I think we should hold Israel to a higher standard than the terror group, but that's just my opinion.
-
If soldiers are included in the 30k dead, then yes, you're right. That's still an abysmal ratio.
-
estimated hamas fighters - 30-40k - call it 35k current civilian death count - around 30k so if we go with 35k fighters, that's 105k dead.
-
Even if these estimates are true, that's a 3-1 civilian to fighter casualty rate. If they do ever wipe out Hamas, based on this pace, they'll kill around 100k civilians in 18 square miles of land.

And they can all reverse executive orders by passing laws through congress! You know, how our government is supposed to work!

3 of the 4 groups of loan forgiveness recipients were covered in that contract: 1) PSLF - what I posted above 2) 20 years of Income Driven Repayment payments - also included in the contract. You make your income based payments for 20 years and if there's any left it's forgiven 3) Permanent disability - included in the contract. The fourth is for people who were part of a major class action lawsuit against more than 100 for-profit schools who committed widespread fraud. Biden really isn't adding anything new. His admin is just processing the paperwork that they're supposed to. The reason it seems new is that Devos' department under Trump was letting the claims sit unprocessed to avoid paying them out. Sometimes they would process them, acknowledge their validity, but then put $0 for the relief amount. It was insane lol.

Trump invoked Title 42, part of his executive authority. Courts prevented Biden from lifting it for a while. We really gonna make the argument that the court system is unfair to republicans? lol It's like their main power hold in the country.

This is included in the MPN signed by every federal student loan recipient: "Public Service Loan Forgiveness A Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program is also available. Under this program, we will forgive the remaining balance due on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 payments (after October 1, 2007) on those loans under certain repayment plans while you are employed full-time by a qualifying employer. The required 120 payments do not have to be consecutive. Qualifying repayment plans include the REPAYE Plan, the PAYE Plan, the IBR Plan, the ICR Plan, and the Standard Repayment Plan with a 10-year repayment period. Note: Although the Standard Repayment Plan with a 10-year repayment period is a qualifying repayment plan for PSLF, to receive any loan forgiveness under this program you must enter the REPAYE Plan, the PAYE Plan, the IBR Plan, or the ICR Plan, and make the majority of the 120 payments under one of those plans." Hope this clears things up for you! edit: you can read the whole contract here! https://studentaid.gov/mpn/subunsub/landing

And the courts have also blocked some of Biden's stuff. Sounds like you're starting to come aboard my abolish the Supreme Court take!
-
They're not complaining in this case. They chose the career with this program already established. It was part of the calculus. Sorry you don't like it.
-
Trump revoked some Obama executive orders. You know this stuff is public information right? lol
-
This was started by Bush during his second term. Seems like most of the people complaining weren't aware of its existence. https://studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/public-service
-
Yes, public sector jobs. You're the one off track lol
-
Plenty of people under 35 working public sector jobs my friend.
-
Have you seen his numbers with young people? lol
-
They paid their loans back through service, which they agreed upon from the outset of taking the job. It's like a retroactive GI bill. Do public service and we'll pay for your education. Are you against the GI bill too? The other thing to note is that many of these people have already paid more than the original amount of their loan.
-
Much of this cancellation is from already existing programs incentivizing people taking lower pay public sector jobs (teaching for example). Work for the public for 10 years, make your payments, and the rest is forgiven. Many people took those jobs specifically for this loan plan. It's part of the benefits package. It's hardly letting lazy people off the hook for their obligations.

I think the biggest issue is that it's a selective enforcement. The decision is justified under the law, but the law isn't ever enforced on anybody else and it's clearly being done in this case for political reasons. He did commit fraud in the sense that he grossly overvalued his wealth, but that's what everybody does. Points to a larger problem in the system imo.
-
Yes, but we disagree how that is possible. I don't think it's possible militarily. The solution must be political imo. Empower the PA. Give Palestinians a reason to believe a peaceful solution is possible. Undercut Hamas' justification for existence.
-
“why don’t the gazans simply expel the armed and well-trained terror group that controls them?” that’s stupid even for this group come on lol

They are no closer to eliminating Hamas today than on 10/7 and have alienated the entire region which they were on the path to normalizing relations with, thus making their future safety far less secure. So yes, they're losing. Some of us could see past our noses to realize that a civilian slaughter in Gaza might kill many of the Hamas fighters who attacked on 10/7, but it was never going to make Israel safer or more secure. If they don't call a ceasefire soon, the death rate will start skyrocketing due to starvation and disease. Those who pointed to 28,000 not being enough to be considered a "genocide" will have to find a new argument...

The narrative is starting to shift amongst US Israel supporters as the results on the ground are increasingly hard to deny. We are entering the "It was a just war, but they did a really bad job" stage. "Citing conversations with “seven current and former members of Israel’s intelligence community,” Abraham reported that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had changed its doctrine to permit far greater civilian casualties than it would have tolerated in previous wars. IDF leadership was greenlighting strikes on civilian targets like apartment buildings and public infrastructure that they knew would kill scores of innocent Gazans. “In one case,” Abraham reported, “the Israeli military command knowingly approved the killing of hundreds of Palestinian civilians in an attempt to assassinate a single top Hamas military commander.”" Important article cited above: https://www.972mag.com/mass-assassination-factory-israel-calculated-bombing-gaza/ "The bombing of power targets, according to intelligence sources who had first-hand experience with its application in Gaza in the past, is mainly intended to harm Palestinian civil society: to “create a shock” that, among other things, will reverberate powerfully and “lead civilians to put pressure on Hamas,” as one source put it." “Nothing happens by accident,” said another source. “When a 3-year-old girl is killed in a home in Gaza, it’s because someone in the army decided it wasn’t a big deal for her to be killed — that it was a price worth paying in order to hit [another] target. We are not Hamas. These are not random rockets. Everything is intentional. We know exactly how much collateral damage there is in every home.”

The amount was based on the fraud he committed. We should be happy at least one rich person is being held accountable for their crimes. Nobody to blame but himself. This isn’t going to affect his campaign. His campaign will be funded by the billion dollar republican war chest, just like the last two times.
