a prime opportunity. Cincinnati is 1.45 hours from campus, Indianapolis is about two hours hours, Nashville 2.5, and St Louis 4.5 hours away

Bellarmine picked up the win with the last match, down team score wise two points The HWT match was a fun one, plus the lat match to pick up the pin down 8-1

Bellarmine picks up a 36-3 win over Queens University

That was a fun won to watch as a Bellarmine fan - so much improvement from last year already -
The Bellarmine / Queens dual will be streamed online for free https://www.buknightssportsnetwork.com

Wasn’t a coach, was an athlete on that team And yes…… not the best time
-
Momir is awesome... He's been helping locally in the Louisville metro for a little bit, during the last Bellarmine dual I heard their coaches yelling "do the Momir"

I'm not sure of that, but I can tell you the numbers stayed the same (around six/10 girls, 20ish guys) my entire time there No one was really happy since no one got full attention - there was never a complete staff with you at meets since they were split and as a light weight, we rotated daily into the girls mat to work with them (which I had no problem with, but that's not what we signed up for). A funny story with it, first meet of the year is the Michigan State Open and we get one assistant coach for it (rest of staff is with the girls), we have an exchange student from the UK, his first match in America is against Ohio State and he has no coach in his corner
-
At my small NAIA college in 2013, we had both a men's and women's and both shared the same coaching staff and practices so I would say both teams were setup for failure to some degree

They key is to recruit Columbus East kids haha -
Who is IU's best wrestler this year? I haven't followed them this year, is it still Donnell Washington?
-
I always like watching someone new to coaching yelling the whole "just stand up" - granted at times you get the kid who is just laying there, but generally if it was that easy they would get up I've really stopped yelling during most matches and do the majority of tweaks between periods or any downtime (injury/blood/etc..) - honestly I think giving looks of approval and affirming what they are doing is working and providing small pointers is better than just yelling crap the entire time
-
Coach Nick Spatola is awesome and so is his off-season tournament - have been going since it was hosted at Cincinnati Tech

In Indiana, our girl's state starts this weekend (it goes Regionals and then State) Granted its not put on by the IHSAA, rather the IHSGW until it becomes a sanctioned sport (right now it's classified as emerging until it hits a certain number of participants, then the state will sanction it)

I appreciate how easy the Kentucky rankings are to use/read (being a simple PDF with tables versus having to scroll thru stuff)
